  1. Im not sure it's bollocks. Someone like Michael Smith would improve us all over the pitch I think But agree with the general point that the priority currently is to find solidity at other end of field. Youd have to think, given its pretty much nothing to lose as regards our defence, that Cundy will get a chance at some point. Really interested to see if he can step up. No idea - but he's risen to every level he's been pitched in at thus far so curious to see is he can take next step. Big ask given such a long injury. But commanding aerial centre back is what we need so the chance should be there for him to take.
  2. Agree. And worth saying, despite scoreline, there were really obvious positives. I hope that first 30 mins does define us. I really enjoyed it. We were bettered by a striker who has no business being in this division, hence scoring just under half a million goals this season.
  3. He's 22. Hardly Winston Bogarde or Danny Drinkwater. Hes gone through the Arsenal academy - done really well at youth level. Its perfectly reasonable he wants to try his best and make an Arsenal career. Thats probably the dream he has had for the last decade. And he could easily sign a new contract that will make him very rich to probably sit on the bench. But hes decided not to do that. I just don't understand this take on him - aside from him turning us down. He's a very promising English striker who, given a proper run in a team (at prem level), has a real chance. Genuine question - if he was your kid, how would you have advised him differently in last few years? In retrospect coming to us rather than staying at Arsenal? Maybe - but in the moment the ambitious thing to do was 1. Leeds and then 2. Turn us down a second time to get the shot he was obviously told he was going to get at Arsenal. I like him as a player.
  4. Come on now. He's a kid scoring a hat trick in professional football.. Maybe.. just guessing here.. scoring a hat trick in professional football in front of tens of thousands of people made him feel... 'good' about himself??? This. Very much.
  5. So if you don't win, there are no positives??? And if we'd have been totally bossed with Fulham having 85% possession but they had two goals wrongly disallowed and we got one off a Semenyo keeper charge down to steal that game, that would have been all that matters? For me, that's just not where we are currently and the big focus is to see an uptick in performance. Tough for even NP's biggest critic to argue that yesterday wasn't a significant upgrade.
  6. You say rusty but in the short time he was on pitch he got in position to have two really good chances in a game where not real many chances were made. So there is definitely a glass half full view to be had of his performance.
  7. Yeah that was very decent. Jay on the right looked the tidiest he's been for ages. Atkinson back to form too and Pring is really developing fast into an excellent all round player. Interesting to see what we do this window as I'd imagine that will be KP done. And possibly Nakhi. Gradually Pearson is turning it round though. Nice signs.
  8. Few of those games were actually good performances. Really enjoying this though
  9. One thing about Max is he does seem to be able to drop into the team when called on and produce. His City career has been in and out of the team - not always with good reason - and I don't think he's ever let us down. If we need to sell Bents to make some room in squad/wage bill, then I'm fine with Max as No1 for a while to see if he can step up.
  10. This makes little sense. And also, Pearson is working for the club towards a common goal. He’s not some lone maverick trying to fight his evil overlords.
  11. I still think Kalas is part of the problem. I know not many agree with that but our defensive record with him in team since Webster left… I honestly think it would be better for both parties to say goodbye.
  12. If nothing had changed since his appointment, given our form when he took over, we'd be bottom of table. We aren't.
  13. 'Oh hey there tired old chesnut. Nice to see you again. It's been weeks.'
  14. Think this is harsh. JD is off form but has been really good for us. And Kasey has had moments and nearly always runs hard. Let’s not conveniently scapegoat a couple of players suddenly perceived as bad apples for what has been a long term collective underperformance by entire squad.
  15. I feel there is about to be a 2016 referendum style split on OTIB - but rather than leave/remain this will be the ‘it’s time we finally got warnock’s vs the ‘never-colin’s. Could be ugly. Im firmly in the never-Colin camp so pray we don’t go down that road. Anyway, if all true, hope Nige is ok. Seems like a good bloke and looks like he has put some better foundations in place for us to grow. Remain confident he would have turned it round given a few windows.
  16. This. In the strongest possible terms. Excellent manager.
  17. The thread is about when we might find that out. Not when he gets fit and rides to our rescue.
  18. Anyone know the latest with Robbie Cundy? Saw Post said he was in away end for Brum. Is he back in training yet?
  19. So you think if he sold Bristol City now he'd get over 150m quid?
  20. How many Leicesters to how many Burys over last 20 years?
  21. I think this is very harsh. Maybe struggled sometimes out of position at left wing back but generally Towler did pretty well at LB or LCB. Definitely saw Kelly struggle a number of times in championship - both for us and also at start of Bournemouth career.
  22. Maybe transfer this to the loan thread but nice to see Ryley Towler settling in to men's football so well. Bit of positive news. https://forum.thefishy.co.uk/Blah.pl?m-1635061323/
