Thought I was the only one! He almost smirks I think. COYR

Appreciate you’re just relaying what you have been told, but this is not going to happen. Certainly not anytime soon, that’s for sure. COYR

Agree with that. Looked composed, read the game well & actually looks like he’s getting better with games. No brainer in the current financial restraints, we know him, he knows us & also seems to be quite a positive influence, along with being popular. COYR

Personally think if you’re a p**ck when you’re 18, you’re probably going to be a p**ck when you’re 30 & so on. You’d like to think people learn as people get older, although you’d expect anyone at any age to know it’s not acceptable to smash up a train, get in peoples faces, swear & act intimidating, especially in front of families. But no doubt they will have their excuses, usually someone else’s fault. COYR

Robbie Turner could of probably handled himself. COYR

Have done that before with my boy & he loved it. Out of interest, was it advertised? Haven’t seen anything about it. COYR

Pearson also said something along the lines, that Ashton was good to work with and had done a good job. Fast forward a season and he might say something different now. They say what they have to say at that point. LJ has also said he could write a book on what went on behind the scenes, there’s a reason he didn’t say it at the time, he liked his job! COYR

If you’re boss gives you an instruction, you are weak if you follow it? There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes at a football club, that I don’t think a lot of people appreciate or understand. You only have to look at LJ’s last interview to know his real thoughts. COYR

As with most things on here, it depends on which side of the fence you sit. Which is probably why I find myself sitting on the fence quite a lot. But there is definitely a lot of personal vendettas against him, sometimes because of the jacket he wore, the coaching phrases he used, the dad he has, the fact he smiled/laughed in an interview, his height, the fact he replaced Cotts or because he backs himself to be able to coach. I wonder what percentage of people have actually met him, spent some time with him from all his detractors, to back up their seemingly personal agendas. COYR

Exactly this. It would be nice to clear up this, LJ left us in debt debate. Because from the best of my knowledge, the instructions for buying young ( ‘ one for the future ‘ ), came from above, the amount of signings would of at the very least been given the green light from people above, who would of been in control of finances etc. I seem to remember to buying so many young ones, because the plan was that when someone was sold, we would have a ready made player in the U23’s to step up, again, the plan was set from above. Is it a coincidence that the amount of signings Ipswich have made coincide with Ashton arriving? & listening to some on here, using certain agents. If LJ was to blame for anything, it would of been for his belief that he could of coached these players to become better & add value. I really don’t think that if LJ had a choice between Barry Bannan or Liam Walsh, he would of gone for Walsh! But that decision came from above. COYR

Have seen him live twice now & my opinion of him from watching him on tv is the same, poor man’s Cole Skuse/Marlon Pack. Didn’t Pearson say he was one of the best midfielders in the Championship? Really don’t see it & hope in some ways he’s not fit/ carrying a knock, so he can prove me wrong. COYR

How exactly has he created this 40/50 m of talent? He has openly said he doesn’t really ‘coach’, he has openly said at some points he has been forced to play them, when probably wouldn’t of wanted to, he didn’t sign any of them & has also said he doesn’t see the point loaning out players ( something that helped develop Semenyo to the point where Chelsea were after him ). Extraordinary performance is somewhat of a stretch. His signings have been poor & are currently seemingly getting away with it through ‘connection’ & yet I find myself happy to give him some more time. Funny old game. COYR

Was thinking exactly the same. He certainly isn’t the worse we have if you look at value for money ( wages ). His confidence is shot, that’s for certain. But as a player looking up & seeing the square root of zero moving in front of me & no one demanding the ball, I’d be inclined to go long, hence losing the ball. I’ve only seen three live games this season, plus TV games & he wouldn’t be top of my list of players to call out. Did ok, nothing more, nothing less. COYR

Peterborough at home (very early) match day thread

No, that’s just how long it takes some of our players to turn. COYR -

It’s my birthday & that has just made me feel even more old! Where has that time gone? Great game at the gate & what a performance. COYR -

I would say it would be Shilton last in the que, in fact he wouldn’t be anywhere near the que! COYR -
Gullit was definitely someone I thought of last night, along with Hoddle. But I think you would do well to beat Gullit, although I think Gerrard could of played all those positions that you described if he was asked. Although Gullit actually did! COYR

I might have to join you then! COYR

Another great example of a player who understood the game & could of played multiple positions. Might be wrong, but I think Gerrard actually started as a right back. COYR
-
All about having a footballing brain, understanding the game. For example, Wayne Rooney could play in any position you put him in. Some players just haven’t got the understanding, composure or awareness to play multiple positions, which in reality is crazy. COYR

Vaguely remember Bailey picking up an umbrella from a fan/blew onto the pitch? on a wet cold night game at the gate & doing a sort of ‘ dancing in the rain routine’. Can anyone else remember that? Or am I imagining that? Great character. COYR

Maybe it means Scott is off to play for someone in Turkey as well, explains why he wasn’t available for the last game! COYR
