Just read on the "stadium" thread over there that at least one of them thinks there will be sufficient demand to charter trains in from the outer reaches, on match days.?

    Oh my Lord! ??

    Why?

Is the existing amount of Rolling Stock on the network not enough to ferry a some Sagheads from Patchway and Filton Abbey Wood every other Saturday? ?

The same idiots that refer to Pearson as a bully...

This hypocrisy had occurred to me.

Pearson asks legitimate questions about the number of penalty decisions that had gone against us over a freakishly long amount of time and they call him a moaner.

Scrappy Doo says/screams something at a referee deemed serious enough to get him banned from the ground and its “passion” because he ‘understands’ and ‘gets’ the Gas ?

Haha - Shart-on gets the book thrown at him again. He really does suit that grimy pustule of a club down to the ground, the scummy Scouse twunt of a Gastard.

Incredibly many of their weirdos are actually proud that their manager has been banned from the ground. ?

    Shows passion apparently…

    They really are ******* idiots.

Fair enough,  I agree they should stay where they are. If you see my previous posts I think Rovers should re build a stand at a time but I understand the temptation of a shiny new ground. Staying in a relatively historical base is important I think, as one or 2 rugby clubs have found recently.

Wouldn’t make much financial sense, whatever they do to the Rugby ground they won’t be able to make money from it every day.

For all their harping on about our supposedly plastic stadium they and their owners know that what Lansdown has done with us is the way forward. We’ve just been able to do it without upping sticks and moving away from our roots.

Whatever they get at the Fruit Market they’ll never have what we have at Ashton Gate, an impressive, modern looking stadium that is also a spiritual home with over a century of history.

I see Snakey has been released by Oxford. I reckon he could still do a job in League One and wouldn`t cost a lot in wages.

Just think, if they hadn`t sung songs about him dying every chance they get he might have thought about it. **** them now though.

Ahh well, apparently his career went downhill after he left Rovers according to the fewers…..

    ??

He may not have played every game for us but let’s be honest he’d never have played any Championship football with them let alone experienced playing in a League Cup quarter final against one of the biggest clubs in the World.

I bet he wished he’d stayed and continued to be a Gas legend” they crow, as if that’s anyones ambition in life or Taylor himself gives a ****!

  6. Spare a thought please for all the thick Slagheads who were going off in their pants back in August about the ‘gap’ closing and the certain promotion they were going to achieve this year

They were at it again around Christmas.

Well done Sharton, great season ?

Finishing below all those teams you and your deluded, arrogant fans consider inferior ?

    Good news.

The Fewers have a new worry in their quest to fret about attendance figures.

    https://gaschat.co.uk/thread/21051/womens-sport

They are fearful that the Vixens might be challenging them for numbers.

Some paranoid little bunnies there ?

They’re already the 3rd best supported sports club in this City and could possibly be 4th IF they have a poor season and their fans forget where the Mem is.

Don’t think it’ll happen, they’ll be saved by bigger clubs away support for a start but imagine how embarrassing it WOULD be if the women actually did average the same or more?

  8. 1 hour ago, WinterstokeRoad said:

Redevelopment kicked in after the end of the 2013 season when the average had been 13.3k with no closures, and first season after full redevelopment was done in 2016 was almost 50% up at 19.3k so there’s a definite jump in those figures posted. The Hull one on the same site says the same:

    http://european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/league/hulc.htm

    as does the Brighton one:

    http://european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/league/bha.htm

    as does the Swansea one:

    http://european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/league/swac.htm

Its kind of you to post those figures but unnecessary as I agreed with you that opening a new stadium (or substantial redevelopment of an existing stadium in our case) would see an increase in crowd numbers, whether that’s us, Brighton, Swansea or even the Blue Few.

My point was that we have maintained high attendances despite 2 relatively poor seasons and season ticket sales are again looking healthy for next year. Once the novelty of a new ground wears off the Gas crowds will soon be back down to their usual sub 10k numbers if they’re not challenging for promotion in whatever division they’re in.

Doesn’t this support that it would see an increase? The City stats show just 7,000-8,000 at AG in the mid-late 90’s, then averages of 11,000-12,000 in 2013-16 and a dramatic increase in average once the ground improvements took place and the team performed consistently in the 2nd tier… same at Hull, Swansea, Brighton, Blackpool, Brentford, etc really too…

We also had average attendances of 16k+ in our first spell this century in the second tier, falling to 14k during the final dross filled seasons before relegation back to L1.

As has already been pointed out, the ground redevelopment significantly reduced our capacity in the seasons you’ve mentioned between 2013-16. In fact in our first season back in the Championship Ashton Gate was the most full stadium % wise of crowds to capacity outside the Premier League, which wasn’t bad as we spent most of the season in the bottom 5.

In a new stadium Rovers would undoubtedly see an increase in crowds. If success doesn’t come on the pitch those crowds will soon drop dramatically. There’s no way they would average 19/20k like we have in the last two seasons of bottom half Championship football.

  10. Do Sheffield Utd really want Neil Warnock to be relegated?

Sheffield Utd have nothing to bust a gut for, would’ve been different if the title was still a possibility or their place in the autos was under threat but it’s not.

Huddersfield are well worth a bet tonight.

    Not quite the same position.

Joey got them promoted, remember? He was VERY CLEAR that HE got them promoted.

The relegation wasn't him though. It was some other boys. Big boys. They've run away now officer. It was nothing to do with me.

Oh yeah, I forgot….that was someone else’s fault.

    Always someone else’s fault ?

  12. I do love it when seasons pan out like this for them.

Back in August they were proper buoyant, “we’re coming for you shitheads”

Same at Christmas “mind the gap shitheads”

Come May and they’re comfortably bottom half League 1 exactly where their cretinous thug of a manager found them 2 years ago struggling against Shrewsbury away. ?

  14. I do like Willem II and their fans, nothing wrong with having friends and their supporters have shown genuine class towards us when we’ve lost well known City fans in the past as well as welcoming us to their home.

I can’t imagine the club ever arranging a friendly with them unfortunately but there you go.

Pretty sure McInness gave Bryan his debut and Reid was even earlier (Millen?)

As someone who sat through every O'Driscoll home game I have to say it was a thoroughly depressing, but thankfully short tenure.

After O'Driscoll made a promising start let's not forget we went down with barely a whimper, no fight whatsoever, no wins in our last 9 games, relegated with 3 to play.

Down in L1 he was sacked after 11 games with City bottom of the table with not 1 win in the first 11 games.

The whole club was in a depression, if he was a well thought of coach there was little sign of it in our play and we were heading almost inevitably to double relegation.

Yes, some good signings were made while he was here but his man management ('I wouldn't have paid 300k for Flint') obviously left a lot to be desired.

Thank God he was sacked when he was because Steve Cotterill was available and installed within the week and the rest is history.

Cotts showed what this club is capable of under a charismatic manager with a positive personality capable of fostering a great squad spirit and getting the fans behind the club.

O'Driscoll was never going to be that man.

Whilst I totally agree with your post he did have two wins in L1…..we had to wait until the end of October for the first one, away to Carlisle, then Crawley on a Tuesday night a couple of weeks later.

    2013 was so dire.

Remarkable- now down to final game of the season...... At home to Reading ( unless they win or draw their game in hand v Sheffield United.

I don’t think Warnock could’ve wished for better opponents at a better time.
