  1. Great comeback. I applaud everyone who travelled all that way today...you got your reward!
  2. Really impressive win. As was the win at Fulham. I was a massive LJ doubter but whatever has been reconfigured behind the scenes has paid off massively. We're watching some lovely first touches and pacey counter attacking play. Pleasure to watch. Congratulations to everyone at the club. And to Lee who's made some big calls and got them right. It might not last and there may be tougher days ahead but it's very promising. Today was a big test and a great derby win. COYR!
  3. Hahaha...what a result...gift that keeps giving. Hugely entertaining...
  4. Great result...and for those who made the journey...enjoy your evening!
  5. Hey...having been working in Ashgabat for the past few weeks of success I was thinking I might have left the luck there...but obviously not! Happy days!
  6. I am, and it is! Great to dip into a classic OTIB match day thread when you're a long way from home...
  7. Been following this in Turkmenistan where I doubt I'd find many fellow Reds to go out and celebrate with this evening - were there even many places to celebrate...but a great win. Well done all.
  8. For what it's worth...from the Millwall official site: "Harris...was pleased with an "excellent" performance in the West Country. "We knew had to be on the front foot and ready for the challenge from the beginning," he said. "I thought the performance today from my players was excellent. The team delivered the gameplan to stop Bristol City's strength of passing the ball between the lines. Ultimately, I've got a dressing room that's really proud of the performance, but disappointed they didn't get the three points. I thought we got stronger as the game went on. The subs made an impact, too. Barring a great save by the goalkeeper and hitting the woodwork, we'd be coming away with the three points...we managed the game very well today and were just missing that end product."
  9. The fixture list could scarcely have been more kind thus far...surely no one looked at it when it came out and thought it was an unusually tough August?...September on the other hand is going to be tough!
  10. Delighted to be able to say that I spent the afternoon enjoying sunshine in Cornwall. Travelling back up in time for the Villa match. This match thread has been a rather deflating read to say the least...what we need are the confident, consistent and commanding performances that well drilled and competent sides are capable of. We sound anything but confident and consistent at the moment...and rarely commanding. Pity, the season started so well...
  11. Over running engineering work means that the first train to get beyond Swindon to Temple Meads arrives at 11. Earlier trains diverted. Waiting at Swindon station. They're not making it easy today.
  12. Great stuff...we set out but got as far as the M4 closure... Hoping we're missing a good match!
  13. No need to apologise. I understand where you are coming from...but a couple of thoughts. From my perspective, looking back to, say, the 80s, no other manager has had so much offered them and made so little of it. I'd say that we have a squad that's more than capable of at least holding their own at this level and a set up off the pitch that in theory matches the standard required in the second tier. This is the first occasion that I can recall us squandering such resources. In the past we lacked something, usually a squad capable of competing. This time it seems, to me, that what we lack is a competent manager. I saw most of the matches we played under LJ up to Christmas. Something went horribly wrong in that first international break. And whilst it's true that some managers get away with criticising their player in public, very few do it. If you are Jose you can point to your medals and trophies as justification for your stance. LJ has nothing to fall back on, as a manager or player. Hordur Magnusson, to take one example, has already achieved more in his playing career than Lee Johnson and has a successful career ahead of him. If I was his agent I'd be looking for an exit. As for the future. I think he's blown it at City. He knew he was a divisive appointment. Not admired as a player, although I personally had no beef with him. If he continues then he's very lucky.
  14. I'm reluctant to intrude on the ongoing feud between you and Bob, but James, it really isn't nonsense. I'm not sure how long you've been supporting the club, maybe longer than me, but I started a youngster in the early days of the Dicks era. We've not had that many managers since, and for my money, and for all the reasons outlined in the thread addressing the issue, he really is the worst...and getting worse by the week. In addition to his inability to competently manage the playing side of things he now comes across as a completely charmless man, lashing out in the media in a cowardly way at players who can say nothing in return to defend their reputations. I can recall few, if any, of his predecessors who rubbished their own players....
  15. And SL would lose face - which his past record suggests he doesn't handle well...I'm thinking of the Coppell fiasco and his replacement by the far more comfortable Millen.
  16. Johnson's position has been untenable for months...I fear that one bad result will make no difference...I'm expecting him to be here next season come what may. Already renewed...but I can't see me wasting many afternoons watching the tosh LJ will be serving up.
  17. Fair play to you for being there RedM. It was on my list at the start of the season, even had an overnight booked. Back then I'd never have imagined we'd be scrapping for our lives. Safe journey back!
