    To be more precise:

Beaten by Scunthorpe, who were on the verge of the playoffs last season.

Beaten by Bolton, who were two divisions above us in May.

Beat Oxford, who finished above us and were tipped to do well in L1.

Beat Cardiff.  Your rivals, who do better than you.

    Not brilliant, but not bad.

And as for calling 9,000 in League 1 "pathetic", the vast majority of clubs in that league would bite your hand off for an attendance like that.

I'm not trying to big us up, but just hoping that some more reasonable posters on here might see that what we have achieved in the past two years is actually pretty impressive.  We're not going to storm League 1 as you did, but to be where we are now compared to May 2014 is something to be a little "prowed" of.

But according to you lot, you're coming for us . Constantly over exaggerate how amazing your fan base is when in reality it ain't is it. You wouldn't get so much shit from us if you didn't believe your own hype. #gaslogic #ticktock

Agreed. We ain't the finished item and thus far have had the rub of the green, we will get found out eventually and I fear tonight our castle will crumble, bugger it tho, we might piss em big style, just can't call it, what do the bookies say ???

We weren't at it first half against Wigan and burton. If we start like that it could be a long night. But like you say it's tough to call

No not brainwashed. . Honoured to be a GasHead from when my dad first took me to Eastville .. What would ever disuade me from supporting Rovers .. ??

Nobody mentioned not supporting them, we all love our clubs. I've never known a fan base like yours though to be so blinkered as to what's going on behind scenes and you question nothing. Bizarre to say the least

Definitely no inferiority complex .. we're just doing our thing .. struggled yes but so have you .. And at this moment in time it is what it is ..

Don't answer the difficult questions do you Phil . About 3 or 4 pages ago I asked you why you all get brainwashed into thinking wally got plenty of cash and that this evolution not revolution is complete bollox and that he hasn't got a pot to piss in. The head goes back in the sand again though doesn't it Philip me ole babber .

Annoyed at what? 2 succesive promotions, Chelski in the 2nd round, new owners ? Yeah im pissed right off :-)

Ha ha ha ha ha ha you were non league. Getting excited about playing Chelsea u21 squad. Your new owner is skint and you got marquees for stands . Bet your creaming yourself .

You wont be jealous of who we're playing in the league then if your getting giddy about the plastic clubs rezzies.

I agree with Danny ... Progress is progress .. I still can't believe we went up twice in a row !! .. Our new owner sasaid from the start evolution not revolution as regards the club .. if he'd had spent absolutely crazy money you lot would've took the piss .. and just because he's trying to build gradually you still take it anyways! ! .. And I won't ever criticise our club when they are trying their hardest to make life better for their fans no matter how small the improvements. . Onwards We Go !!

What I can't believe Phil is that you are so typical of most gas heads. You have your head buried so deeply in the sand it's unreal. You seem to believe all the crap that's being spouted about evolution not revolution etc etc.   It's appears common knowledge now to most sensible people that wally has no money to speak of , in football terms anyway.  Personally I think Higgs done him like a kipper. Ask yourself, if he was so rich why buy rovers instead of the likes of villa or Leeds or forest ? Why did Gillingham turn him down. Why the hell would he buy the club before the court appeal with sainsburys ? . It doesn't add up to be honest. Lastly why tart up the memorial ground if a new ground was  2,3 or even 4 years away from completion . Like I said , it doesn't make sense.

Yes I did Fordy although it didn't gain much traction.

Anyone who asks awkward questions or pokes fun at some of the absurdities which emanate from the Mem is automatically labeled a City fan and I can only think this is a kind of defence mechanism. Why doesn't it happen on OTIB ?  Over the years I've noticed City fans being highly caustic in their comments about your players, managers and directors and yet no one here calls them a "Gashead". Why is that ?

I've said before that Wael Al-Qadi appears to be a genuine and sincere man but it doesn't mean he is beyond reproach. The point made above was really aimed at the comment in his interview where, when asked about news of the UWE "file", he said "you will hear it from them" meaning the two people negotiating with the UWE. Now to me that's shirking responsibility, it's not leading from the front and it gives the impression of hinting that "bad news may be on the way but don't blame me if it is". I may be wrong about this, it may be down to a lack of experience or over stressed humility on his part, but surely it's better to confront concerns like this when you come across them rather than look the other way. If others believe that such a comment was a sensible one then let them defend it vigorously but it doesn't help anyone to bury ones head in the sand and simply accuse those who highlight difficult issues of "swinging the other way" as we used to say at the Clifton Lido.

Mindful that it's a City forum and this thread is meant to be a bit of fun I'll leave it there as I've got a date with Dot Clarke  (  Don has gone fishing with Brian )

    Regarding your first paragraph Bert.

ive got a few gas mates as I come from the wrong side of town . We've had this chat before and gas heads always say they're more loyal . I remember back in the eighties ( after coopers sacking ) being just one time when we protested outside the Williams ( grandstand) we have always questioned things at Ashton if we're not happy and been called fickle for it.

A few seasons ago when the gas were struggling at the bottom of the basement I asked why they don't protest , vote with their feet etc. They just shrugged and said what's the point.

Ive always thought gas heads are as much to blame as Higgs was in some ways as they just put up with the shite they're dealt .

  8. Thing is philgas, you sound as if you're burying your head in the sand same as the rest. For a start, if the UWE was being built why is he spending money on the mem ?  Even if it's just a few thousand why bother if the new ground was going to be built within the next 3-4 years it doesn't make sense. It was well known yer old mate piggsy was out in the Middle East with his begging bowl and managed to hoodwink wally the camel fiddler. He's got his money back and is probably counting it in Italy as we speak . Meanwhile wallys telling you all he'll build from the bottom up and take his time because he just hasn't got the money.

On the contrary, I'm pleased he's backing the manager to do it his way. I would be more suspicious if he came in throwing cash around like confetti at a wedding, a la Notts County. I'd rather that the club was developed in a sustainable way, by funding the new stadium and having a sound financial basis, rather than trying to buy success.

In all honesty, it would annoy me for a few days/weeks, but I wouldn't necessarily blame the bloke. It's his job, and he'd earn 3/4/5 times as much, and play in a higher league. He's not a Gashead born and bred so why anyone would expect him to act like one is beyond me. He'd be the same as the vast majority of ex-players, if I saw him in the street I'd shake his hand and say hello, but he becomes just another opponent on the pitch. He's not Rickie Lambert, to be fair. I think there are sometimes players who do develop such an affinity with a club/supporters that they wouldn't move to a rival, Lambert strikes me as one of them. Not that Taylor hasn't done well for us but ultimately his spell with the club will be remembered as a very dark period in our history given half of his time has been in non league.

    (Gasheads can operate multi-quote... ;) )

You say fund the new stadium but surely you're not that deluded. He's spending money putting lipstick on the pig that is the stolen mem. Why would he waste money on that dump if building work was imminent at  uwe ?

This. Completely this.. If writing pithy bitter comments on our forum is the best celebration they can muster after their team has won promotion I actually pity them. I'd be out celebrating if I were them. It's the best they're going to get for a long long long time.

Exactly. I've got a few gas mates and I never gave them a thought for days after we won the league last year . Bizarre lot ain't they

See you 2017/18- twice at least.Nah not on a wind-up as you know, can't be bothered.Respect to the few that actually praised our efforts. I ain't got the foggiest about the new owner though we will find out soon enough. Wouldn't need too many additions though league 1 is a porker to get out of as you know....

Can't understand why you are on our forum when you've been promoted me old cocker. Why ain't you out on the piss with your mates.

The first half was pretty open. In the second half we were well and truly taught a lesson in football - we've had a few this season, that was definitely one of the better ones.

Don't agree. We created all our own problems. Yes they're a good side but it doesn't help when we keep giving the ball away and dwelling to long on it. Think they won all 50/50 balls second half as well. Not good enough , we're better than that and should of got something out of the game.
