Our most successful season for decades occurred whilst they were in Non League. Before Rovers had even joined the Football League we had finished runners up in the top flight and been FA Cup Finalists...since then? Whilst Rovers were fighting for a L1 play off position a couple of years back we were flirting with Relegation in the Championship in a season that included our worst ever run of defeats. The vast majority of League Bristol Derbies have taken place in the 3rd division. Wheres the evidence that Bristol Rovers exceeding their potential or at least competing in the same division as us has been beneficial for Bristol City Football Club?

Someone suggested on Slagchat that they should have a silent protest at their next home game. I lived near the Mem for years so I know that if they stood there in silence the owners and players wouldn’t notice any difference.

No, it isn’t a Bristol thing. Every club across the country laugh at their rivals when they make fools of themselves....it’s just Rovers give us more to laugh at. That’s why this thread is so long, if they weren’t so arrogant, thinking their support is superior to everyone else we wouldn’t laugh at them anywhere near as much when they get put in their place whilst screaming abuse at their own players, management and owners (something they pretend only happens at City).

Not sure. They definitely made no attempt to get the game played. Previous matches that season they had called people in to help make the pitch playable. Either way, since then I’ve seen posts and heard Gasheads boasting about how they got one over on City and Stockport by calling that game off as if they’d pulled some sort of tactical master stroke worthy of being proud of. The reality is they just didn’t want to face a Stockport team who were on an amazing run of wins at the time. They also knew it meant they’d get a weekend off before the JPT area final whilst we went up to Blackpool.

I don’t know about anyone else but the main reason I find last nights result so funny is because of belters like these... Proud to be cheats.... ? Dreaming of the possibility of playing their cup final against City in the 3rd round.... ? This one below sums up their arrogant fans perfectly. What was their attendance last night? 2700? Maybe more Barnet fans would’ve turned up at the Hive if the opposition were a proper big club not some jumped up clowns with delusions of grandeur?....

Dopey has obviously decided that tonight was bad enough to churn out the old "I take full responsibility" routine for the post match interview. That'll keep the belters happy for a few weeks.

Amongst all the vitriol on Slagchat directed at their players, manager and owner (must be ‘teds’ who’ve signed up on there because Sagheads wouldn’t do that, Surely?) there’s rumours that another one of their players has told the self proclaimed ‘greatest fans on the planet’ to go **** themselves. May not be true but it would be hilarious if it was..

They must hate it when they post some ******* drivel about how much better they think they are compared to us ....then a couple of weeks later their Saghead mates let them down. Boos at FT tonight apparently...

No chance we’d get that for a first round replay against a non league side. On this and the Checkatrade Trophy I cant really take the piss out of Rovers without feeling like a bit of a hypocrite. We’ve had some low attendances in both as well. League games on the other hand, totally different kettle of fish. They used to claim their ground would be full every match if they got back to L1, that was a load of shit....surprise surprise.

Seems to be suggesting that City fans are attending Rovers matches and actively trying to get banned just so that Rovers could appear higher than City in a list of clubs with banned fans. Thats next level dumb. No wonder this thread is so long...

I could be wrong but I think he’s being sarcastic ie if our advanced cameras can’t pick up the widespread disorder that Gasheads THINK happens at every match it could explain how his accusations weren’t backed up by CCTV. Strange use of “you’d think” and “enough said” if he wasn’t being sarcastic Its all rubbish of course, they aren’t any better than us and Rovers don’t do any more to stamp out trouble than City do. Just to clarify the rules of Pointless, to get a pointless answer you have to say something that is a fact but also an answer that no one in the 100 people surveyed said. In which case the question was probably “name a football club from Bristol?”

The Ipswich match is on the 28th so there’s 2 weeks to go. Not that I expect us to sell much more given our current form, the fact it’s available on Sky and the 7/8 hour round trip midweek. I don’t think with their current away average of 581 the Gas are in a position to laugh at anyone tbh.

They don’t usually look happy to sign for them, that Payne bloke looked suicidal in his photo. New players always big up the supporters of the club they’re joining, they’re hardly going to slag them off are they?...they want to get into their good books straight away. Most football fans realise this except for the gullible Gas. Taylors goalscoring record isn’t great here but it’s a big step up from what he was used to, besides there’s so much more to his game than scoring goals and I think it’s fair to say that he’s well liked at AG...not for making the Gas look like muppets but for his contribution and effort. Couple of interesting posts from the Barnet fans forum. One where a fan remembers their coach getting bricked and being spat at by one of the dirty bastards at the Mem and another stating that 80 Salford fans made more noise than the 500 Sags who stood in silence for most of the match today. Paints a different picture to the self righteous bullshit Gasheads spout about themselves doesn’t it?

Bit early to say that. I’d still expect them to win today or at least get a draw against a team 2 divisions below them, even with 10 men.
