  1. Yeah, but it's the hope that kills you!
  2. And there was me thinking it was just the fanbase that was deluded. Maybe it is and the club themselves have realised this so just release what they want knowing they'll just eat it all up for breakfast!
  3. They're nearer to DFS range now they have their nice new owner and they're back to being the 6th richest club in the land.... But the reality is that they're still B&Q!
  4. Genuinely don't think he'd have a clue who Sam Baldock is. He predates Downseys time here, and I'm sure it's been said that he was much of a football fan.
  5. It seems she missed a match last week due to illness. The only small crumb of comfort her family could take is that if it was an illness that led to her death, then at least if she had to pass she didn't suffer for long. Horrible news though. RIP
  6. Surely the biggest problem with Downseys mic is that it's switched on in the first place?!?
  7. That was a pain in the arse for locals back in 1485 mind, digging up the car park to bury him under it. Took the council ages to get it back to standard.....
  8. While I agree to move away from retro, I wouldn't be against them redoing this seasons third shirt with the proper badge in green replacing the splat. I've wanted yellow and green for a change shirt for bloody ages and they sodding well do that with it! ?
  9. And Bailey Wright awaits his suspension... I actually think he has a higher ceiling than Semenyo. Plays with courage, ridiculously quick with and without the ball at his feet, tracks back to cover others mistakes as well as his own, great ball control and mature beyond his years. And at only just 17? Plenty of time to get the tackling worked on. The kid is really exciting. How good is it though that our Academy is finally producing young player after young player that is ready for inclusion in a Championship matchday squad? I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's a shame that the much maligned AshtonYate didn't live to see what the Academy ultimately has produced for us.
  10. A little like their new gazebo stand then...? Anyway - it doesn't matter if they get the land or not, they'll probably still start building something on it in the hope that the situation changes...It's what they do!
  11. That's next weeks team talk sorted then, @Silvio Dante!
  12. With a second verse of Thank you Micky Bell, Thank you Micky Bell, Thanks for Sammy, Thanks for Sammy, Thank you Micky Bell
  13. If anyone's votes in the next election are swayed by the approach taken by any party with this situation then I really just give up on humanity! They do say it's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.......
  14. The running of the football club. I realise it's not convenient for you, but wages do form a big part of that and so have to be included!
  15. Dropping our best player of the last 12 months (who's still with us anyway) or shifting him out of position is absolute madness. Either Naismith or Cam will drop into the centre for Friday. If it's Naismith then I'd better start topping up my blood pressure meds now! Am I getting confuddled in my old age or has Tins suggested that CB could well be Prings ultimate position? If so, then him, with Roberts slotting in at LB would make more sense from a defensive point of view.
  16. I'm not sure of the relevance of this comment (I appreciate you weren't the only one to make it) - the men can afford to donate theirs to charity so I'm not sure what they do with their earnings has to do with what the women are paid. So you decided you wouldn't let someone else influence what you watched....by allowing someone else to influence what you didn't watch?!? Riggggghhhhhht....! I do have a wry smile when people bandy around the term "politically correct" like it's a bad thing. There's a difference between political correctness and political correctness gone mad. The latter is when something is pushed with no regard to mitigating factors. The former is just the right thing to do. This discussion, if carried out on the basis of "women shouldn't be paid less than men, so there", as it seems to be in some quarters, is indeed political correctness gone mad. The simple mitigating fact here is economics. To pay women in the WSL the equivalent of men in the EPL would cripple the sport and bring it to a grinding halt just as it's gaining momentum. As someone else has said, in 30 years time you would expect the gap to narrow somewhat. But it needs to be allowed to grow organically.
  17. It's probably more to do with the fact that fans in this country are bloody idiots who can't be trusted to not just lob them in any old direction. As for the display today, it looked ok on Robins TV, but unfortunately didn't see the gentleman's image raised. I presume members of his family are on here hence the cloak and dagger approach otherwise that approach wouldn't make sense. In which case, to those friends/family my heart goes out to you. Watching someone pass from this vile disease is cruelty of the highest order and you have my heartfelt sympathy.
  18. Is it ok that I don't understand what the display means......?
  19. From what I can see I think the first kit to have a badge on it was 1900-1903, which could narrow it down further. I couldn't see a squad picture in any timescale that matched it though.... Lots of big bushy Magnum PI moustaches there, so this timescale would also fit with turn of the century.
  20. Could always ask Alan Curbishley...he'd probably know..... In all seriousness I do love these old photos and to be fair old photos in general. Fascinating to see the changing look of everyday things, whether it be clothes, football supporters, teams, grounds, transport etc.
  21. ? Not that I can see. They've not been in the bottom tier since the 60's
  22. Quite some feat considering Nige has only had 2 full seasons and Holden was only in charge for half a season.... You can blame Transfermarkt all you like but these are things that you should just know if you want to use them as points to pillory the club.
  23. I had in mind the Luke Freeman sending off against Brentford in our first game back in the Championship.... With the exception that Luke didn't actually connect!
