  1. Pretty sure nugent was championship level, possibly at preston, when he played and scored for england.
  2. I don't think city and rovers were in the same league in the 98/99 season... but looks a lot like wigan.
  3. First time there for me too. Did the 3-1 murray game and the first couple of bubbles but not been back since.
  4. Southampton well a truly pumped there. An extremely dubious red at the end for them as well.
  5. In both instances the Argentinians hit Englands heads, so clearly if he's in control its intentional. Only one looked intentional to me, and it wasn't the red.
  6. It's a crapshoot. It's where the football world cup was around 3 iterations ago when any foul was a yellow and games ended up 9 a side.
  7. How about Vyner, as I saw it, his hand/arm were supporting his body and the ball struck it. Unless the rules have changed, I didn't think that was a penalty. As an aside as well, it seems nuts that the rules can be such that if the ball hits your hand and then you score its a foul, but if you then play a square pass to someone to knock into an open goal its not a foul. Surely its a foul or not a foul and what you go on to do next should have no determination on it.
  8. It was a disgrace not to give it in real time. It is an absolute travesty not to award it on var.

  10. There was the softest of touches but it was of no consequence. In slow motion you see the touch on the spanish player which I think is all the ref saw to make his decision from. In real time the spain player had a bad touch, felt the slightest of touches on him and you can see a second definitive motion where he starts to dive. The bar is so incredibly low if that is a penalty. The good thing was that it created a bit of drama and made the win so much sweeter, as good as a last minute winner.
  11. Justice there. Disgrace of a decision.
  12. The bookmakers got 11 out of 12 of the top half correct, and the one they didn't were placed 13th. When I look at that its only Norwich which they were really way off on predicting top and finishing 12th. I'd say it's a stretch to say that the bookies prediction was poor or not clever for last season.

    Playoffs

His trailing leg caught the guy in a completely non dangerous fashion. The leading leg was never going to catch him. Ref was poorly placed and can see why he has given it, but just get rid of var when that type of decision stands.

    Playoffs

Pretty shocking decision. Never a red.
  15. Unless I'm missing what the stat is, isn't 1/529 the liklihood of both games of the season being played on at the same time, i.e. the clashes happening twice in a season, or I think 1/529 is also the liklihood if you are looking for it to happen on a specific matchday. Where as the chance of one game coinciding at the same time at any point during the season is actually a whole lot more likely i.e. 1/11.5 of it happening at all as it did on Tuesday.
  16. I would say that the chances of it happening at least once this season were a lot shorter than that. We have 2 opportunities to play shuff u at 100% likelihood, on each of those opportunities there would be a 1/23 chance of rovers and wednesday also playing so 1/23 + 1/23 so I make it a 2/23 or 1/11.5 probability. This ignores international weekends and weekends when the fixtures don't allign. It's probably more a case that rovers are rarely at a similar level so it doesn't occur. On a different topic, I heard that joey had some afters in the tunnel after the game with the officials and was shown a red card so should face a touchline ban. Not entirely sure on how accurate as it was relayed 2nd hand to me.
  17. We couldn't get out of our own half for the first 15-20 minutes, but from then on we dominated and were unlucky to be behind, aside from the goals we had probably the next best 3 or 4 chances as well as generally being in control of the game after the first 20. The squad is threadbare though. Wilson was the only option left with any experience on the bench. No need to rush Naismith back if he's not ready so will have to see what the two tc's injuries are like as it will be a very inexperienced bench on sunday you would think.
  18. All the games are mixed up on sky red button. City are on sheffield united option currently for me.
  19. Lies damned lies amd statistics... we were 8 points off having played a game more, but Millwall and Luton play each other tomorrow so there's a strong chance we'll be 9 points off having played a game less come tuesday evening (+ through to the f.a. cup quarter finals to boot). We have edged closer but are left in a situation where we probably will need just over 2 points per game. Every draw or loss is a hammer blow to our chances but there is still a slim chance we can make it.
  20. Their next 8 games apart from away to oxford and away to forest green they are pretty much playing the top 8. Looks a tough run when in no form.
  21. Not really to that level no, and the comment was really meant to highlight that piece of goalkeeping in isolation that was Sunday league standard rather than England number 1 standard. But he has made errors for England, not to that level and not consistantly, but he has made some. Its not really a dig at Pickford but the first France goal was poor goalkeeping and really should have been saved, can't remember anything else from the world Cup so wouldn't hang him out for it. Probably decent for England rather than world class in my view. On the subject of the Liverpool and Everton game, Everton looked toothless up front and only vulnerable when they'd committed men forwards, with klopps comments after the game that it was the Liverpool of old but the deciding factor in that game was the 18 seconds of the op where until it hit the post it looked like Everton were going in front, and then probably going to spend the game defending for their lives. Very fine margins between that and another sub par Liverpool performance. Everton though in two games under Dyche and only set pieces do they look dangerous, if they are going to stay up I think it's going to be because of some nil nils and one nils because its going to be difficult to score 2 or 3 goals each game from a corner.
  22. He looked like a glitch on a 90's version of Fifa running out of the way. Englands number 1.
