  1. Not condoning any of the bad behaviour last night, some of it was very poor and cringeworthy. However, it is all a million miles away from the 1980s. I remember watching a match at Bolton in about 1988 where I was sat in the stand, and below me on the terrace was a mini riot involving about 100 City fans and 100 Bolton fans. You also had monkey chants at matches and bananas thrown, chants of 'get yer t*ts out for the lads' if anyone female aged 14-60 walked anywhere and had breasts larger than a B cup, coins, bricks, cups of P*ss etc thrown, chairs ripped out and thrown, fires lit on terraces etc. Today's match experience is so different and so much more sanitised. That said, I'll say again, some horrible behaviour still at times and the chanting at a 12 year old is out of order however much of a bell end his dad is.
  2. It is about being realistic not being negative. We were moving in the right direction under Nige and now that has all been ripped up. Today we were really poor for large spells of the game. We have won and I am delighted, but we'll have to be much, much better on Wednesday. I will be there cheering the boys on and I really hope I'm eating a large dish of humble pie at the end of the season, but I have concerns for our short term progress.
  3. 11 shots on target out of 10!!! Also 110% effort
  4. I can see him doing a Warnock and managing into his 70s. He has loads to offer and if he gets fit there will be a lot of clubs after him. I don't think he'll want his career to end with a sacking at City, I think there is more to come in the Nigel story.
  5. Why have you posted a photo of the Bernabeu?
  6. Yes, Scott Murray is yer right mid sorted Aizlewood should go in as centre half and then Coles can play right back
  7. Yes, beating his partner on numerous occasions and dead in his mid 50s due to alcohol is no laughing matter. I remember watching him play for City away at Oxford United (when they were a very good team) in the league cup and he scored an unbelievable goal. One of my favourite City goals of all time.
  8. But would you want to give them the glory of a first top flight season??
  9. Based on fans, East Midlands should have Derby County.
  10. Always been a great atmosphere whenever I've been to either Sheffield club and they travel in decent numbers to Ashton. Both grounds are traditional grounds and feel real stadiums. Genuine people as well, one or two knob heads aside of course.
  11. A bit like Rovers, I feel I dislike them too much to parachute them into the Prem. You're right though, games have a definite edge. Strange comment, as pretty much all the biggest ten clubs in the country are part of it.
  12. We all want Bristol City to storm into the play offs and make it to the Premier League (however unlikely that might feel now). But if you could make up your dream Premier League, who would make it in and why? Here is mine in no particular order - 1. Bristol City - best team in the land, so they have to be in 2. Cardiff City - love a Severnside derby and they'd take up one of the three relegation places 3. Swansea City - always has an edge to it, even if it isn't quite as fierce as Cardiff and they'd take up one of the three relegation places 4. Man City - best team in the country 5. Liverpool - huge club 6. Man Utd - huge club 7. Millwall - always an extra edge to games against them and they'd take up one of the three relegation places 8. Arsenal - huge club and I've never seen us play them. 9. Spurs - huge club and they humiliated Rovers. 10. Aston Villa - big club and their fans make a good atmosphere 11. Chelsea - big club and happy memories of beating them in the FA Cup 12. Leeds U - big club and we had one of our best results in our history against them 13. Sheff Utd - real football fans, deserve the top flight, no prawn sandwich brigade in Sheffield! 14. Sheff Weds - real football fans, deserve the top flight, no prawn sandwich brigade in Sheffield! 15. Wimbledon - I feel for them after they were shafted in the whole MK Dons debacle 16. Newcastle U - big club, passionate fans 17. West Ham Utd - I want to visit their new(ish) stadium 18. Everton - big club, very loyal fan base 19. Brentford - deserve to remain in the top flight after their miraculous journey 20. Notts County - great stadium, loyal fans, oldest club in the country...and they're not Forest. Nb: I did consider a Bristol derby in the Premier League, but it didn't feel right to rescue them from the lower leagues. I'm also convinced the PL would not allow garden furniture and tents as 'stadium facilities'.
  13. We miss James when he is out of the team. The stats don't lie, we concede fewer goals when James is in midfield.
  14. City won the game on Saturday, that was always going to make a big difference. Imagine we were losing 0-2 to Wednesday with that disjointed performance, the last 10 minutes the pro Pearson, anti board chanting would have echoed around the ground.
  15. Yes it is, he's been on bread and water for the past 3 weeks
  16. As others have said, all Bristol City fans will want Manning to be a great success. I have to say I have my doubts and I was very disappointed and frustrated when Pearson was dismissed. I will back Manning 100%, but I fear that the fans will turn quickly if we start to drop down the division as the wounds of letting Nigel go will take a long time to heal. For his and Lansdown's sake, I hope we get positive results and quickly.
  17. Although I voted for Brexit I am now concerned it might cost us a big name manager. I was told that Simone was keen to move to Ashton Gate, but dropped out fearing that due to brexit he wouldn't be able to get his favourite Pasta in his local supermarket.
  18. Jacob Rees Mogg to come in as assistant. City will continue to wear 'black shirts' away from home!
  19. Cheers Nigel, I really don't understand this decision as I'm convinced 95% of the fan base are firmly behind you. I hope you are back in a job soon and I'm sure you'll be given a rousing reception whenever you return to the Gate.
  20. City sounded very loud on the TV.
  21. Thank god, travelling from Swansea tomorrow and just had a mini heart attack that the game was tonight!
  22. Wow, don't forget we are averaging over 20K this season. It is the envy of many a team in the Championship and a few in the Prem as well. It is always a good idea to get new faces along to the Gate, but let us not be too harsh on our support, at the moment it is as large as it has been since 79-80.
