  1. "Not big on football facts" - maybe you'd care to review and respond to Silvs post detailing the facts, and why you dispute the conclusion reached......? You've remained strangely silent on that post....I wonder why.....?
  2. Don't hold your breath, this would require the holy trinity of being able to read, being able to comprehend and being able to communicate....
  3. You could probably reply to most of his posts with that to be fair....
  4. I think it was simply because it wasn't applied consistently. Should be brought back with an amendment imo. If a player picks the ball up, runs x number of yards, then the free kick should be allowed to be taken from anywhere within that x radius the ball was dropped. thrown back, kicked etc. That allows the team to move it forward or back however it benefits them best. However.... That would be even less likely to be implemented consistently. There was talk of looking at how long on average the ball is in play during a match and making a change to the "90 minute" match time. I can't remember what the figure was they came up with but I think it was somewhere around the hour mark that the ball is actually in play and so game would be adjusted to 30/35 minutes each way with the clock stopped when the ball becomes dead. That would be the biggest single change to football as a whole for decades.
  5. So the reason we, and Marv. entered our worst run of form when LJ was injured was..........? Let's not romanticise things too much. Marv, as revered as he was and loved by all, couldn't pass a ball to save his life.
  6. Considering the amount of debt he underwrites and the amount of money put into the stadium rebuild I would find this unlikely....
  7. It's been done to death, but if he hadn't gotten injured against Watford we likely wouldn't have needed the play-offs in my opinion. The breaking up of the LJ/Marv midfield partnership led to our worst run of results that season. Without LJ in the team, Marv wasn't the same player. We essentially lost two players with that injury. LJ did the simple, unappreciated stuff that masked a lot of Marvs shortfalls, a fact that is often conveniently overlooked.
  8. Gotta love Santas Grotty Grotto. The "Superstore" looks more like the entrance to a house of horrors! (And, I guess, is just that!)
  9. Yep....but considering they outsource the IT, the club won't employ testers. The U in the UAT is key, and I've worked in development long enough to know that the end-users who test the product typically don't think that way. They more often than not will go with what they do naturally and if that's putting in their real details, that's what they do. The issue seems to be the database deployment, with Supporter Id's (probably top 1000, for instance) being replaced with the test users so that no testing emails etc go to real people, but it's all gone screwy somehow. At least with it now working (or seeming to) we can take some comfort that they do actually take backups of the database!
  10. Depends on the field type. If they were testing an address lookup that required a valid postcode then real address data will have been needed to ensure this worked correctly. Notwithstanding that, all testing should've been done against a database on a separate Test server, so it looks like they've either done this and ended up somehow merging the databases with the existing live environment, copied the data back from live and deployed the whole package including database records to live or they've conducted UAT against a live database, which is bonkers! Mr P D, which may not be his actual initials, I expect will be an employee of the club and also one of the test users.
  11. Joey was in charge of the advert for new players and made a Freudian Slip when asking for World Beaters......
  12. Absolutely need to be careful with his recovery from this one. No point in rushing him back while we have other options. Let him recover properly and just hope that the double injury doesn't take anything away from what looks/looked to be a promising career.

    Free postage

Hi Jerry, Is there any reason behind the minimum spend for free postage in the online shop increasing from £75 to £100? I appreciate there's the option to collect from store, but to be honest there's a valid argument that there's no real excuse for any football club to be charging postage at any amount considering the mark-up on replica kits and merchandise etc, but certainly not putting a three figure limit on purchases!
  14. I think I know what's going on here. We know how Jon the club likes to plant easter eggs ahead of a big announcement. This is no different. The roof video has been filmed and this shirt was used for it.... #AnnounceHarryMaguire!
  15. Not sure his sexuality has anything to do with it.......? There's a difference between bigger and taller (I'm sure Silvio will jump in on this one.....) He may have been tall but he could probably have done with bulking up. There's definitely a player in there, but one that I feel may well have done better with us coming up from league one rather than straight into the Championship. Right player, wrong timing perhaps. Shame it didn't work out here, but good luck to him.
  16. Protest over refereeing decisions. Would've been 150-0, but the referee gave one of the own goals as offside.......
  17. You just know they'll make a comeback at a fiver a pop.
  18. Whoever thought of that probably shouldn't take their laptop into PC World for repair any time soon....
  19. This is both terrifying and awful at the same time!!! https://twitter.com/BurnleyOfficial/status/1681574610507104257?s=19
  20. So Billy Wedlock would no longer have any of his 26 caps.....?
  21. Louis was often seen at the Gate watching City before he joined Southampton. Was usually sat in the Lower Lansdown in the block next to the Heineken Lounge, so I would say he was in it as a fan, personally.
  22. You see, I read that as Jailbird is ok because he's not a Nazi in public in Germany!
  23. He was left with a bloody awful squad and couldn't get the best out of what he took on. He did say in interviews that he was tasked with reshaping the setup I believe (I think this was the birth of the 5 pillars), and conceded that he likely wouldn't still be here to see those changes happen. Yes, some much of the football under him was dire, and he was a really dour manager to listen to, but he was a very intelligent guy whose interviews were well worth reading rather than listening to as what he had to say was always really interesting.
  24. I think this is also a key factor for potential rising stars. They see that we take a player who was rejected by the likes of Bournemouth and Southampton and harness that talent to produce the £25m player we've seen. I think the clubs aim should be, and probably is, to not be "ok within FFP boundaries", but rather looking at getting to the stage where we're not even having to think about whether or not we may need to look at ways to ensure we meet the criteria. A succession of Academy graduates that get their big move to the Prem is a phenomenal advertisement for what this club can offer a young lad. It will give us spending power and pull. It's just a shame AshtonYate wasn't around to see the much maligned Academy evolve to what it is today. He'd probably still find a way to bash it mind!
