  1. I know it’s difficult nowadays as overseas players are rarely available for the whole of our summer like they used to be. But once we couldn’t get Will Sutherland because of injury we shouldn’t have bothered, unless a real gem came up like Henry last season. I’d be very surprised if Pretorius performs any better than Green would have. And the point is the club are in big cost cutting mode, no Brian Rose gates on the Morrisons side open during championship games. The majority of the Somerset stand, which offers good respite from the burning sun in the afternoons, closed. Yet they spend thousands on bringing a player unlikely to better what we’ve got. Anyway, besides that little moan things are generally looking good at the club, just give me a wicket to cheer me up this afternoon!
  2. I expected a backlash from Notts today but even so this isn’t going at all well. Can’t for the life of me understand why we loan Ben Green out and spend our hard to come by cash on Pretorius.
  3. Oh and Richard Gould was there with his dog. I was wondering if Nige was there, he’s a big cricket fan and supports Notts I believe.
  4. Agree, I don’t know why I enjoyed that more than I have for a long time. I was even wishing I lived in Taunton so I could easily pop in and out for every game this summer. I’ve liked the look of this squad for a from the start and with the a bit of luck and the weather gods in our favour who knows where we could end up….. Second probably. A real long batting line up with Abell still to return and if we can keep Aldridge and Overton fit, Leach and Bashir will also have a lot to do as the summer progresses. Really looking forward to the summer ahead.
  5. As someone who was undecided but always probably going to renew, I am now really looking forward to next season, misplaced optimism probably. I wonder if any others have been persuaded to renew when a month ago they were in the “not sure” or “probably not” camp?
  6. There aren't any seats behind or in front of me. Behind is the wall which has the corporate boxes behind and in front it's just steps.
  7. I’m renewing tomorrow. This winter and it’s endless rain, grey and dullness has made me realise how much I need to escape Devon for a few hours of city life. Of course I could still come up regularly without bothering with football but there’s no way I would do it as regularly as I do now. Seeing Bristol friends and others from further afield is very important too. I don’t want to lose my seat, great view, nobody sat behind me or in front of me, a great bunch of fellow fans around me. There’s something else which I’ve forgotten…… ……….oh yeah, last and not quite least, the football. I’m already looking forward to being the first to declare we’re safe for another season around the middle of February as we make that 12th position our own.
  8. My memories of Rotherham back then is of scrapyards, pubs with ridiculously cheap and very good beer and outside toilets at the ground. Only somewhere like Rotherham could vacate their ground and it still remains a ground. Most other places it would have become a supermarket or flats within months
  9. It could turn out to be a very rare bargain. We didn’t play in a cup final in 1985!!
  10. This thread has enough information to have a great time in our great city. It almost seems a shame to have to squeeze Bristol City v Rotherham into the day
  11. I do like some old grounds, I found the old Rotherham a bit like visiting a museum in an interesting way. Also liked the old Brentford. However, recentish visits to Villa park, the away end at Elland rd and Fratton park had me thinking they were all close to being unfit for purpose. Horrible experience.
  12. It’s great how an influx of English has improved the Indian food around Blagnac. I had an evening there fairly recently, early flight, and saw there was 3 nearby, the two you mentioned and one called Layaja which was in Cornebarrieu and the pub was called The Temple Meads. Sadly we had eaten a big lunch so didn’t try any. I did go to one of them when I was living in Carcassonne, a little excursion after a trip to IKEA. Very good from memory and I’d forgotten about it until now.
  13. My reply was a bit tongue in cheek but I think everything is legal until you access subscription channels without a subscription, then as you say that’s too good to be true. From what I can gather it’s only those supplying that have been prosecuted. I’m sure others will be more informed than me.
  14. Just make sure you’ve blocked everyone on this forum that work for the police when you come back to tell us you’ve bought one
  15. I hadn’t realised both Flintoff’s sons played.
  16. Over the years there have been games that I’ve been surprised at when they’ve shaken hands. Nowadays especially since T20 things can turn so quickly with someone hitting 20 off an over or 3 wickets falling in an over.
  17. Only the 3rd time every county has played and every game has ended in a draw.
  18. Yes we had one in Carcassonne that was ran by a couple from India. When we got to know them we explained that we liked our curries with a bit more spice than the a French and they would prepare meals especially for our taste. They soon realised that most Brits liked it that way and would then offer any Brits eating there the spicier menu. Our French friends could barely handle a Korma. Also had a very good one in Marseille once but besides that very hard to find decent ones.
  19. Kasey Aldridge is my new favourite Somerset player. I loved the look of his batting last year with his ever improving bowling he COULD make a genuine very good all rounder. Of course we’ve seen many promise so much only to falter, Banton the latest, but atm I love the look of him
  20. Everyone was fine on Saturday, though we weren’t long in there as I had a train to catch. These things can happen though. Enjoy Rassay, if you come back with a glowing review I might have to make a summer trip up at some point.
  21. Come on Somerset, 5 to go for a famous victory.……….maybe? No! Ill take the draw
  22. It feels like it’s rained every day this winter/spring where the hell is it when you need it!
  23. Holy shit, I had kind of forgotten about the T20 effect. Overton and Gregory were making it look so easy I thought they and the other 2 would bat until time to shake hands.
