  1. Or any other team that was in Div 3 North and then in Div 4 before or after City were.
  2. 18 minutes in and the TV camera homed in on the BS3 flag of St George!
  3. No, I just recorded / looked up points awarded at the time. 3 pts for win was introduced for 81 - 82 season. If it had been three points for a win in1976, Bolton not City would have been promoted. City W19 D 15 = 38 + 15 = 53 pts. 3 pts for a win would be 19 pts more = 72. Bolton W 20 D 12 = 40 + 12 = 52 pts. 3 pts for a win = 20 pts more = 72 and they had a better goal difference than City

  8. Fun fact about Ross County.....there are more seats in the stadium than there are people in Dingwall, so they actually do very well to get the attendances they do

    FA Cup 22-23

At match 192, Westbury are home to Bournemouth. Does Bournemouth FC get their mail mixed up with that for AFC Bournemouth? Anyone signed for the wrong club? ?

Good to see Kyiv playing, even if it had to be in Poland.
  12. Attention those who claim Rovers have a massive faithful fan base. Blundell Park has a 9,000 capacity. Grimsby have sold 5,500 season tickets.

Champions League 2nd qualifying round,1st leg tris week. Last night Linfield beat Bodo/ Glimt 1-0 ? Earlier in this thread the complaint was raised that the Champions of smaller leagues have to play qualifiers whilst 4th placed in other nation's leagues come in at the lucrative stage. Here's UEFA's explanation:- Before the highly-publicized Champions League group stage, there are two preliminary rounds, four qualifying rounds, and one playoff round for teams to progress through, hoping to reach the popular and lucrative group stage. While 26 teams have already confirmed places in the group stage for the 2022/23 competition, there are still six spots available for teams that progress through the qualifying and playoff rounds. Placement of teams within each phase is determined by UEFA's country coefficient, which is a mathematical formula that accounts for the finishing position of teams from that league in European competitions over the previous five years. There are two coefficients to consider: league coefficient and club coefficient. As previously explained, league coefficient measures the overall achievements of a whole league in European competition, used for determining how many teams from each league qualify to the competition and what round of competition they enter. Club coefficient, meanwhile, is used to determine which teams in each round of competition are seeded for the draw and which teams are unseeded. The second qualifying round introduces a Champions Path and a League Path, which are both constructed as they sound. The Champions Path includes all teams that qualified for the competition by winning their domestic league, while the League Path includes teams that qualified by domestic table finish but did not earn a league title.
  14. Just for the record; the 39-40 season lasted just three games. City & Rovers were both in Div 3 S. City P3 W1 D1 L1 F5 A5 Rovers P3 W0 D1 L2 F2 L7. http://www.englishfootballleaguetables.co.uk/final/f1939-40.html
  15. "The Glory Game" by Hunter Davies who spent a year embedded with Spurs in 71-72 As I'm nearly 70 I quite enjoy:- .
  16. At the end of 38-39, Rovers had to reapply for League Membership. For some reason the other clubs voted 'em back in! http://www.nonleaguematters.co.uk/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=3506 North Hartlepools FL 38 re-elected to Division Three (North) Accrington Stanley FL 29 re-elected to Division Three (North) South Liverpool LC 5 Scunthorpe & L Utd ML 4 Burton Town ML 0 Wigan Athletic CL 0 South Bristol Rovers FL 45 re-elected to Division Three (South) Walsall FL 36 re-elected to Division Three (South) Gillingham SL 15 Chelmsford City SL 1 Colchester United SL 1
  17. I read that since Sarina Wiegman became Manager(ess), in her first 16 games the team won 14, scored 97 and conceded just three. Now they've won all three pool games in these Euros. Watch your back Southgate!
  18. There was a documentary on Derby's plight on the Al Jazeera news channel last night. I caught it by accident when changing channels. They reckon that Derby could end up with an advantage over other clubs in a similar financial state when an agreement is reached with the EFL.

Tuesday night Malmo progressed to the next round with a 6-5 aggregate win v Reykjavik. Sherif are out 3-2 on aggregate. Bod/Glimt play tonight, but should be safe having won their first leg 3-0. https://www.uefa.com/livescores/?date=2022-07-12
  21. Tuesday night Hibs exited this year's Champions League by drawing 0-0 with Shamrock Rovers. They lost the first leg 3-0.
  22. The Scottish League Cup has started. Clubs are placed in pools of five and play a league format. 3 pts for a win, and 1 for a draw, but....drawn games then go to pens and the winning side get an extra point; yes, that's 2 for a "winning draw". Ross were away to Buckie Thistle yesterday and came from behind to draw 1-1. Ross won 5-3 on pens. No mention of our man on their site though, not even in squad photos; https://www.rosscountyfootballclub.co.uk/
