  1. He’s already taken over from Hildreth as the best batsman not to have played for England. Been unlucky with injuries just at the wrong time plus he often hits form just as the crap schedule offers no cricket. Classy player
  2. Exeter celebrating there first goal with the Gas fans looking on solemnly. The first 2 blocks of seats are theirs too, not sold out by the looks of it but after the 4th goal, 24 minutes, there were a few empty rows for the rest of the game. A very early exit
  3. To every fellow City fan that was at Twerton Park that May evening, let me tell you being here at Exeter is ******* mint Some Gasheads left after the 4th goal, some look like they're crying and all those that are left just sang what the kin hell was that as they left the field. Joey looking like he wants to fight someone. Scènes !
  4. I think I might go, still trying to catch up on all the lost live football so it’s either Torquay or Exeter. I think it’ll be Exeter especially now Owura Edwards has gone on loan there.
  5. Anyone can ask their current employer if they can go part time. Instead of retiring and then looking for a part time job, just do less with your current job. Ive just done it to see how it goes, I’m 10 years from getting my pension but mortgage and debt free so working 3 days a week feels like a good work- leisure ballance. So far so good but already I’m thinking in the winter I’ll be pleased to have those 3 days at work, not just financially but to keep busy when the golf course is closed and it’s too cold, wet and rough for kayaking or fishing
  6. I know, just when we're cheering on Glos.........
  7. We had a tournament of 2 halves. When I saw the schedule for the rest of the tournament I wasn’t too disappointed. A semi final tomorrow and Tuesday and the final at Trent Bridge on Thursday, a day nighter. What a shambles.
  8. Crikey! Who’d be a Bristol football fan, can’t remember when either team actually won a game
  9. Unbelievable talent. I was thinking from now on we should ditch expensive overseas signings unless they are exceptional talent like Babar for T20s. We’ve got more than enough talent home grown, too many times in the past an average overseas player has kept a local lad out of the team and gained us nothing
  10. 3 photos from yesterday. A forever young James Hildreth ducks a bouncer. The 2 George’s celebrate Bartlett’s century, the other George, Thomas, is so new he doesn’t even have a name or number on his shirt. Another big crowd to watch pretty much 2nd XI cricket
  11. Proves how much I know, watching them play at Torquay I thought Connor Evans had a great chance of coming back and making it with us, Jake Andrews a fair chance and Janneh a slim chance
  12. It doesn’t take much but it doesn’t take much to swing the other way, 2 quick goals and we’ll be booking Wembley hotels
  13. Oh yes, and a decent debut it was too. I think I’m right in saying he’s played about 45 minutes since early May, so really needs the minutes tonight.
  14. A great day in the sun despite the result, brilliant to see the 2 George’s bat, one in desperate need to get back in form, the other came as a shock to see on the team sheet. You can forgive Leonard’s bowling, though not sure why Brooks didn’t play. But MDL had a really bad day, just as I was warming to him.
  15. This is an odd feeling, a competitive City game that we can’t watch. Looking forward to it regardless. Even my prediction of 7 to 8 changes was off the mark
  16. This is about 70 more than I thought at 1 point. I'd forgotten Thomas existed, brilliant
  17. Welsh Fire aren't local, they're a different country for goodness sake. I think the Birmingham lot are our locals, especially with Smeed staring
  18. It’s really weird, Somerset are producing the best team the county had ever seen, yet the way cricket is run now we’re never going to see the cricket in a way we used to. For these 6-8 weeks we’re in now they should all be playing almost non stop but there’s 4 or 5 that won’t have played at all. It’s unlikely kids will ever watch red ball cricket in the school holidays like I did. Madness But as you say, such an exciting time for the county, well done Somerset…….with a big help from Devon…..and a little help from Cornwall
  19. Yes they’ve been really unfair with him since covid started. Now Overton and Leach are facing not playing any cricket in the height of summer. It’s a short career, I don’t know how missing a chunk of high summer to carry drinks when you’re in your prime can be anything but scandalous
  20. Even us Somerset fans haven’t seen much of him live, I don’t know off hand but maybe 2 matches played in front of Somerset fans? One in which he played very well but 2nd fiddle to Lammonby. Let’s hope his progress doesn’t stutter like poor old Tom Banton’s has.
