  1. CAN'T YOU READ Dolly.. you are.
  2. who put Bassett in there? !!!! there, becomes Keane.
  3. One or two odd balls in there but most are names we all know and are, by and large, on the radar.
  4. Amongst those who are arguably the top four managers in the world presently in a job - namely, Jose Mourinho, Sir Alex Ferguson, Guus Hiddink and Josep Guardiola - only the latter excelled as a player prior to management! Assimilating a collective, preparing a blend and nurturing a vision is something far removed from just playing. The ability to man-manage, empathise, understand human nature (including greed and limitations) is just the start. They must carry authority and assuredness, deal with directors, fans and the media with equal aplomb but most of all need to be able to resolve, teach and coach. It is the biggest job description of any sport and none of these attributes are necessary for a football player. Does Millen have any of these skills? Perhaps one or two but in my opinion nowhere near all of them. Maybe you do not need all of them but you probably need a fair sprinkling of these attributes to be successful. Some of them can be learnt and some are within your own DNA.
  5. OK, fair point, so he was simply a little off colour today.
  6. Well, that may very well be the case but they will not be generating one dime outta me this time.
  7. At the last minute i decided to jump on a plane.. i knew it, i just knew i would regret it. Well, apart from of course visiting family i ended up with a loss, which i half expected, and a parking ticket alongside dozens of other cars by County Gate,. I shall be writing to the council because there are no yellow lines and no clear way zone sign within 100 yards of where i was parked so they can stuff the ticket up their backsides. As for the match.. agree with other threaders; why on earth take off JCR?... far more lively and effective than Adomah today who clearly is not fit enough to play 2 matches in 4 days. But of course who is these days, the poor poor lads that they are. He was more than OK at times but faded and should have gone off not JCR. Also, why on earth were we at 451 at home and then chose to attack when we went 1 down?.... excuse me but that is just plain ignorant. Sorry Millie but you got that way off the mark today. I thought City played alright and matched Brighton throughout the match with no discernible difference in quality. I cannot see them being top all season but then again it is an even league. Today was an acid test in my opinion; to see if the 0-3 thrashing by Ipswich was only a blip. Had we won we would be on the front foot and been able to put an indifferent start down to slow beginnings. After all, of late we had gone 3 without loss in the league. In losing we have a much clearer picture of where we shall probably end up this season. Even though the game was decided on one goal and near the end is hardly the point. We lost, that is all the table will show and cares about and is all people will talk about. This is now beginning to look like yet another season full of putting out fires by Millen and Co and trying to get back on the front foot instead of what it should have been, one full of espoused optimism of a promotion push by the management; they are in absolute cloud cookoo land. This is not about the players; we clearly matched Brighton across the park for most of the game. This is about a level of belief and a level of motivation and a level of confidence; we simply do NOT have it and for that , square in the face, Steve Lansdown should now be telling himself Millen does not have it; Those attributes, to be instilled into a team full of ability, are the difference between winning and losing. Poyet has it, Millen doesn't. What is there NOT to understand? It is plain as the brightness of an Ashton Gate afternoon on a very sunny September day.
  8. This season lowest walk up prices were £20 and next season the flat rate is a whopping £35. Swans are no better than QPR for fleecing the fans are they? Or does it not matter bearing in mind all but 2000 seats will be left available for walk up home fans?
  9. Yeah.. so have a go at me SC Red and leave Robbored out of it! I'll answer the question anyway.. it has everything to do with BCFC; we have not been more than 1 div apart since 1911 so for the superstitious, particularly, and in worse case scenario you wish the gas to get relegated at your peril. As far as i am concerned this is the right decision for the Gas and i think they will escape relegation.. not that i am superstitious or anything.
  10. Apparently he's pleading for diminished responsibility in the boardroom this morning. I recall the Oldham fans saying this was about the worst managerial appointment Rovers could have made; seems, thus far, they are right and that he could be sacked today. I bet they wish they had stayed with Trollope now. Frankly, I think sacking Penny is probably the right decision; they surely cannot be worse than they are now if you, me or Doris was in charge. is this good, bad or could you not give a rats backside?
  11. I was just trying to tune in to listen to some of the interviewees regarding the Academy Golf Day; I got through the Twenty-something one and then got to Keith.. i just heard something about 'all the gear and no idea' but not the question before it.. was he talking about his football job or golf? Sorry, my Cuban connection is bad today.
  12. http://bristolcityonline.co.uk/index/have-city-won-the-race-for-danny-welbeck.html? If true it points to at least Ferguson relenting on his purported refusal for Welbeck to drop a division.
  13. Some interesting reading about the guy.... http://www.whydelilah.co.uk/news/07_Aug_2008/Talking%20To%20The%20Thinking%20Man.html http://www.whydelilah.co.uk/news/02_May_2010/Kitson+slams+Stoke+boss+Pulis.html http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/stoke/article7112203.ece My friend is a die hard Stokie and says that while he has not been a success at Stoke, due in some part to his bust up with Pulis, he would do a very decent job for us. Hope the wages can be sorted and he is motivated to join us as i think he would be a good signing for Steve and of course they know each other well; he would get the best out of him i am sure of that.
  14. JD74, you and me should go and see Palarse play the Gas next season then!!!! or maybe, on second thoughts, the Dale and we can stand in the away end and roar the new boys on.
  15. Ryan, Don't shoot me down on this one but i would actually prefer Rovers to win that one. I am not a gas hater; i actually do not 'hate' anyone or thing.. not really me. I have always advocated that strong teams throughout the south west is good for everyone including us of course. I see somebody changed their vote from Palace to Wed, interesting! arghhh Tim K twas you. Are you in Battersea?
  16. Crystal Palace 1 Rochdale 3 - hmmm.. a mouth watering prospect!!
  17. Clearly there are multiple reasons for many fans disliking Crystal Palarse. While i suspect this poll might be somewhat conclusive in its result I am dismayed a fair number of forum members actually like the idea of Palace going out of business. In the true spirit of football, not particularly evident around this forum on this subject, i still believe the vast majority of fans across the country would be very sad to see ANY club go out of business. Even considering mis-management and, some say, not obiding by league rules i would never wish extinction on any club. Let us be reasonable and allow any punishment to fit any crime. You begin to erode the uniqueness of our football pyramid if you start losing, for good, some of the oldest 'brand' names in the world let alone football. Do i want Palace to go down?.. yes i probably do but i hope they regain their health as fast as they possibly can. Most Palace fans are decent folk like we are and the club supports a fair few jobs directly or indirectly.
  18. OK Spud, appreciated, but no aye problemo hombre.
  19. No, i got way too much attention from her!! Well, this poll is pretty conclusive. I wonder if BCFC have paid it much notice.
  20. None taken but this forum is all about airing views and most people i am seeing on here prefer a manager. We pay a large part, perhaps the largest part, of the clubs weekly revenue take and so we do have influence and we do have a voice. this is one of those voices and it should be heard. So, its not ridiculous to ask that question and it brings results. Don't underestimate the influence this forum has. Oh, and i am not seeking attention, i get plenty of that from my young lady!
  21. Looks like most of us would prefer a 'get your hands' dirty Manager role for the new boss and not a Director of Football. I am certainly in that camp.
  22. My post is NOT how i set it out. sorry if it is not an easy read; forum guys you gotta problem.
  23. A few choice words from Palace fans seconds after Big Chris scored for us last night and then following. Always good, imo, to get a perspective from the opposition. Football certainly is all about passion as these comments prove once more:-cheering them on...come on lads!up a couple of spots if we can nick it ere'imminent doom?.....not sounding too good at the mo... moments later....fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!!!! argh! i hate bristol city!!!!jesus h ruddy christ!!!!!Shocking defending, 3 defenders going for the same ball! FFS w***!Iwelumo ****ING Welsh c***!!! (umn, try Scottish?)S***ting s**t it!Why the hell are they still all over us when we're a goal down facing relegation. FFS get a grip..........we're at home to bristol s***ty not away to arsenal (now now)Look on the bright side, at least we won't be playing these b**tards until next season, provided we stay up!Back to Hope....Danns ON Ambrose OFF He'll save the day! i hope.....Stern John ON Nick Carle OFF I would love to see him score past his former club..... (hahaaaaaaaaaaaa)Which lasted all of 5 minutes...This is just ****ing Depressing **** this!Words cannot describe how much i despise Brizzle City, they have well and truly become our newest rivals. And.... I HATE THEM! (HAHAHAAAA)I am totally pi$ed off with this game and bloody Shoebridge we're well and truly in the brown stuff...In 28 years of supporting Palace through thick and thin.....this is by far the worst football i've ever seen us play. It's not the squad either because we do have some good players. Where has it all gone wrong? I blame warnock for forcing the hoofball on the team. And back to looking forward...Ah well, it's no use dwelling on tonight. Those cider-drinking buck-toothed tossers are the least of our concerns. Let's look forward to Saturday away at Barnsley. It will be tough, but let's hope we bounce back!Nicky Carle was the best player on the pitch last night, remind me Mr 1% who signed him?I would just like to say again...Gary Johnson you are the shortest, fatest **** I have ever had the bad fortune to lay my eyes on (shame it couldn't be my fists) . - (There is something wrong in the head of some palarse fans, there really is)
