  1. The Scottish League Cup has started. Clubs are placed in pools of five and play a league format. 3 pts for a win, and 1 for a draw, but....drawn games then go to pens and the winning side get an extra point; yes, that's 2 for a "winning draw". Ross were away to Buckie Thistle yesterday and came from behind to draw 1-1. Ross won 5-3 on pens. No mention of our man on their site though, not even in squad photos; https://www.rosscountyfootballclub.co.uk/
  2. Those who frequent the Meme are now extremely jealous.
  3. A few years back on gaschat, one them whined "Why can't someone just give us a ground"? ?
  4. The Champions League has started. Amazing Welsh, Irish & Scottish clubs seemingly always get draw against each other. TNS beat Linfield tonight. Looking wider; Bodo/Glimt did the double over Celtic last season, but they have to play in the first qualifying round this season. Other teams who've done well not so long back, but are in this early round are Ferencvaros, Slovan Bratislava and Malmo. https://www.google.com/search?q=UEFA&rlz=1C1CHBD_en-GBGB803GB803&oq=UEFA&aqs=chrome..69i57j46i433i512l2j0i131i433i512j46i433i512l2j0i512j0i131i433j0i512j0i433i512.5610j1j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#sie=lg;/g/11mvmxlddg;2;/m/0c1q0;mt;fp;1;;
  5. Compare & contrast the Mem with the division below.
  6. I'm with Nat West and simply requested a cheque book. Two charities I've worked with have cheque books that require at least two committee members to sign. This helps prevent theft and fraud. As I said; a cheque in the post is tried and tested technology.
  7. I paid on line for a holiday a few years ago, and the money never reached the holiday firm. I now use tried & tested technology. I write a cheque and post it. Works every time.
  8. Deutsche Bundesbahn bought shares in some of Britain's privatised rail companies and use the profits to keep fares low back in Germany. ?
  9. In America, once the NFL fixture list is announced it's "set in stone".The authorities state that the game is part of the entertainment sphere. Fans will have bought tickets and made travel arrangements, so the game must go on. That's why over there, game go ahead despite torrential rain, heavy snow and large injury lists. There was a NFL game a few months back when home fans were asking "Who's he" as due to injuries their club had fielded the 4th or 5th choice player in one position.
  10. Looking at the rail atlas, an anomaly there. Burnley & Blackburn should cost the same. Huddersfield is further away than Blackpool, but costs less. The £2,178 figure could be reduced though if you "split ticket" your journey. Take a chance on weather disruptions and match day amendments due to TV coverage and buy tickets in advance,
  11. Just the thing to introduce to today's snowflake kids.
  12. I was at Redcliffe 1966 - 72. We played rugby as that was "more of a team game". Anyone not waning to play was sent on a cross country run. "Can't play Sir, I've got a cold". "The best thing for that is to run around outside, have a shower and then a rub down with a thick towel"

    Gazza

In an ideal world, at the end of England v Scotland in Euro 96, the ground would have opened up and swallowed Gazza. He would then forever be remembered for all the right reasons. In the dying moments of the semi v Germany, if his leg had been just a few inches longer, he would have connected with that cross and put England in the Final. There sis a clip somewhere on youtube of Gazza playing alongside our Brian Tinnion when they were clubmates.
  14. That was a quote from Coventry's forum, not my words!
  15. https://www.skybluestalk.co.uk/threads/carabao-cup-1st-round-bristol-city-h.143360/ You’d hope Palmer would be up for it at least. Don't mind that draw to be honest. Home game, winnable (if we want it). Sooner play a team that will bring a few fans than against a lower league side where there is no atmosphere.
  16. and so they are; https://www.skybluestalk.co.uk/threads/kasey-palmer.143300/page-3
  17. An enjoyable read. Look at the spectators in the cover photo; no sitting in neat rows and simply applauding politely at the end.
  18. Why? They're coming for us............................................................................ aren't they??
  19. Saturday 3rd September; Hibbs (Johnson) v Kilmarnock (McInnes). 12th November the reverse fixture, 18th Feb the third fixture (at Hiibs)
  20. Today's "Prem stars" would never cope with pitches like that week in, week, out.
