  1. Looks the line up of a man who rates his signings, regardless of evidence to date. Hope I am proved wrong. Just cannot see us competing in midfield.

Absolutely thrilled to be proved wrong!

Great to see the away day fans getting something to cheer. Really needed three points - can be season defining IF we now follow it up at home.

    Well done the lads.

  2. For those moaning we actually played well today. Horrific conditions didn't help. I would say that although a point was a fair result we just about edged it. Had we got Wes Burns into the game more second half and JET later on we would have won. Just not quite enough creativity in the final third.

Marlon Pack was absolutely superb today and was without doubt the best player on the park. We looked so much better with a back 4. Some will also be disappointed to here that Aiden Flint was exceptional today. He looked very assured, but probably because it was a back 4 and he wasn't being booed or covering El-Abd's ass all game. Incidentally El-Abd also very good. We've not looked that solid for a while.

    That is great to hear.

Should not forget Oldhams form recently has been half decent.

If I am frustrated, its that El playing better in the centre should not be a huge suprise and should not have taken that many games to discover. Anyway, lets hope he can settle down now, and well done to Flint. Sounds like he could even have won it late on.

  3. We looked a lot better with the players who finished the game, than with those who started. Be interesting to see if SC opts to start with Burns  and also play Jet "in the hole" on Tues.

Also Flint and El Abd looked more solid as a central pairing. First half was very poor though. Reid looked completely out of his depth today.

Could not make today, but interested in your comments on El - could it be he is better in a position he has played in since before ww2?

  4. He has got goals, and everyone seems to agree, even him, that he dould have got a few more.

So here is the thing. Given its not entirely clear who we could play as an alternative that would knock them in for fun, what is our best chance of getting the best out of him? Boo, jeer etc, or give him support, notwithstanding his weaknesses?

  5. My last word on this as other things to do, but agree with the post above that he needs to learn a litle more variation with just the goalie to beat.

Two games against Mk, scored two in each, could have won or lost both games easily, he missed most likely his easiest chance in both. In a microcosm, Mk sum up our season so far.

Not sure what that says! Equally they missed at least one on one that we put down to decent saves.

Equally, if we had been told he would score twice today before the game, would we have taken that, regardless of how many chances it took? I suspect so.

  6. It's the same argument as "Well at least he's trying", it doesn't stick at all, 22 1 on 1s and to score 0 any player in any division at any level is shocking

I am not sure that is entirely fair.

It is being said he has missed 22. I have not counted them, but Its not really 0/22 is it - more like 6/28 or something.

For most forwards, I supect their scoring rate on a sample comprised solely of misses is not that great..

  7. I'm not sure that it's a question that I can answer, if we were playing well and the rest were chipping in goals then I would be happy if he had scored 3.

The fact is we are where we are and part if that reason is Baldock has missed 22 chances where you would expect a competent striker to have scored at least half of them.

There is no reason to say Baldock should not be on a very minimum of 22-25 goals already this season with the chances he's had.

    There is the conundrum.

He really could be the top scorer in the country right now. However to say that to be content with him, because of how the rest of the team is doing, he would have to be the countrys top scorer is setting the bar very high indeed.

It is very frustrating, but if we were tighter, I think we would be celebrating his winners much more than his misses.

    I think...

  8. Well its all about views I guess.

Just find it odd those who have a go at our front two for missing chances, as if the chances created are delivered like Xmas presents and completly unrelated to how the two are playing.

To be honest, I can find the workrate, missed chances as frustrating as anything to. I cannot think of a City side that so consistently creates chances - I just happen to think a fair bit of that is down to Jet and Sammy themselves!

  9. As I keep saying, Has Sam Baldock really scored any goals this season he had absolutley no right in doing so? No

Has Sam Baldock missed 22 1 on 1 chances with the keeper this seadon? Yes

Should Sam Baldock have scored more than he has this season? Undoubtably

Some of his finishes have been decent. I to would have liked him to have scored a few more of course, but I refer you to my previous question. Given those chances, how many would he have to have scored at this stage for you to have been content?

  10. Serious question - for those writing him off, given the chances he has certainly had, how many goals do you believe he should have had at this stage of the season, for you to have been happy with his finishing ratio?
