Had a quick 15 minute crack at some basic figures from some older spreadsheets I have, gave them a quick update.

      Johnson £21,500,000 £15,600,000 75.75%
      Pearson £8,600,000 -£7,800,000 23.84%

Long story short - LJ got back 75% retained funds of transfers as money to spend - currently, Nige has had 25%.

I meant that it’s no different to any other manager  in that they have had to sell their best players constantly

I feel a bit sorry for Nige, the club sells our two best players for £35m this year, we invest about £6m in new players and yet we as fans expect the team to do better than last year, it's not really logical is it? Added to the fact it's the last year of his contract, I imagine SL's thinking he'll give him till January (or maybe a bit later) to show we're challenging for top six but if not he'll be gone to give the new guy a chance to assess the squad before the next summer window. He's probably also thinking he needs to keep some cash back to give the new manager funds if that's what happens.

No different to any other manager we have ever had to be fair

  3. Interesting that a few of you saw Williams as having a good game - i thought he was poor today and we look much better when Naismith was on the pitch.
I’m not a big fan of Memheti, didn’t think he offered anything, wouldn’t get a start for me. At half time I’d have shoved Pring forward with Robert’s behind or moved Cornick inside and Bell there for Mehmeti, Tanner was poor all game.

I guess the bigger thing to the club is money

We don't need the extra space for home games, but the away fans can fill the space

I’d give away fans the whole stand if i was in charge

Bigger clubs get favorable decisions. I don’t think it’s overt but I do think referees give major decisions way to often to the bigger club, in their head!

I only said this to Mrs Oxo the other day. Horrifying how foul throws are being let go.

I’m not sure it’s particularly corrupt until it comes to the money slopping around.

But bad decisions are now highlighted and in some cases not corrected.

Last night was akin to an assault

How do you explain last night? And I’m no conspiracy theorist but I’m struggling with some of these decisions

I'm not saying the game is bent but if it did come out years down the line that decisions like that were being made deliberately in favour of selected clubs based on their size and standing in the game it wouldn't be the biggest shock ever.

I think with VAR it’s getting harder to actually argue with people that say football is corrupt - some of the decisions are just so bad you can’t even begin to justify them.

At least before you had the ‘he only had one look’ line as a defence.

And to @Magger1 - don’t get me wrong if there was an Ellis Simms type available in our budget then I could see the clamour…but I’d still be thinking, who are we gonna sell / move-on out of the 7 forwards (the current 6 plus Weimann).

Am i right in thinking that we don’t actually have much room wages wise to bring in more players now?

Haaland is just a bit special and Man City create for him without lumping it.

He also does very little but score!! Also a bit different when you have De Bryne, Grealish, Foden etc behind you setting up chances
