  1. Owned by your grandfather! That’s ruined my day as it makes me realise how old I am. I take consolation from the slogan I saw on a tee shirt - “I may be old but at least I saw all the best bands”
  2. Mods were either Lambretta or Vespa fans. I had a Vespa Sportique which was a strange design as the engine was fitted on one side of the frame and not in the middle. Hardly ideal for stability, but it still got me (same as you) to Weymouth and Torquay many times. The misc chrome mirrors, crash bars and racks were probably worth more than the Vespa. This has nothing to do with Rovers, but it’s more fun than thinking about them and their tent based ground
  3. An Austin Somerset with a column gear change, panoramic sliding roof, acceleration of 0 to 60 eventually and a top speed of approx 70 mph
  4. Do you own an anorak? This is my first car. Do you know what it is?
  5. They’re going to wear it away to Coventry, who play in blue, next week.
  6. Stadium of Blight Field of Beans Marrow Road
  7. Rovers sell the existing ground to help fund the new fruit market development. Rovers then ground share with eg Bath City for a couple of years whilst the new ground is being built. Unfortunately after the Memorial Stadium is sold there are unfortunate developments beyond anyone’s control and the new ground doesn’t get built Just a possible scenario
  8. Wael’s statement is vague to say the least. He’s said that the fruit market is one of the sites he’s looking at, not “the” site. Also, as has been mentioned on this forum, there’s also the issue of the site being owned by various parties, with no public guarantee that they are prepared to sell. There is either a lot happening in the background that hasn’t been made public or he’s stalling for time to stop the natives getting restless
  9. If Rovers get a bid for Clarke Harris they should accept it without question. He had a good 4 months with them, scoring some amazing goals. Prior to that his scoring record in the lower leagues was poor. He could have become an amazing striker overnight or, more likely, the spell with Rovers was a flash in the pan
  10. I think that idea bit the dust when it was realised that it probably wouldn’t get planning permission due to blocking the light on the houses behind. A two tier stand wouldn’t just be higher, it would go back farther, right up to the boundary of the houses gardens.
  11. The Ashton Gate redeployment cost approx £45m - £50m. That was basically 2 new stands (Lansdown and South), extra seats at the front of the Dolman plus roof extension and a media centre So, yes, at least £20m for the Lansdown.
  12. Miah, you’re not comparing like with like. You should compare the price of your season tickets with those clubs of a similar stature. For example, you can get a season ticket at Bristol Manor Farm for £108 if purchased before 1 July. Better football and a better stadium for far less money
  13. I’m sure it’s just a social club that’s been there for a long time with no connection to Rovers
  14. If he’s had to cut his budget by that much, the players must be paying Wael to play. Just like on the Downs, but with a lower standard of football
  15. There are signings and there are signings
  16. They have learned their lesson from that experience. They now put up tents which they can take with them when they are evicted from the Mem
  17. Nick Higgs must have been a wonderful salesman to be able to offload Rovers to Wael and his family, but he had the benefit of the watertight contract with Sainsbury’s and a new ground on the horizon. Now both are gone, what can Wael offer? There are plenty of clubs in Leagues one, two and the National League that have better stadiums, and could be bought for less than the cost Rovers. Just one example - Chesterfield in the National League have a new stadium, with no tents in sight, and room to expand.
  18. Yer Tis. It’s portable and can be used as a second Santa’s Grotto if required
  19. That’s nearly true. If he played as a centre forward in division 4 of the Downs League he might get four or 5 per season
  20. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it’s rather strange to comment about another club’s badge when your own club’s biggest change in recent years is to install Championship ready sprinklers and a new tent.
  21. Most teams have had matches postponed due to heavy rain but, whilst at Eastville, Rovers managed to have a flooded pitch that was definitely unique
  22. I had the misfortune to be near the minimal stadium 5.30 - 6.15 ish. Not many Rovers fans (well it is raining) but plenty from Sunderland who all seemed to be heading for the Wellington. Obviously going there to tell the few Rovers fans they meet how wonderful they are and how they hate those awful Teds.
  23. The forum is definitely the font of all knowledge. I’ve lived in Bristol all my life, but had never heard of Banjo Island until the recent posts. Have I missed anything?
  24. ..... but they are stupid enough to let a player score a goal that relegates them whilst wearing their own kit
  25. It’s been replaced by the Gas cock up
