Imo Weimann is the one man who often is played as a square peg in a round hole.
He's at his best as an out and out striker playing central. He maybe not the best at the club in that position, but that's HIS best position.
He has experience, he's respected, he gives 100%, he runs all day, he gives his all...so he gets put in the team in various positions. He runs his socks off.
Yet for me...often a lot of the issues into the final third involve him. For all the good he does in other parts of the game, gets undone in the final third.
Rushed, uncontrolled, not composed, over hit, under hit, trying to play glory balls often when unbalanced... You name it, he does it.
So for all the good...the one bit we are missing, is final third composure. Which he often doesn't give.
We'd be better off with a more measured player, playing behind the front three.
Excellent post. Sums it up perfectly.
He had a great chance to play in TC last night and his pass was straight to the covering defender (did similar against Watford too), and an even clearer cut chance to play in Sykes but his lob forward had too much weight and went through to their keeper. Both those 2 scenarios,(and the one against Watford) if played right, could easily had lead to goals.

Tanner off for Mehmeti, how Weimann has not been hooked I really don't know.

there it is, only ourselves to blame, so many good position with the final ball wasted. Bell & Weimann in particular poor.

less weight on that ball from Weimann and Sykes was in. Crying out for Scott to replace AW.
-
sod off Weimann, easy pass on to TC and it's wasted again.
-
goal coming for Sheff.Utd if NP does not use his subs.
-
Bell with another overhit cross... dear me.
-
Come on NP, get Scott on and take Weimann off.

Pring booked for foul on McAtee.
McAtee has made a difference, looks a good player.

Yellow card for Pring, a bit harsh

Would you make any changes at HT?
Scott for Weimann (won't happen)

We are the better side so far, just lacking quality for the last ball. Bell, in particular, been wasteful. Weimann having little impact.
King has been our best player.

FFS what a wasted corner by James...

another poor cross from Bell over everyone, so frustrating when we play well to get into the position.

If we could nail that final ball in we could be 2 or 3 up by now.
Yep, just like Saturday v Watford, just lacking composure when it comes to the final ball - good approach play.

Come on Bell, got a bit of space and then crosses wildly over everyone
-
Bell dragged back on the break in the box, but ref gives nothing.
-
Chance for Cornick, but hit straight at the keeper
-
Weimann with an early crossing opportunity and plays it into the side netting...
-
Disappointed that Scott not fit to start. Weimann has been ineffectual the last few games.

I'm in two minds about Kalas even IF he were offered a contract at 50% cut and would accept.
He is very good defender on the ground and getting blocks in, but is pretty weak in the air. A lot of the poor goals we concede are due to the lack of a CB who is really good in the air.
Finding a 'Flint' type is what we need to consolidate defence and offer more threat at our corners & free kicks that are going to be crossed in.

Do we ever win when the games are at the gate?
Not this season, drew with Southampton 1-1, lost to Birmingham 0-1 (and lost to Man City).
Would have thought it would be good for the girls to have a training session at the Gate prior to the Charlton game. I'm guessing the AG pitch may be bigger dimensions than the HTC?

Yep, whilst London and us have both been cheering the other dropping unexpected points, Birmingham have been coming up on the rails. London could well finish third in a two horse race.
Maybe. The worst case scenario would be Birmingham win their 2 games (Durham Home & Away), whilst we don't win against Charlton. Birmingham would then have the chance to nick 1st place by beating us. Fingers crossed Durham do us a favour at least in one of their 2 games against Brum.

Agree with you if we fail to beat Charlton can see Brum beating us in last game to nick it... and we have failed to win any of the previous 3 games at the Gate this season.
Still Durham couid get something out of their home game with Brum as they tend to do much better on their own patch. Then Brum could not catch us.
