  1. Managed to set up most of their chances too, by consistently losing the ball.

Today was the laziest, most lackadaisical performance I've ever seen from Jay. Let loose balls just go by him, zero movement off the ball, no anticipation, no tackles, consistently drifted out to a wide right position, duplicating where Waggy was covering . For all his goal threat he might as well have been sat in the Dolman.

I think his sum contribution was two good passes.

Cotterill obviously thought so too, which is why he was the first to go off

If he had gone off for a few 10 minute periods to have some cheese sandwiches and a cup of team, would anyone have noticed? I don't think so. There has been talk recently that he had improved his fitness levels. If this was the new super fit JET, how bad would he have been before?

  2. What's the problem with trying out Pack and Smith in the same midfield? They have both excelled when been called upon this season, nothing against Wade Elliot mind.

I was thinking the same. Elliot has looked slightly off the pace in recent games. Although he's fit, at his age, he's inlikely to start every match and a rest could do him good. If he was on the bench he would be a good player to bring on for the last 15-20 minutes.
  3. One of the many reasons I was horrified by the appointment of Cotterill is that he's got a long habit of saying moronic things in the press that piss the fans off and cause disruption. He's really not very bright at all.

I hope we scrape by this season, but I wouldn't bet on it sadly.

What do you mean, he says moronic things? In last night's Post he said

that City must not slip back into the bottom four. It took a lot of intelligence to work that out.

  4. I cannot understand the 'we need to get something at orient' comments. Ludicrous. There are 16 games left. Home games are where we need to concentrate on. Not away to a team at the top.

I agree with these comments to a certain extent as there is still 16 matches to go. However we've only taken 4 points from the last 5 matches. Lose to Orient and it's 4 from 6. Our home form isn't that wonderful (we only managed to beat Carlisle thanks to a few minutes of magic from Marvin) so we've got to pick up a few points away.

  5. I'm going to give the opposite opinion to the majority of the posters. I think this is a good team selection!

Although I rate JET, this doesn't mean I feel he has to be selected for each game. Even top teams in the Premiership rotate players and operate on the. " horses for courses" principle. IMO, in this game, City need to be able to break at speed from defence. A lot of posters seem to have forgotten Barnet's performance earlier in the season and have dismissed him as a good player. To me he is the ideal player for this sort of game on a heavy pitch.

  6. There are a lot of complaints about the defence after every match. Much of this is justified but I don't think the defence is the main problem. In any match, if you don't control the midfield, you don't control the match. How often has City controlled the midfield in any match in recent years? We've got too many midfield players who can do some nice touches, or can run around a bit, but where are the tough players who can tackle, track opposing players etc?

(If anybody knows, please tell Cotts so that he can sign a couple)

  7. When Duncan Edwards signed for Man Utd the signing on "fee" was a new washing machine for his mother.

Bristol City, although an English club, won the Welsh cup in 1934.

Bristol City's first floodlights were designed and built by the chairman's own company. (Harry Dolman - Brecknell Dolman & Rodgers)
