Man City, Leeds, Charlton, Bradford, Sheffield Wednesday, Leicester City, Ipswich Town, Barnsley etc etc etc - relegated from the premier league and struggled like hell to get back, most even getting relegated to the third tier - and most haven’t ever got back to the promised land ... it ain’t easy

Most of those clubs did not receive parachute payments. It has been much easier for clubs relegated to return since parachute payments were introduced in 2007.

So absolutely nothing recent then?

Oh, ok ... here's some more recent ones - ranging from 2008 to 2019 - all these clubs were relegated from the premier league with parachute payments and haven’t been back since - there’s probably more examples too:

Reading 2013

Birmingham City 2011

Derby County 2008

Bolton Wanderers 2012

Blackburn Rovers 2012

Swansea City 2018

QPR 2015

Huddersfield Town 2019

Cardiff City 2019

Hull City 2017

Most relegated before parachute payments were introduced so quite irrelevant to the point made

There are many examples of clubs who have been relegated from the premier league since parachute payments were introduced and have never made it back - eg Reading, Brum, Bolton, Huddersfield, Blackburn, Derby, Cardiff, Swansea, Hull, QPR etc etc

How many of those clubs had the same average wage bill as Fulham have had this season? Or Everton probably will have? Or even Newcastle had?
I also don’t think you can compare Cardiff, for example, being relegated to Everton. I agree that getting Cardiff straight back up would be a great achievement. Getting Everton up at the first attempt wouldn’t be  anywhere near as difficult.

So 20 teams out of 30 have gone back up to the Premiership. Two Thirds of teams. That basically means there’s only One Promotion Place available for non Premiership Clubs. Fare ?

Come on Liverpool, I want a new ground next season ?

You and me both M, I never got to Goodison in the good old days. Also an easy sell of a weekend away for me as it's Mrs PSR's favourite city's to visit.
