  1. Nathan Jones should get it, he's been gone too long.
  2. I was there, packed away end. My old man and me climbed on a metal barrier at the back of the away end to get a decent view. A good Crewe side battered us for pretty much the entire 90 mins but Bailey scored a worldy goal. It was my 15th birthday so the 1-0 win was a great present. 31st October 1989...where do the years go!
  3. In some cases though, it is hoping people realise the importance of patience. By pointing out how many times reactionary fans are wrong, you hope they won't make the same mistake again. Pearson said when he took over it would take 3 years to get a team that could challenge in this division. At the time, 99% of the fans backed his appointment and accepted it would take many windows to get the squad he wanted that could challenge. He has now been in the job just over 2 years and the squad/team is shaping up nicely. 8 games undefeated, we now look very competitive. That is not to say there will be no bumps in the road, Norwich on Saturday for example will be a tough test despite what Burnley did to them yesterday.
  4. For balance, he is still playing in the Championship at 32, always thought he was a decent player myself. He does seem wound up when he plays against us though.
  5. To be fair, I can afford it and wouldn't want to miss this match. If it had been Wrexham at home I would have bought a ticket just the same. Can't really blame the club cashing in on a match v arguably the best team on the planet.
  6. I'm just doing the maths, me + 2 kids = a ****ing huge wedge.
  7. We'd never get a ticket for any Wembley finals, Rovers take 50,000 every time they go, don't you know!
  8. Not unheard of, Dundee Utility were a firm made up of Dundee and Dundee Utd fans who teamed up to take on the much bigger visiting firms of Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen, Hibs and Hearts.
  9. I've got that programme. I also remember going to Aldershot three, possibly four times in a season when we drew them in two cup competitions and one tie had 2 replays I think??
  10. The bench will be stronger than it has been for quite a while. That will be needed as we seek to get to Wembley twice for the FA Cup Final and Play off final ?
  11. Swindon could be a useful nursery club for us, they wear red and are called the Robins so they're halfway there. ?
  12. It doesn't get much bigger than Bristol City v Aldershot, no wonder you were hooked! ?
  13. Everyone's second favourite team. It would have been a dilemma for them, do they cheer on their beloved Man City or the famous quarters???
  14. Forget to mention, some nice comments about Gerry Gow RIP
  15. FA Cup 5th Round Draw | Bristol City (A) | Page 47 | Bluemoon - the leading Manchester City forum (bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk) Their supporters seem genuinely excited by the tie. A few comments of 'Bristol City will play a weakened team...it is the only one they have' but mostly saying what an amazing City Bristol is and how we are such a big City not to have been top flight for so long. They are moaning the fact that it is not a weekend game, but still pleased they'll get 4000 tickets and reckon it will be a banging night. Some old timers talking about coaches bricked in and big punch ups in years gone by.
  16. I agree, I'm still convinced that Guy Madjo will come good.
  17. Yes decent crowd, remember we only played them last month at home and this is the third time we have played them this season.
  18. Wael taking fares by the door, they've already picked up 2 old ladies in Horfield and dropped them to Kingswood for £3 return.
  19. Actually it was as recently as only 70 seasons ago.
  20. I remember ex Spurs legend Steve Perryman commenting that Ashton Gate was the most partisan stadium he had visited when he took his Brentford team there as a manager in the mid 1980s.
  21. The Gas haven't averaged above 10,000 for decades. Anyone who tries to compare their support to ours is completely deluded.
  22. wrong, it was the early to mid 50s that Rovers last got decent gates, so about 70 years ago now.
  23. That photo was not taken in the 1980s, just look at the clothing of the supporters. There were several seasons when Rovers wore all blue in the 1960s and the the quarters. Another point, there was 1000s locked out in the car park that day.
