  1. The simple fact that we haven't been in the Prem, and so don't have the parachute payments other clubs have, is what's meant by not having financial clout.

The Albion fans seem quite keen on GJ taking over. Interesting.

Well, whoever comes in is going to need a lot of cash to get 'em off the bottom of the table. :tumbleweed:

  2. GJ was 25/1 earlier - looks like his odds have gone down

By the way, the WBA chairman said in an interview a while back that he was a big fan of Gary Johnson. erp!

I suspect most chairman would talk favourably of our manager. Comes with being good at what you do.

I agree with Phatwill and Woodsy's remarks.

  3. The issue would be whether the wage structure at city is right for the player and whether the player would want to move to the west...I suggest that (yet again) the answer would be no.

Admittedly one would expect he is looking to up his wages for the new season but the fact the swans have tabled a bid suggests they can afford his pay packet; would we not be able to compete with the swans?

  4. Gorrrrnnnnnnn Mr. Lansdown....

The Swans look set to bow out of the bidding for 3m rated Gomez from espanyol.... could he be a very worthwhile investment to give our midfield the dynamo and creativity we need and to enhance the undoubted capabilities of Lee Johnson?

  5. Got to agree, our obsession, with signing strikers at the expense of the squad as a whole is getting to Newcastle proportions.

or perhaps wolves like last season. seems to be paying off this time around. anyway, 500k for 17 goals looks like a bargain in todays market so could be a decent piece of business. he's only 20 so may prefer to stay down south as well; barnsley could be an unforgiving place in the depths of winter!

  6. Barnsley for sure could do with someone else!

Well Nibor, my thoughts as well but if LT and SB are heading out the door perhaps GJ is looking for direct replacements for both.

You can never really have enough fire power is my view.

  7. My Great Uncles bit on the side in Venezuela called my cousin yesterday in Hewish to say her brother has a friend who lives next door to one of the tea ladies down at the Drum and Monkey in Kenn.

Anyway.. back on topic.. this thread is designed to counter balance the utter tripe... which it could well be until we know otherwise... of our king of goalies is wanting away.

In short.. I am starting this thread because I have aledgedly heard the complete opposite and that he wants to pledge his support to City at least until we get to the prem. Lets have some positive vibes and chat on this thread and simply keep it up there next to that other TRIPEFUL thread.. well.. i can say that until we know otherwise.

come on lets be avin youoooooooo. :englandsmile4wf:

  8. In view of the literally thousands of close season threads and posts on the ins and outs of transfers and targets I thought a quick poll of how we view our manager and his conduct in this regard might be interesting.

It appears to me that the majority of us believe we should put our faith in the management team. There are some who feel otherwise. This poll should give us an indication of the supporters and the whingers.

  9. Just wish City had signed Lawrence from Mansfield about 5 years ago when several of us on here were suggesting it. :disapointed2se:

By the way, reckon Lee Croft would be a good signing Gary. :innocent06:

Glad you did not suggest signing him now.. heresey.

  10. At diving I mean?... how good a dive was that?

Please give your ratings on a scale of 1 to 10

And how would you rate the linesman who 'fell' for it hook, line and real stinker.

The boys a genius really. a 30 million pound dive.

Oh and finally, should he stay away from Bristol ?

  11. Have seen him play twice. The first time last summer in the qualification rounds for the UEFA-Cup (AIK Solna v Liepaja Metalurgs) and also in a European Championship qualification round in November (Sweden v Latvia). A tall forward who looks like a rockstar with long curly hair. A good header of the ball, good technique but no pace or guts. Don't make much of a impression. Simply nothing for City.

Boggles the mind what McCarthy sees in him then. Perhaps the hair will distract the opposition defenders. :noexpression:

  12. McCarthy has taken Girts Karlsons on a trial from Metalurgs. Albeit for a measely two days.

Any folks know much about this kiddo?

Snatched from under the noses of our gaffer?

I would imagine his cv has in fact passed the noses of the Johnsons and, quite simply, he's just not good enough for us nowadays!

    Funny old game football. :D

  13. Well, as expected, it has certainly opened a debate.

Cheers for all the remarks; I would say strongly positive overall.

If word gets back to any of the City players and staff I think it can only be a good thing; that we are well behind LT but want to see him up his game a little.

  14. It seems mention of LT has been a little subdued of late.

I was wandering how well he has been performing in the last 3 matches; how many assists, how much of a contribution for example.

Would appreciate comments from those in the know.
