The stewarding around A and B block in the dolman was nothing short of disgraceful

That's complete horseshit, they did a really good job, and were polite and good humoured throughout. Unbelievably patient with the kiddies who apparently can't cope with not sitting with their chums,  and practically held their little hands to help them find their correct seats.

The club are I would suggest treading a fine line so best so sit on the fence a bit, head below the parapet etc.

While there was quite a bit of positivity about it, there have also been complaints on social media in particular pertaining to the issue of seats and or overcrowding. The club have to be seen to be acting responsibly etc.

While it looked good fun in there, the club need to present as responsible and risk free an image as possible and longer term need to find a solution to satisfy all- and that second bit it won't be easy!

It was quite good fun once things calmed down, but my wife probably won't go on Saturday because quite frankly she was scared and got knocked around a bit. Nothing malicious, just an inevitability of the crush going on. We probably would have left before kick off, but there was no way out and it was safer to stay put.

I saw many parents with little kids leaving as they saw the situation develop, quite understandably, and I doubt they'll risk it this weekend either. We can't allow genuine supporters who through no fault of their own, are being forced to make a decision whether to attend or not purely due to the fact they need to protect their family. That's unacceptable.

  3. Ok for a bit of context, firstly , I loved the atmosphere, had a season ticket in Block A for years, initially due to the fact it had the more vocal fans in it, which sadly became diluted over the years.

However it was massively over capacity today which is obviously unsafe if allowed to continue, as mentioned above many season ticket holders couldn't access their seats, and due to the standing throughout the game many people who aren't able to stand or are vertically compromised such as my missus couldn't see. Now when this problem arises in away games the solution put forward is to move to the front, but this was frankly not possible.

What did surprise me was how polite my pubescent little friends were, so credit to them there, but if block A is to be reclaimed as a singing section these problems need sorting out.

Semenyo had a good chance, dragged wide, a combo of Wells not getting enough contact on a cross and Dasilva not able to force it in at the back post after his glanced shot.  Weimsnn’s volley.  We did look like scoring imho…without Weimann and Tanner’s woodwork efforts.

I've got no issues with how we played Dave and any argument over whether we looked like scoring or not is completely subjective. Fact is we didn't score.

From the amount of possession we had, positions we found ourselves in and chances created , we should have done. Tanner's strike was unlucky, but everything else was down to poor finishing, poor choice or poor execution of the final ball. I don't have a solution it's just my opinion.

Well apart from hitting the bar, the post, Semenyo putting one just wide and another straight down the keepers throat when he should have scored i agree.

2 great chances, centre of the goal 10 yds out and we fail to hit the target, and a wonderstrike from Tanner. I'd throw in a low cross from Sykes that somehow Wells failed to connect with. Tanners effort was the sort you'll see once a season, and the other three didn't test the keeper. I stand by what I said. We didn't look like scoring.

  6. Never looked like scoring. And bringing on Semenyo and Martin made it even less likely. Forget how many cross's were quoted first half but it was a lot. All comfortably cleared. Another single defensive error , albeit offside and the game was over.

Tour of Britain cycling event planned for Glos & South Glos on Friday has been cancelled.
It’s sad news, as the kids in our school have spent the week making flags and banners for the cyclists as they come through the village, so they will be disappointed.

Yep, had plans for this, and as opposed to any weekend postponements, no chance of this being rearranged. Huge shame Harry

Why are you awaiting anything ? There will be the usual national grieving period that any nation goes through when a monarch or head of state dies.

I'm not. I was referring to the official EFL statement on this matter as per Fev's post earlier. Unless I misread it the EFL stated they were awaiting the guidelines

Never really know why people change their usernames, unless there's something to hide.

Must of missed the drama, and now it makes sense as to why that other poster has disappeared from the forum!

I've been thinking about changing mine for years because it's rubbish. Just can't be bothered.

It’s true that only two jabs gives a reduced protection, but it’s more than “very little protection”. Another factor is being outdoors as this reduces the risk as fresh air disperses and dilutes the virus. Being outdoors with other two / three jabbed people is bound to involve a risk of some sort but it’s a reduced risk compared to some other environments. Every day people do things that involve risk. Luckily most of the risks are extremely low, but every day people decide to accept or reject the risks. It’s the same with covid. Different people have different circumstances and different reasons for accepting or rejecting the covid risks

Not planning to get into a debate on this, but I'm a Clinical Lead running 12 hr sessions at various locations and I can promise you this is true.

I’m going to have amended Saturday afternoon. I’m not really worried about attending the match as only those queuing to get in will have a covid pass and it will be outdoors. Watching the match will also obviously be outdoors. The main risk will be in the concourse so I’ll wiz through that as quickly as possible wearing a mask. The thing I won’t do is go to the pub afterwards. That would involve spending time indoors in a maskless  crowd

Unless I'm mistaken the Covid pass being used still only requires you to be double jabbed. Which renders it fairly pointless, as two jabs gives you very little protection against the Omicron. Worth considering.

Perhaps the medics know perfectly well that the virus is highly highly highly unlikely to effect these young fit footballers and so they know they don’t really need it?

Stick to football Harry, you're a good read when you do that.

Or link us to another questionable piece of research demonstrating this possibility.

Or as a medic I'd ask you not to make such ignorant,, offensive assumptions on our behalf

Page 17 is a little more scary,

    Total Deaths in 28 days - 2772
    Vaccinated: 2285 - 82%
    Unvaccinated: 487

Why do you find that scary?

The majority of the population is vaccinated, and most that aren’t are in the younger age group and therefore less likely to suffer severe illness.

If 100% of the population was vaccinated, then 100% of deaths would be vaccinated individuals. That doesn’t mean the vaccine isn’t working.

what should scare you is what that figure would be without the vaccine.

Can a vaxxed person catch it. Yes.
Can a vaxxed person pass it on. Yes

This of course is completely true, and would apply to any vaccine that currently exists.

However, what I’m sure you’re aware of but for some reason fail to acknowledge is that the risk of both are significantly reduced.

Maybe a little touchy, sorry. it was the "if you're concerned dont go" bit that got me, its not that simple. I'm concerned about another lockdown and getting out of this as soon as possible not a quick fix seeing football in a very diluted manner, so opening *more* events than we had leading us into a lockdown seems a bit mad to me. Or at least doing it so soon. Like I said a few times, discuss it, but lets get to january and to some sort of stable, trackable number of infections first?

I think to put it simply, I don't trust people to make the right decisions, we've already seen that large numbers cant do so and it's likely just human nature as opposed to any real malicous intent so I'm not blaming anyone as such.

Positive signs are there, low case numbers today whilst its not worth looking at one day in isolation I think the 7 day average is down 25% now. It would be a shame if we didnt capatilise on this again and really drive numbers down now there is better track and trace via the app.

Fair enough . Couldn't fail to agree. Think we we're at cross purposes.

This is such a selfish attitude. It stinks of "I want to do as much as I can as soon as I can" whereas some of us dont want another bloody lockdown. I'd rather wait til April to be able to attend football if it meant I dont spend (potentially) another month barely leaving my house again.

It's not down to the individual to assess his/her risk IMO because they cannot control who they then pass the virus on to.

A curiously sensitive response to something I clearly didn't say. I'm not even supporting the re-opening of stadia, simply saying if this is going to happen then we have to make our own decisions on whether we attend or not, based on how we perceive the risk and how we can individually minimise it.

How that translates into 'do as much as I can as soon as I can, and bring on another lockdown' is beyond me?

Understand what you’re saying but it’s / the subject is not as simple as ‘if you’re concerned don’t go’

Yes , you can do that and eliminate the direct risk but surely the point / question is

Does allowing fans back risk spreading the virus ?

(The answer , to whatever degree has to be yes)

    so

What is the level of risk (To everyone , not particularly those attending) (Can it be accurately predicted ?)

    and

    is that risk acceptable ?

Spreading the virus would create danger and risk for everyone of us , particularly the most vulnerable , most of whom may never have set foot in a football ground

    Just my personal view

Totally agree, but in terms of figures, no one will be able to provide you with a comparative number. I would suggest the risk is significantly less than going to the pub/restaurant, supermarket, using public transport or going to work. It's probably more than pitching a tent on Orkney and staying there for the next 6 months. Like many others I've given up on trying to see the logic in the contradictory advice we've been given and do my own simplistic risk assessment on my current activities.

Which is what I was kind of saying in my original post. If you're uncomfortable with the situation don't go, because obviously the clubs are limited in their ability to sanitise the whole stadium.

It’s not the being outside, it’s all about controlling the queues. 4000 people need the loo socially distanced is a long line out the ground. How often do you clean the taps etc. in the toilet. Catering how do you safely queue and not touch surfaces.

These are the problems that need sorting when at the ground.

This is seriously overcomplicating, and if you're that concerned just don't go. I think it's fair that every individual decides the amount of risk they're willing to take based on what we know, but when you agonise over the very small risk involved in washing your hands after having a piss, I'm thinking don't wash your hands then. Problem solved.

Hearing that NHS Nightingale will be fitted with 2 morgues. Very sad but it sounds more like a place to send those who will more than likely lose their life. 4000 beds to be fitted. I don’t think we’ve even scratched the surface yet in terms of deaths in this country.

All hospitals have morgues of course. Nothing out of the ordinary there.

I think it's likely that the group of people you're talking about will be kept comfortable at home and won't get anywhere near a hospital as this escalates
