  1. wow...that is such a poor goal to concede in the last minute! What on earth goes through players minds?...'get rid' is surely the uppermost thought in the 96th minute?!!!
  2. Perfectly respectable performance today. I enjoyed long sections of it. We so easily could have won, and should have. But that's football. A last minute concession to concede points is SO Bristol City I'm surprised anyone is surprised by it - myself included! It's a long season, a season of consolidation. Not sure what some people were expecting. We'll be fine. Great to be back at the Gate!
  3. Enjoying this! Suddenly we have experience all over the park. Palmer a player transformed. Impressed by Atkinson. Scott showing some good confident touches.
  4. The bottom line, surely, is that the government has decided to let the virus let rip. In a world in which everything is voluntary there are more or less no robust preventative measures in place. The 'ping-demic' is simply a reflection of the prevelance of the disease. I've been pinged myself - on holiday in St Ives at the time of the G7...two of us were, in a party of 4. No logic to why it was us two - must simply have spent time in a shop or the street next to someone who tested positive. I can't see myself going to the Gate any time soon if the club has no controls whatever. I don't blame the club for that. We're all living through a massive public health failure overseen by one of the most incompetent governments the country has ever had. There will be lots of things I'll not be doing - going to the pub or taking public transport where I can avoid it being others. Going to a match is a hobby, a bit of fun, I can't see me risking bringing a life threatening disease home to my wife for the sake of watching City.
  5. I think, in part, the answer to the OTIB vitriol lies in something LJ had no control over...the way in which he was defended for so long by many on here as though he was some sort of messiah. They went on defending him long after his flaws had been exposed and loved doing it as it wound others up...myself included on occasion! I notice that a few of the same folk passionately supported the almost indefensible appointment of Dean Holden, and having been let down then decided that Pearson was the wrong choice. There's a contrarian tendency who greatly enjoyed LJ's tenure. Personally I liked him as a player, made the most of the talent he had. As a manager I found him irritating and pretentious. The opposite of the man we've just appointed.
  6. You predicted that scenario well!...that's exactly what happened. EDIT: I wrote too soon - implausibly Accrington got a 95th minute equaliser v Pompey and Crewe a 96th equaliser against Charlton Sunderland still favourites to remain in the play-offs I'd say.
  7. Their match day thread is full of precisely the same observations made by the OTIB LJ sceptics. He's in danger of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory yet again.
  8. I don't hate the chap. He's just not very likeable I'm afraid. Positively irritating - David Brent - obnoxiously full of himself. In his last 18 months or so he took the joy out of watching City for me. I find it amazing that others don't feel that... ...but we are all City fans. Nigel Pearson - who has managed only 100 or so games more than LJ but has achieved so much more - is a massive upgrade. Onwards and upwards!
  9. I can't begin to understand the affection for a chap who irritated the life out me for a couple of years. I liked him as a player, he wasn't up to it as a manger. I don't give any more hoots what he does next than I did McInnes. I'm amazed others do. What Sunderland achieve means nothing to me.
  10. Amazed to see the Lee Johnson Appreciation Society still going strong. BREAKING NEWS: he was sacked 8 months ago!
  11. I agree....but over time matches...even seasons...blur into each other, what's remembered are the truly stand out moments. With Steve Cotterill there are many of these, and because he left so soon after all of those really very few poor ones. By complete contrast I associate LJ with outstaying his welcome! That said if I had to pick a handful of my finest ever City moments they would include Korey's winner...but I associate that match with Korey and Joe Bryan far more than LJ.
  12. I have to confess I did! Sad I know... For the record in my original post wasn't referring to Top Cat btw.
  13. Thinking back over the past 40 years I'd say that Cotts managed the club through one of it most joyous seasons, just wonderful. Week in, week out, home and away, great players, great action, great spirit about the place. 6-0 to secure promotion, what a night! 8 goals on the last day of the season...come on, it's hardly surprising people remember him fondly! Of course it always ends in tears. My wife was recently reminding me that at the end I was calling for TC to go.
  14. One of the truly great City occasions. Travelled overnight from Ireland to get to it. Great day. Thanks to @BS4 on Tour... for the memory!
  15. Extremely sensible proposal. Something the club could consult on, or even offer, without being any more certain about the future. The season kicks off in just over a month. At a time of immense uncertainty it would be good to hear something official sooner rather than later.
  16. The season starts in under 7 weeks. The virus isn't going away. There won't be a vaccine that has been widely distributed in the near future. It's expected that there will be a second wave. It's anticipated that it may flare up again in the winter. I'd imagine therefore - indeed I'd expect - that every club in the country is working on contingency plans, including the not wholly unrealistic possibility that there are no fans at matches at all next season. For those thousands of us who paid up front, and on whose cash the club has been sitting for months, it wouldn't seem unreasonable to expect a tiny bit of communication...along the lines of the options being considered. The club might even ask the Supporters Club and Trust for input, assuming that they haven't done that already.
  17. Missed the first 20 mins but what I’ve seen looking good. Nagy impressive.
  18. I wholly agree with your earlier assessment. Well put. Exactly as I recall it. Took some real guts from some very local businessmen to turn things around. Btw I'd rank Julian Marshall as one of the poorest signings we ever made!
  19. I was there. Mayhem. Poorly designed ground, and poorly policed, as I recall.
  20. Oh, I had...hence the 'they truly are' line - I'd seen you'd got there first with it. Remarkable story.
  21. Barely there long enough to register who he was...but funny nonetheless. If confirmed they truly are the gift that keeps giving...
  22. I'm out of likes but thank you...still laughing!
