    What he actually said was....

"it's more likely to be covid, but there's a chance it could be from the vaccine"

    "I don't know, I'm not a doctor"

"I'd be ill advised to quote on the cause"

What a piece of shit publication the Daily mail is...!

He should be more responsible making comments like that.

The Fail is an utter bog roll publication but for somebody as media savvy as LJ that’s a very naive thing to say in an interview

I thought Holden tried to played him more as a number 8 in a 3. He is also coming from areas that he was not during Holdens start last season.

Appreciate your view, but his position, and our shape and fluidity are miles away from the early Holden days.

Well whatever the nuances of the formations it suited Weimann at the time, as it does now.

Another example of an experienced coach knowing how best to utilise a player, after our last two coaches not having a clue or offering Weimann consistent direction for a sustained period of time.

The combination through our vanity driven transfer policy, of signing players who looked exciting but did not fit our style of play or system, and then messing about week after week blindly hoping for it to all click with no real vision is what has cost us in the last 4 years.

Its what happens when you buy greyhounds and put them in horserace, then act with bemusement and shift accountability onto the squad - which ultimately leads to a disconnect between players and fans.

Makes you think what could have happened had we had someone with genuine football knowledge solely responsible for splashing our cash all over the place when we were primed to push on.

Holden started last season with Weimann playing as the attacking midfielder in a 3 (almost exactly as he is now), behind Martin and Wells. We won the first 4 then he got injured, out for the season. And it’s taken Nige a while to work out this position really suits AW (although TBF he was playing well up front as well).

Apparently I've been harsh on O'Dowda and have an agenda. If being sick of his act is having an agenda then I'll wear that, I'm sick of watching the bloke.

The fact he was supposedly no worse or no better than others around him yesterday (I don't agree, but let's go along with it) should be a damning indictment for a player who has been with us for over 5 years and is the senior, experienced pro alongside Scott, Massengo, Pring, DaSilva, Semenyo, yet consistently doesn't know what to do, plays with half as much drive, and produces little end product.

His only attribute is athleticism, running around screening his opponent and occasionally getting on the ball to run head down. But (and this is why I don't accept he is "no worse" than anyone else) he doesn't really take on his man and he doesn't break the lines with any conviction (see: Pring, twice, even 95th minute) and his crosses are aimless (relative to DaSilva curled back post, twice, Pring too).

Perhaps others can be more level headed watching on Robins TV but travelling around watching him consistently add so little and make mistakes (surrender when fed on our first break after Luton's second - sizing up a pass or run with no player within six yards of him, only to underhit it straight to them) is exhausting. And judging by his walk past our end it's more tiring watching him than being him.

No agenda from me, just a different opinion. Appreciate the report though.

  5. I think both Bents ability on the ball and Max’s shot stopping are both underrated, to play Devil’s advocate. However, happy with Max at the mo especially given the last time Bents was dropped he came back strongly when selected, if I remember rightly?

  6. There’s definitely an improvement in how dangerous we look at home now, since we got the monkey off the back. That to my mind is also down to Semenyo playing up front - he still lacks composure but he pulls defenders out of place with his pace. Martin has attributes but he is easier to defend against I think.

As for Pearson I think he’s probably realistically doing as well as he can, given the squad he has and our financial situation. I certainly think progress has been made since last season, especially given the younger players developing with more game time. He still doesn’t know his first choice side (or formation) but he’s becoming clearer on who he doesn’t want, which is arguably half the battle. I suspect we’ll finish where most thought we would, bottom third (but safe), and that’s ok for now.

I do wonder if he was making a point with regards higher ups re reliance on the academy, as well as to us as fans.

    Either way. Onwards and upwards.

Somebody else suggested this in an earlier thread. If he was prepared to gamble on losing to make some sort of petulant point that would be pathetic.

However, it would be completely against type, as whatever you might think about him he’s brutally honest in terms of his decision making. So if he thought the selected team was the best team for today then that’s what he thought. Whether it was a good choice is open to question, but that’s a different point.

I think he's made it pretty clear in the past that he puts alot of his troubles down to the way he was managed & looked after (or not) during his time here.

Young lad, away from home, on good money, left in a hotel room with no guidance - as I recall, from a previous interview of his..?

Yes I heard that. My ‘suggestion’ was firmly tongue in cheek. Good to see he’s got his career and more importantly his life back on track.

  9. Always makes me laugh when another player well out of our league doesn’t sign a new contract/ is out of favour /  Mark Ashton talks him up and suddenly some naive soul on here suggests that player as a transfer target however unrealistic it might be.

Anyway, wass reckon? Ex player maybe not on super wages / may want to return home to a club where he played well?

    ???
