  1. West ham bod here.

Just want to say we got lucky today.

Really impressed with your side, some tidy players.

Hope there was no agg in the home ends. If there was, then they asked for it frankly.

All the best in your promotion bid, going on today, you should stroll it. I'll be keeping an eye on it. Genuinely hope you do it.

Thanks for your kind words, and good luck in the 5th round.

  2. Just wanted to bump this match day thread back to page one again... Great win deserves it. :)

...also following on to posts earlier on in thread re 'haitch' instead of 'h' etc... Another one that bugs me big time (BTW I absolutely agree I'm far from perfect myself) but every time someone uses 'effects' when they mean 'affects' I dunno why but it makes me cringe. (Someone did just that on another thread today) I didn't want to mention it there so thought I'd vent it here...

ARRRRGGHHHHHH!!! - soz for that special 'effect' I hope it didn't 'affect' anyone too much :)

To be fair, it could be a tricky one to remember unless you are possessed of impeccable dress sense and musical sensibility.

    Sound does indeed affect.

  3. Of course the greater outcome was positive but you cannot praise somebody who shed the blood of innocents in the process, without being called up on it.

Fair enough, if all we're doing is reminding ourselves that violence was used in resisting the opressors, then I don't have a problem with that.

  4. Ok you win, he DIDN'T co-found that group and they DIDN'T commit terrorist acts (sorry, didn't fight for freedom).

    Congratulations, you just changed history!

Wow, disappointing that people are bringing this stuff up in a discussion honouring the man's death.

Of course Mandela co-founded the ANC's military wing, and its fight against the evil regime sometimes resorted to violence. You see this as a bad thing? As someone else alluded to, for Mandela to renounce the violence of the ANC would be akin to the French Resistance rolling over for Hitler. It is no different. In both cases sadly, blood was shed, but good triumphed over bad.

And Jerry Dammers got to write one of his catchiest tunes!

    RIP

  5. I'm so under whelmed by the new AG design it's beyond belief. I appreciate the corners have to be used bit it is so bowl like it's unbelievable. I know there are space constraints but how unspecial is the EE. It may be the first end to be built with safe standing in the country, but once safe standing is the norm it will just be another stand. Very disappointed by the plans. Crisp bowl here we come

From the images released so far and displayed at the public consultation, the proposal is to have four completely different stands.

The popular objection to bowl-like stadia is that they are uniform all the way round and therefore have no character. Regardless of whether some or all of the corners are joined up, a stadium with four distinctly different sides definitely does not constitute a bowl. I think it looks like it will have character, in the same way that the redeveloped Hawthorns or Bramall Lane do, for example.

Not saying it's necessarily better than the AV model mind, but it will have its own look and personality, definitely not your 'crisp bowl'.

  6. It was an interview earlier this year with sl or one of the board I think. I think you've misunderstood my point, what i mean is the club are keen to start as soon as possible, even in this season, but they wouldn't have done had we been up the top of the league needing a full capacity (for the big games of course). Now that is looking unlikely the work will most probably start at the beginning of the new year, as the post reports.

Ah, I hear ya. Makes sense, except for the logistics of demolishing the EE part way through the season. Is that really workable?

  7. Must be ALAN DICKS, the city side were never expected to stay up. then a win at arsenal first game of the season. THOSE WERE THE DAYS.     :o  :o  :o

Well they weren't the most attractive footballing side in the world...but they certainly were the most successful BCFC side ever in living memory. So yes it has to be Dicks Up! :D
