  1. From QPR TV. They do have a point mind…
  2. I think we’re roughly where we deserve to be. It’s notable (but also a sign of resilience) that two of the four wins have come through injury time winners - no doubt Millwall and Rotherham will feel we got more points than we should there. I’ve watched all games bar Millwall and my feelings on what was merited from each game are: Preston - Draw, possible loss Hull - Draw Birmingham - Loss Swansea - Win WBA - Draw Plymouth - Win Leicester - Loss Stoke - Win Rotherham - Draw That says to me we’ve broadly got what was merited each game, drawing and winning games against PNE and Rotherham we probably could have lost and drawn respectively and losing a game we should have won against Stoke. Bizarrely, had the points come as merited we’d have exactly the same number now. With Conway and Weimann now fit, Vyner, McCrorie and Atkinson to come there are lots of reasons to be optimistic from a solid base.
  3. I wish this commentator would stop laughing every time their 27 touches the ball.
  4. Things like this almost make me sorry for them. Genuinely. Imagine this -this - is the high point of your existence. Playing in a laughing stock stadium with a hated management team and players you keep as nobody else wants and this is as good as it gets??? **** me ragged.
  5. Sensible World of Soccer on Amiga was, is, and will forever be, the GOAT. Used to play CM on the Amiga then Pc before life (and football manager being a full time job) got in the way. I believe there is a CM01/02 that gets updated each season but I don’t even have enough time to play that!
  6. I’m way too old for this kind of thing, but my son got very excited when he saw this news… Edit: He’s assuming you can use Ashton Gate in the whole game. And if you want Rovers ground as your backdrop, apparently you just need to fire up the ZX Spectrum and it’s true to life
  7. “These things take time” you might say!
  8. It’s a long time ago when we were punching it out with them at the top of league one and they had Keogh/Sharp up top. However, what’s coming out of Scunnie currently is wild. We’ll all be aware of their charitable status of playing the youth team against Rovers in their last league game - they then went straight through the national league and are in NLN. Multiple signings made, generally players too good for that level. But then, things started to take a turn. A chap called David Hilton took charge earlier this year. The Athletic, earlier this month, published an investigation into Hilton and uncovered he had served time for fraud. Hilton then issued via the club a long and fairly ranty statement. So far, so dodgy owner. Earlier this week, Scunthorpe began banning fans who had criticised the club/Hilton on social media. This didn’t go down well and Hilton’s response when it was pointed out was..interesting… Scunnie deleted their Social media shortly after. Anyway, today it’s back. And Scunnie have released a statement saying they’re departing Glanford Park and playing games at Gainsborough Trinity. One problem with this though… SL grinds my gears sometimes, but things could definitely be worse….!
  9. Yes. The only relevant rules are: - The ball must move forward - The other player must start outside the box Totally legal - poorly executed
  10. I’ve been critical of Max, but never his shot stopping so this stat is no surprise and in some way just confirms what we already knew was his strong suit. As I’ve said on many occasions, the point that makes (me and others) have doubts is distribution and decisions. This has been a lot better in the last three games - there have been less “floaty” kicks and distribution has either been relatively accurate long passes or solid clearances (The one occasion in the first half against Plymouth aside!) and he was MoM for me Saturday for his holistic performance. If he can keep up the broad form and distribution shown since the break I’ll be happy. I’m not going to hang him on one poor clearance in three games - that’s a heck of an improvement ratio on where he was where it was 1/2 poor decisions that led to chances and several poor clearances a game. I think Naismith back there really helps as he’s prepared to get the ball in tight situations and work it out - just proves how one players game can really positively impact another’s.
  11. I agree, and I think he’s been delivering in spades. My point is that he’s delivered a pathway that is beyond expectations. As a result, the owner has now seen exceptional as normal - hence “expecting” a sale akin to Semenyo or Scott every year with equal quality coming through to replace. Put simply, if Nige (and Tinns) hadn’t brought through the players they have I’d bet Lansdowns hand would be in his pocket willingly at this stage. Had it just been Scott, he’d have seen it as a one off. He now seems to expect a new £10m academy player every year from his comments.
  12. Heeeeeerrrreees Joey….again not mentioning the proven and admitted guilt on one charge… (Tbf if one man in Bristol knows how the legal system works through experience it’s him…)
  13. He’d better bring the ****ing championship ready sprinklers with him.
  14. I 100% agree, and this is where I think SL has shown a real blind spot (yes, back to the “nest egg” comment). The pathway to the first team of younger academy players - and improvement in players like Zak - under Nige is insane. When you see so many coming through, there is a tendency to think “well this is the norm” - so in Steve’s eyes, Semenyo for £10m, Scott for £25m - well we then have Conway who can go for £x, Bell who can go for £y and Yeboah who can go for £z. And that leads to his “we can sell one a year” comment - he’s now become used to players coming from £0 and potentially being sold for millions, both in the actual and potential sales. If anything, and this is an angle I’ve not considered before, has Nige done too well and our owner now considers an exception normal because of how well NP has brought players through?
  15. My guess would be not looking at his career history, the fact he was hooked at half time and Niges prior statements about when he expects players to be in or around the first team. I’d be surprised if this was a goer.
  16. According to the evening post, was very tall, got caught offside and was hooked at half time. Welcome Bas Savage.
  17. Tbf I don’t have a massive problem with it - if you want to spend £30 on a ticket and have a six hour round trip to make wide arm gestures at a stranger and not watch football, go nuts. Just don’t do it to the detriment of others.
  18. Nope. Soon as the penalty was given, a few of ours took it as reason to run towards the Leicester fans - no intent of getting to them as our “top boys” stopped before the barrier. They then spent 20 minutes looking at opposition fans instead of watching the game. @shahanshahan was near me and had to move when they decided our fans didn’t matter. Vardy had nowt to do with it. Our “Fans” being ***** did.
  19. Stones too big for me. Last tour I saw them at London Stadium. I think steers on ours have to be those playing arenas now - so maybe Duran Duran, Busted? Kylies my banker though
  20. Because things can get lost in the normal match thread and it’s useful to reflect. Few things: Max - I have been critical but excellent today. No chance with the goal. One poor kick but overall distribution far better - my MoM and his best game of the season for me Tanner - Excellent defensively, got dragged once or twice but really solid overall - again, best game of the season CBs - we missed Zak in pace and bringing the ball out but I think we did well. No easy shots, good blocks - it was a penalty but I don’t think that distracts from KN overall TGH - An odd pick out maybe but I really like this kid. He always had time, played with head up and generally picked the right ball. He, more than any other sub, drove us forward and I think he’ll be a big player moving forward Overall, very good and the containing nearly worked. My only negative was our fans who, when the penalty was given, decided to rush towards the barrier between us and the Leicester fans, knocking kids out of the way. And then spent 20 minutes staring at Leicester fans and not the game. Well done lads.
  21. Having given it some thought, with the talk of up to five gigs, and coupled with the size of act (not big enough for Wembley, but can do stadia), together with current output (ie do they have an album out), if Kylie Minogue is not announced I’ll give you the money myself.
