  1. Yep, could of held his own in the higher divisions I think. Maybe off field things were what stopped this from happening. Great range of passing, tenacious, great touch, always had time on the ball. COYR
  2. You can put players where you want, but ultimately, you have to want to defend, want to win the first ball, want to compete & stay switched on. COYR
  3. I think that is something we need to be mindful of, it’s how he develops from here. As bad as yesterday was, he will of gained from it in some capacity, mentally more than anything I would imagine. I actually thought he was struggling physically more than anything, he looked leggy to me. This then leads to bad positional play, bad decisions etc etc. I also noticed that he seemed to be picking up back post positions for our attacking long throws & free kicks from the right, couldn’t understand this at all. He’s not exactly an aerial threat & adds to his load. Surely a more experienced head should of been telling him to just tuck in etc. Possibly more worrying is that it must of been a tactical instruction. COYR
  4. Ah, my memory doesn’t serve me well! Has to be up there, especially bearing in mind the magnitude of the game. COYR
  5. Isn’t he very good friends with Andriy Shevchenko? COYR
  6. Yep, from Barnet if memory serves me right. COYR
  7. How the hell does a David Noble topic turn into a chance to have a pop at LJ? With regards Noble, brilliant talent, saw things before most players on the pitch, hence why he could play at Championship level without being 100% focused. Great touch, great composure, great vision & could of easily played in the Prem with a better attitude. Great lad & funny to boot. COYR
  8. Cheers @Davefevs, have watched it on my phone via the Sky sports app. Makes me feel a bit better! COYR
  9. Hope they’re doing buy one get one free down Specsavers, cause I’ve seen the highlights (poor angle for the first ) & I can’t see anything obvious! COYR
  10. Just seen the highlights, save from the close range header was the best of a good bunch. COYR
  11. Great strike, shame it’s not in colour & that background music still sends a shiver down my spine! COYR
  12. I think in general you are spot on, possibly he could of been stronger, but I would be looking elsewhere if I was appointing ‘ blame ‘. Kalas gets caught the wrong side of a cluster of players, rather than staying ‘touch tight’, he then gets caught under the flight trying to gain the lost yards. Bentley is blocked off (maybe should of had some protection?) & can’t there. Would personally be looking at how we set up, Klose the most experienced & tallest player at the back post, surely should be where Cundy is & vice versa, bossing it. From their side of it, good corner, good movement. COYR
  13. We certainly have some talent on our hands currently. We seem to currently have a good crop in the first team, but also a good crop in or on the fringes of the first team squad. Bigger teams will definitely be sniffing around in the very near future if not already. I noticed Rob ‘ Biff ‘ Newman was in the Lansdown stand today making a few notes with pen & pad, he is currently I believe, West Ham’s head of recruitment! I can definitely see them looking at Semenyo, would be a good back up for Antonio imo. COYR
  14. IMO that is how a 3 at the back should be played. Two defenders and then one who can sweep up anything in behind when out of possession & step into midfield when in possession. It was something Ajax did in the 90’s & something I remember being coached back then. Glenn Hoddle & Rudd Gullit were very good exponents of that position. Really pleasing to see today. COYR
  15. Me & my sons first game back today since the pandemic, to see him so excited when I told him we were going back to the Gate this morning was brilliant. Then to share that moment with him before the kick off for the Ashton Gate 8 was priceless, I don’t mind saying it brought a lump to my throat. The club have taken some stick previously for this sort of thing, but they did well today. Then to top it off City bring home 3 points! Great day, great to be back. Thought throughout the game there were some really good signs, sometimes lacked a bit of composure & nouse, especially in the last 5 minutes. But non the less, a good result. COYR

    Weimann

Took his goal really well, sometimes has too many touches, but I did notice & like his tactical awareness at times, filling in for someone out of position, his positional sense to make Boro play a certain pass. Energetic as ever. COYR
  17. People have short memories, it was his distribution ( when instructed or has the options! ), that was the reason he was brought in, in the first place. Good goalkeeper at this level. COYR
  18. First back for me & my son today since the Pandemic broke. A very excited boy, my son, not me! Well, maybe a bit! COYR
  19. I’ve only briefly seen the goals, but to me it looks like just before the first goal, Vyner tells DaSilva to pick up the goalscorer. To me, it’s a communication fault, something that’s been mentioned before. Yes, maybe he was on his heels a bit, but not on his own. COYR
  20. Got to agree. Think I read somewhere that they picked up more points in the calendar year than any other club in England. On top of losing his top striker at the end of last season & from my very minimal knowledge of their transfer dealings, they’ve spent hardly anything ( although a Sunderland fan on here seemed to think they have spent a lot on loans & wages ). Don’t think he’ll be out of the game too long in all honesty. COYR
  21. I see our old player Phil Jevons is in temporary charge of Sunderland. Not doing so well so far. COYR
  22. Absolutely, except for the bit about the owner, the board, all club staff, his wife & his daughter. COYR
  23. For a minute, I thought we would be announcing a new signing! COYR
  24. As you will be a bit more in the know, except for the fact they lost to Bolton 6-0 & not Derby! Did Sunderland spend a lot in the summer? Or big free signings? Generally interested. COYR
