Sheffield Wednesday away match thread

Loan player for them, just saying. Our defence not great there. -
Got to love the Championship!

Should be out of it by rights, but Leeds somehow find themselves ahead. Bad decisions from the officials and bad finishing costing Leicester.

I get the anyone can beat anyone posts that get made now and again, but this is now a ‘thing’, and it’s not going away. LMs record against the bottom half is now something like W0, D3, L6. That is well beyond the normal swings and roundabouts in the Championship and symptomatic of a real issue. It was not new today, nor was the way they played in any way unexpected. We tried what had failed to work in previous matches and looked bereft of ideas when it failed to work this time. Its been enough matches like this now to, well, try something different!

Might need to be integrated etc, but have to say today he looked all at sea.

Dire looked like he had won a lottery to play. -

Well, that’s a shocker. Game too far in this run? They set up exactly as everyone expected, and we had no idea what to do about it at all as if it was a complete shock. Awful awful awful. -

Stating the obvious, but we simply have to work out how to play hard working sides that set up like QPR have. Nothing about how they have played has been a surprise. -

So far, looking like our second 90 minute performance in a row… -

Running out of ideas and just having hit and hope shots. Just to easy for them right now. Half the half gone, and they have come closest. -

They look more likely to nick another than us at the moment. -

This half is already drifting. We need to take a risk or two instead of allowing them always to reset. Just too easy for them at the moment, and we have showed too often we are not very good at it. -

Probably edged the half without creating much, their first real chance, poor defending, a goal down. Disappointing is not the word. Too many looking leggy and not on their game. Not really be hard for them. Hoping for much better in the second half! -

Umm. Pretty much their only effort. Think we all saw this coming sadly. -

Kind of game we might have feared it turning in to in fairness. Not exactly a cracker. -

Hopefully not as serious as it looks. Just as we are getting players back. Ho hum. -

Yep. If I was splitting the tiniest of hairs, a wee bit lopsided to midfield and attack and not so strong in the dedicated CB area, but strongest for ages. Even in defence there are options. -

8 of those on the bench could be starters on another day. If Pring and Naismith are back soon, suddenly we are going to need a bigger bench! -
Other than 15 before half time, dominant from Southampton. Extremely difficult team to play against when they get a goal up.

Play-off Numbers (not going to happen) are satisfyingly round
cityexile replied to fairweather's topic in Football Chat
Me, one week ago, “there is always one team that loses form and crashes from midtable in to the relegation battle. Looking like it could be us...” Me, now “there is always one team that comes from midtable, has a great run and makes the play offs...” -

And not lost to Norwich. 3 more points there and less for them. I imagine every team has ‘what ifs’ across a season, but just shows the thin lines. I think more objectively it’s home defeats to the likes of Stoke and Millwall that sink us. -
50 years ago (Leeds), 30 years ago (Tinns), 40 years ago?

My memory can very well be playing tricks, but did we not beat Swindon 1-0 the penultimate game to secure promotion? Certainly remember the Swindon game and leaving thinking ‘that’s it, we are up’. Sure that was 83/84, but it all merges together after a while.
