Pearson showed what it is like having actual decent professional football people in the building

I also just think it’s totally shown the Lansdowns up.

I never really bought the anti-Lansdown stuff at all. Just didn’t really believe it, to be honest. Or, maybe didn’t think they were perfect, but didn’t see how we could blame them for our strikers being crap etc.

But now that this has happened, it’s thrown everything in the past into the question as well. And now I’m thinking, the signs were always there…

I don’t have anything personally against SL. And it’s clearly not been all-bad. But ultimately it’s been 25 years of failure on the pitch, and I think we need change.

  2. This feels like quite a significant moment for the fanbase in some ways.

I don’t know, it’s like we’ve all collectively finally decided we’ve had enough of being amateur and underperforming… and are demanding better. From the owners, not the manager.

Hope that we’re able to successfully channel this, longer term, into the start of something.

The injury crisis is the biggest threat as since thats really started to bight out attacking threat has gone off a cliff.

However, once those injuries clear up we should pick back up towards 1.5 points per game.

Add in that there are two or three truly shit teams in the division and I'm confident we will finish mid table as predicted in August.

There does seem to be a clear cut bottom three at the moment, it's true. That said, it's not difficult to see Sheff Weds getting a result at AG next Saturday. Won today so suddenly optimism comes back, will have a vocal support, we're in chaos... 😪

    • Injury crisis
    • Poor recent form
    • Fans hostile to the club
    • General sense of total chaos at the club

I expect to see the opposite of a 'new manager bounce' personally. I predict the sense of giving everything/running themselves into the ground that we've seen from the players will disappear somewhat. Look how QPR went into total freefall last season.

We're only 4 points better off than 21st as it stands. Nine off the relegation spots. Still a very, very long 32 matches to play. Feeling ultimately very pessimistic about the club this evening – do we need to worry about relegation?

A physio at the club, tweeted then deleted. Maybe he should concentrate on his job rather than celebrate NP being sacked?

Not a great look for any professional is it. Although, must be said, kind of intriguing to see a different viewpoint coming from some people within the club.

  5. Does anyone know if there’s something to do with the grass/pitch at Ashton Gate and the training ground?

Would love to see stats about how many of our injuries have been at Ashton Gate/HPC rather than away.

You’re satisfied to be “reliably mid-table in the Championship”? Really? You’re honestly saying after nearly four decades on earth, you’re happy to have seen us achieve less than Huddersfield, Bournemouth, Brentford, Swansea, Cardiff, Swindon, Barnsley, Reading, Wigan, Burnley, Blackpool, Stoke and Bradford?

Good for you. I’m sick to death of it.

Totally bloody agree. I actually said as I left the ground tonight that I’m not sure we’re necessarily that boring a team to watch, but my god we are so boring as a club.

Something needs to happen. We are painfully stale. I’ve never previously been one to think the owners are the issue, but frankly it’s a worth a shot that they might be.

  7. Does anybody really think the presence of Mark Ashton is going to create some sort of Ipswich-City rivalry? I don't. Beyond OTIB I doubt many know or care.

Can't decide whether I think Ipswich's game being cancelled at the weekend is a good thing or a bad thing for us. They'll be more rested, obviously. But god knows there's been so many times when we've looked slow to wake up after an international break. Wonder whether, if we have a fast start, Ipswich might be caught out after nearly 3 weeks of training?

  8. I’m not sure any of us can be completely confident what’s going on.

But one thing we can say for sure is the “hierarchy’s” complete lack of communication is allowing us to fill in the silence ourselves with rumours and conjecture.

Which doesn’t breed confidence in their ability to run an organisation very well…

It's only two games in but we are 4th - fourth - in the attendance table, above the following :

    Manchester United

    Manchester City

    Tottenham

    Aston Villa

    Everton

    and Leicester, Brighton, West Ham.

This is a great effort and just goes to show why the club should be investing in the playing side! We could be the fourth biggest club in the land 🤪

  10. I am interested in the women's team, but can't say I followed this summer's transfer dealings. Would anyone better informed be able to summarise the situation at the club? It looks like we're in for a struggle.

It seems a real shame and an opportunity missed that we wouldn't 'go for it' as much as we can whilst we're still one of the bigger teams in the country. The women's game is growing massively. I wonder whether in 100 years City fans will look back on these years as the golden age for Bristol City WFC – much like our only men's FA Cup final was 120 odd years ago now!

At the very least, it's embarrassing that we're being tonked every week and the match reports being so prominent on BBC Sport and Sky. Whether you have much interest in the women's game or not, it's still Bristol City being prominently embarrassed every week at the moment. Frustrating.

Or have I got this wrong? Do we still live in hope?

    Interesting sample size.

Includes two away games (the only ones we’ve lost) against 2 teams that were in the Prem last season.

Surely not quoted to find the worst possible outcome?

Last 7 games? W3 D1 L3, see? Different conclusion & not just ex Prem sides..

11 games so far W4 D3 L4, that seems the fairest reflection on our form.

I was quoting our most recent games, to highlight a downturn in results, and hoping for a stop to the mini-rot in our next game.

We’re 14th. Despite what had felt a relatively solid start to the season. I don’t want to see us slide down the table. Surely that’s fair?
