So we have established we have never stolen anyones ground

As for 82, i beleive we made an offer to buy AG when you were going bust. Thats buy, as in not steal

Technically not stolen a ground, but the circumstances of Rovers obtaining the Memorial Ground must be embarrassing to any honest fan. The owner of Bristol Rugby puts the club into administration  before any interested party has the opportunity to take over, meaning Rovers can buy the ground for £10k. The same person just happens to be a lifelong Rovers fan who became a life president of the club. Absolutely nothing illegal but surely a conflict of  interest?

    Am I right? :blink::facepalm:

Have you forgotten Boyle's Law? What did you do in physics lessons at school?

Boyle's Law - The pressure of gas increases as the volume decreases. Using this, I've calculated that the answer is linked to the phases of the moon

So the question has to be asked, what do the investors want in return for their cash

Let's think about this for a moment. Could it be lots of love from the Rovers's fans?  Perhaps not. A few free tickets to watch lower league football? Perhaps not.

How about a good return on the investment?  As building a new ground for a loss making League 2 club is high risk, the return must be high to justify the risk. It's not the same as a bank giving somebody a loan to buy a house as, if that goes pear shaped, the bank can repossess and sell the house. If a football club goes bust there is little resale value in a football stadium other than the value of the land.

So, high risk investment = big returns for the investors = a big drain on Rover's finances for years to come. (That's the best case scenario)

Just in the interests of "dotting the i's and crossing the t's" it might not be. Whilst the Court of Appeal may have rejected permission to appeal to the Surpreme Court, you can appeal against that decision by asking the Supreme Court directly to consider the case.

Why not go the whole hog and appeal to the European Court of Human Rights? If that fails, they could try the European Court of Justice.

  5. Nick Higgs has taken a lot of flack from the forum over the years, but I think we should all apologise. He's obviously an astute businessman as he's manage to offload all his debts to a  squillionsaire from Jordan on the promise of a £30m windfall from Sainsbury. He's laughing all the way to the bank

Not shouting anything from the rooftops, not even poking my head out of the 2nd floor window!

Apart from the deluded few, we all know that the new owners are not billionaires. My approach is to see how things unfold, I'm old enough to know the value of the Emporer's new clothes.

Court verdict to be delivered on Thursday morning.

Court verdict on Thursday morning! It will be interesting reading on the forum, whichever way the verdict goes.

The accepted rule is that if in any doubt at all whether your post deserves a new thread to be started then you should always start a new one to be on the safe side.  You otherwise run the risk of hijacking the existing thread for which no-one will thank you and may actually risk your being banned from the forum.

I prefer reading the "go off at a tangent" option. Quite often a load of rubbish, but interesting rubbish. When a thread gets a bit stale just throw in a bit about Radio Bristol / Geoff Twentyman etc and it will be revived for another 10 pages.

The Chairman's report is worth reading:

"Finally, I would like to put on record our thanks to past Chairman Nick Higgs and the former Board members for all their efforts in keeping this great Club financially solvent and sticking with it whilst it made it’s brief appearance in the National League."

Financially solvent! Have I missed something?
