It was £5m in January, I’m not convinced there’s as much wiggle-room as people hope.

The big question is, how much do you have to pay if you want a good attacking midfielder and you want promotion? I haven’t a clue what the figure is, but if City are serious it can’t just be signings from Leagues 1&2

  2. When City signed Evander Sno I thought it was an amazing coup as he had been superb for Ajax against City in a friendly a couple of months before. He was better than the others mentioned in this thread but was a big disappointment. A bit like JET - on his day a world beater, on other days a panel beater

Yep, story I have been told since was they spent the majority of the time between the Portsmouth & Notts County games in the Baccy Jar in Whitchurch..

They were in there most days throughout the season fuelled on courage director’s bitter. Maybe it’s the time to include it in the present teams training program at the HPC

What , and a piss poor non-league club with a smaller ground and fan base than the gash  would ?

Yes, because with Cotts in charge it will be a great promotion season with exciting football

  5. Fantastic, as ever, @Jerseybean but you’ve missed one famous fact about Norwich - i.e Kemps jig. Will Kemp was a contemporary of William Shakespeare and along with Shakespeare, a shareholder in The Lord Chamberlain’s Men, the troupe of actors who built the original Globe Theatre. He was a comic who was famous, at the time, for his comic improvisation. As Shakespeare became more famous he wanted to be regarded as a serious playwright and fell out with Kemp who felt that as he was a star he shouldn’t be restricted to a scrip. Kemp decided to prove his celebrity status by Morris dancing from London to Norwich in nine days, becoming the first nine days wonder.

Renewed my tickets today after much deliberation. I have decided that I would miss the social aspect of match days too much, the football itself much less so. I was hoping Manning would be gone as my enthusiasm and expectation are very low but at 70 I may not get many more seasons. It will probably be another wasted season but as a City fan what else is there ?

That’s the same for me. If the people I go with decided to go to - eg  Forest Green - I’d be happy to go with them. The Ashton Gate experience nowadays doesn’t inspire me at all

@Three Lions only after your opinion,

Q.1. do you think this is a natural position?  If you think it is, that’s fine by me.

    IMG_0274.jpeg.937a59d676b624c2dc676cfe9282cce7.jpeg

Q.2. Do you think the defenders method to block the ball was risky, in terms of potential for ball striking hand / arm, and ref giving a penalty?

FWIW, seen them given, seen them not.

Q.3. Can the referee see what the ball hit from that position? IMO the answer is  no. She is in a good position to see Pring and the defender, but what the ball hit, and how it hit it, is probably blocked by the defender’s back. I think you can only give a penalty from that position based on an assumption, which is the wrong thing to do

It was never ever a penalty

If that was awarded against us we would be livid

That’s what I thought at the time. I’ve just watched the highlights and this confirms my opinion. The first screenshot shows the position of the Huddersfield’s players arm which is definitely not in an unnatural position. Therefore no penalty. The second shows the referee’s position. From where she was she couldn’t possibly see what really happened so the penalty award was just a guess

I just perused the Huddersfield forum. Obviously they’re very bitter about the penalty award and complaining about the added time and accusing Rebecca Welch of being the worst referee ever.

What they don’t t seem to realise is that the 5 added mins is a minimum and during that 5 mins their players were time wasting and she simply added it on - that’s good refereeing in my view and boy! I’m glad that she did.

However - we City fans would have reacted in exactly the same had we been on the end of such a decision and reinforces my belief that we football fans are all the same regardless of which club you support.

A very good point from the Huddersfield forum was that there was only 5 minutes added onto the whole of the 45 minutes of the second half yet also 5 minutes added onto to extra time 5 minutes!

I’m going to show my age here, but does anyone remember in the 90s the club put four or five options for kits out in the Evening Post, and one of them was red and white halves on the shirt?

I do, but I don’t think any of them made it into production

But by giving no minutes dies that not suggest he did not want Mbdude?

It may be he wanted him based on the favourable scouting information he received. If so the blame lies with the scouting system

You just don’t get caps like that nowadays. Much better than a baseball cap

Man City 1966.  The game was shown on MoTD.

I can remember that match. I couldn’t go and, in those days, Match of the Day was  shown on BBC2. We didn’t have BBC2 as it required a more modern aerial than the traditional H shaped ones. I kept pestering my parents to get with it and get BBC2

Yes don't get it. Did LM not want him. Do we assume he does enough in training to get his seat on the bench but not seen as good enough to get minutes ?

I think he gets his seat on the bench because the squad is so small, plus LM doesn’t want to put other younger players there. If Mbude didn’t even make the bench that would mean LM is admitting he’d made a big mistake and he doesn’t want to do that

  14. I remember Dickie Rooks but had to look him up on Wikki for the details. Alan Dicks signed him for £17k which was quite a lot of money for City in the 60s. Looking back AD made some shrewd signings during his time as manager

  15. I don’t care about the rest of the season as I’ve lost interest. It’s next season that I’m worried about. Currently we have a team that usually scores either 0 or 1 goal per match with the league position boosted by a good defence (only 3 teams in the Championship have conceded less goals). That’s a very imbalanced team / style of play. It doesn’t matter if City sign a new striker in the close season as the style of play doesn’t create many clear chances. I’m sure Tommy Conway would score more playing in a different team. If he feels the same he’ll be gone in the summer.

Look at the teams near the bottom of the league. You can ignore Rotherham as they are the perennial yo-yo team, and Plymouth as they’ve just been promoted. For me, City now are no better than any of the other clubs near the bottom and, unfortunately, that’s where I expect the team to be next season

With Robert’s looking pretty decent I wouldn’t mind if we cashed in Pring for decent money.  Use the fund to strengthen up top

If Roberts plays in the back 3 or 4 (his best position) and Pring goes who will play left back / wingback?
