Overall good day for England overall, could be a wash out tomorrow but Saturday looks decent weather, given Windies low score this could easily now be a 4 day game so the rain may not be such a big factor. Stokes, Malan, Bairstow and Ali could easily add a decent amount and build a bit of a lead in the sun on Saturday.

Doesn't look fun out there by any stretch, especially with some of the windies bowlers up around the 90mph mark.

Perhaps the pitch is getting better then, just under 5 sessions left and on a good pitch you'd expect a team to go around 100 runs a session, expect when we're a bit over 400 lead a declaration will come.

Given the table Somerset need to start being brave so I'd agree, maybe at most a quickish 125 to push it to 400 but a declaration can't be far off, before tea for sure. Yorkshire looks like they're heading for a draw so we need to start bettering their results.

Wonder if there will be questions asked about using an old pitch after the low scores involved.

Same strip that was used for finals day so roughly 60 overs already played on it, turning a lot on day 1, potentially promising with Leach and Bess with us batting first.

Had the deal with Edgbaston changed? I thought they got finals day every year (for a few years) as they gave up getting certain international games. Noticed they've got 2 next year as well as finals day.

Not really, crossbows are insanely powerful, they can travel hundred metres plus easy when aimed flat, dread to think how far they could go when aimed at an angle.

Chatting to a few friends and conclusion is crossbow bolt, someone has seriously fu**** up with whatever they were doing here, crossbows fly flat pretty much over long distances due to how powerful they are.

Too short to be used by a normal bow, but at the same time looks a bit longer than a crossbow bolt, weird. Was shot in from outside the ground so has to have been something with a bit of power behind it so would imply compound bow or crossbow.

I'm not disagreeing about the call or anything, I was disagreeing with your point about the test being lost when we didn't hit 300 in the first innings, we got ourselves in a position where we could have drawn or won the game easily.

I wouldn't say so, more often than not you'd back England in the position they started today just the bowling and fielding really wasn't up to standard. Particularly the test wasn't 'lost' in that England could have batted on till they were all out and killed the test taking a 1-0 lead into the final test ensuring we couldn't lose the series.

If talking about England in general why not? Can't say I've seen it said anywhere they wouldn't play county cricket.

Frustrating how you can see a Somerset side go from having Trescothick (in prime), Buttler, Kieswetter, Thomas, Trego (in prime) overseas players including Ponting, Smith, Langer, White, Pollard, Jayasuriya, heck even Whilloughby and Kirby were excellent for us. Yet all we hear from the club is how much money we're making yet we don't seem to see where the money is on the pitch anymore. Get a world class overseas player in for the year, get another quality T20 player in for the campaign. Go get someone like AB de Villiers, Quinton de Kock, Steve Smith, David Warner if you're looking for a batter. Someone like Trent Boult, Cummins, Starc for a bowler, just make a statement with the overseas signing for once.
