When we were last in the top flight, attendances were very low nationally when compared with today. I wouldn't mind guessing that 80%+ of clubs get higher average attendances now than they did in 76-80., Despite the fact that many of the clubs would have had higher capacities back in the standing days. I am convinced that IF City were to be promoted this season (allow me to dream a second), we would sell the 23,000 home tickets for every Premier League game next season without any problem.
  2. Any lap dancers? Enquiring for a friend ?
  3. It worked for Rovers..oh no it didn't
  4. Escaping deprivation, drugs, overcrowding, funny accents.... by coming from Weston to Bristol.
  5. The late Trevor Francis would be playing in that game I guess? As would the late Gerry Gow ?
  6. Terrible result for Johnson and Hibs, however, you'd fancy them to turn it around at Easter Road next week.
  7. 2-1 final score. Hibs should turn it around at Easter Road but that is still a very poor result.
  8. Of course Hibs have the second half and second leg to do something about it, but that is a shocking score so far. I hope for Johnson's sake they can turn it around.
  9. On the plus side my sons, daughter and nephews got to meet all the players, get autographs and photos and we're buzzing. There were huge numbers there and many of them decked out in City kit. On the downside, it was huge queues and a rugby style scrum at times. After being moved with my disabled mum by one steward, another tried to suggest that only one of our party could see the players with her. I think my snarl quickly changed the steward's mind or I could have had a football banning order before the season had started
  10. I've logged on and I have all of Kelly Brook's contact details! I've just e mailed the club to thank them ?
  11. Why don't they just put seats in the car park, there will be thousands locked out anyway.
  12. I like to see British and Irish teams get as far as possible
  13. Most one side derby in English football? It has to be, Forest v County and Stoke v Vale might challenge it I guess.
  14. I know I'm being greedy but I'd love Kalas to sign as well. That would be the cherry on the top of what is looking a very decent squad in my opinion
  15. In addition, Man City should get rid of Pep, he's yesterday's man.
  16. How sad, RIP Chris love and prayers to all his family and friends.
  17. It is important to stay grounded and not get carried away, it is a very tough league. However, I have a sneaky feeling we'll be promoted by January!
  18. I have a soft spot for Thomas, went through an awful lot with the untimely death of his wife in 2017. His Christian faith appears to have helped him rebuild his life, he was remarried in 2021 and now has a daughter. I think he would grow into the role if he got it. Barker is very knowledgeable about lower league and non league football especially. I would expect her to also do a decent job given time.
  19. You can't throw those out, they are priceless. I used to play Sunday morning pub football with an old striker who told me stories of all the goals he scored in local football when he was younger. I took it with a pinch of salt, until I refloored my loft and found old Evening Posts from the 1980s. Nearly every one mentioned the guy banging in goals for various local teams ?
  20. Future generations won't have this, the old newspapers found in obscure places, a treasure trove of past memories.
  21. And want to know how our rivals, future opponents etc are getting on. Much as I love City, I struggle to understand why somebody would only watch City and no other football at all. If he's taking the dog for a walk in the park, he must have to shut his eyes if there is a pub game going on. ?
  22. That is a shame, it is a good programme. They are obviously concerned the Premier League doesn't get enough exposure!
  23. Are we though? Our ground holds 26000 (for football with segregation). The away end is 3500 + and we already average 21000. So actually we are trying to attract fans already in our supporters pool of tens of thousands to attend more often. I'm not convinced Luton v Burnley 3pm on sky will leave people with a decision to make.
  24. Why was Joey Barton invited?
  25. I don't think this would be a factor unless it was Man Utd v Man City in a title decider and the City game was a dead rubber. City fans are City fans, nothing being shown in the Prem would divert me from going to Ashton Gate. It is pretty easy to watch live Prem games at 3pm on a Saturday now anyway and yet our attendances are the highest they have been since 79-80.
