  1. They’re not finished yet, but results in the National League tonight mean Yeovil slip into the relegation places and they’re in dreadful form.

Wasn’t so long ago they were a division above us, and competing against us regularly. Could be having local derbies against Taunton and Bath next year. Although, some might say that’s their natural level for most of their history.

Spare also a thought for Scunthorpe Utd who definitely do look finished and relegated to the NL North. Another side who we competed with not so very long ago - beating us to the 2007 League 1 title.

looking at the table that has to be the strongest top six teams i have seen in that division, who gets automatic and who wins at wembley is anyones.

Wouldn’t fancy trying to get out of it ourselves! Strangely I think Barnsley might sneak up in the autos with Sheff W, and annoyingly could see Derby scraping through the playoffs.

I would say the area around AG is a glorified industrial estate out of the centre....?

I guess depends which direction you come in to be fair.  Anyway, I sort of meant compared to the Madjeski, DW Stadium etc. it certainly feels way more rooted in a proper area of the city.

  4. Football clubs belong at the heart of communities, and I think cities/towns lose something when new stadiums – no matter how impressive – are built in glorified industrial estates out of the centre. There's over one hundred years of history at AG, the pubs, the same terraced streets... give me that any day over somewhere with better parking facilities.

  5. Can’t help but think last night was perfect prep for Cardiff. For the benefit of Cardiff, that is.

I can’t help feel a bit ‘after the Lord Mayor’s show’, plus with the unbeaten run ending, and being run ragged for most of the 90 mins…

I’ll be very impressed with the team if we beat Cardiff.

What would you rather… a win on Tuesday or Saturday against Cardiff?

100% Man City. If we beat them and reach the QFs it probably outstrips or nearly outstrips the Man U game.

If we beat Cardiff, we’ll have forgotten about it by mid-March? We’re not going down, we’re 95% certain not to go up. The cup is the last proper excitement I’d say (beyond enjoying our good form more generally).
