Bloody hell Morgan Whitaker only cost around £1 million! 17 goals and 7 assists, that's probably more than our entire forward line.

Why can't we have a home record like Plymouth?

He’s superb isn’t he? £8.5m bid from Lazio last month, Plymouth valuing him at £20m.

    Plymouth look really good.

JP mentioned that he will be staying in Plymouth tonight for the first time since he was born there, to the disgust of his Cornish dad …. Commentary gold

He’s superb! Got our mention in already too!

  3. Definitely needs to be a museum. I get the point of a digital archive as well but these things need to be seen for real. I wonder if Cotts and Nige will feature in it?! 😂

One of the best things on the clip though was seeing Scott Davidson and how well he looks these days.

If Lm  it’s all on bt and Jon , no hiding from it .

    If lm fails

I agree, and Manning was Tinnion’s appointment, but if he (LM) fails then I’m sure Tinnion and Lansdown will distance themselves from it.

Connection. Pure and simple - the sense that fans, players, management and owners all respect each other and are pulling in the same direction and transacting honestly, working together to be the best they can whatever the level.

Thats what I think most fans expect from their club

Exactly this for me. We’ve had it in fairly recent times with GJ and Cotts and to a point with Nige under Gould.

We couldn’t be further from it at the moment though, in my opinion.

Whilst Premier League football would be nice for a bit I’ve actually felt more connected to City in league one than the Championship. Success is great of course, but being part of something meaningful is as good if not better.

If we can get that connection and win trophies fantastic!

On the plus side after this sale where Tinnion has lied to the fans I am confident he won’t ever do that again, be it in 1, 2 or 18 years. If nothing else he’s a man who learns from mistakes and will  be nothing but trustworthy this point onwards.

On a broader basis, I’m also totally confident that his reshaping of the squad from Wilson’s with multiple signings and a change in style from a side that was in the playoffs can only lead to success.

I’m also looking forward to hearing those up and coming artists Craig David and Fatman Scoop on the wireless later.

We also needed to sack a manager with proven success of getting promoted to the Premier League and replacing him with a young, up coming coach who….. on hang on… 😂

Was thinking exactly the same.  Change the individual names and the background colour to red and it could easily be here.

Interesting it was mentioned that they felt 2nd place was a falsely high position at the point when LM left.

I think that’s true actually and representative of most football fans.

Thinking about fans of other clubs I know I think we’re relatively patient with our managers actually.

Question: would you as a player walk in to a dressing room and feel motivated by Manning? I haven’t been able to watch one press conference in full, SOD was more engaging! That says it all! I never missed a second of NP pressers.  I go back to Tommy and the player reactions from Manning’s first intro to them, it was very uninspiring. The assistant coach also looks a rabbit in headlights in every photo! He reminds me of that Tony Doc who failed with McInnes.

I know what you mean, I find him the same. His interviews are a tough listen for me; he speaks quickly but says little, but ensures he throws in modern coaching phrases like “behaviours” and “principles”.

Away from football this style of management is always tough to engage with; straight talking leaders are often the best. Quite what footballers make of it I don’t know, and if it gets results they and we won’t care either.

I get what you mean about Nige, quite often I would be hanging on every word as it meant something, even when things weren’t great.

I think it's worth pointing out that S82 and the singing section are two different things

S82 are a relatively small number of people who sell the stickers etc to raise money for the flags and take responsibility for not only setting this up hours before every kick off, to ensuring everything is collected and put away after the game

I sometimes think it's a bit unfair those areas are known as S82, because the singing sections are a different debate

There are people who enjoy singing and creating an atmosphere but there are also people who are there because the tickets are so cheap

Well said, lots of fans still don’t get the difference between S82 and the singing section. There are even some groups in the singing section that don’t like S82 at times.

I'm not overly negative. Been here too many times before. But before a 'give Liam time' bandwagon rolls any further let's not forget that that's what the LJ apologists said month after month, until the club finally showed him the door. Giving LJ time was never the answer - given time he couldn't hold down a job at Fleetwood.

When Pearson was here - whatever you thought of him - he undeniably had experience of the level of football we aspire to play at, and of getting teams there. Liam Manning has a reputation as a good young coach and what else? A season at MK Dons where he was beaten to promotion by a team of cloggers managed by Gareth Ainsworth.

If Manning can't demonstrate a bit more nous in the league than in the recent run of matches then I'd be asking questions at the end of this season, not waiting. That said, good luck to him and I hope he turns out to be a good 'un. Work to do though, for all that Leeds are a class above last night was pitiful.

A good post and I generally agree with you but I think they will back Manning regardless now. He’s their man and having made the decision they did they certainly won’t admit failure.

Remember LJ (the previous version) took us on our worst run in our history and they still stuck by him with most wanting him out. I could see us flirting with and maybe even achieving relegation and they would still back him.

  11. Some really good posts on this thread, particularly from @Silvio Dante and @GrahamC. The OP is perhaps not the most articulate way of positioning the point but it’s still a good one for me.

Likewise I’ve become disengaged since Nige’s sacking. We all saw Lansdown for what he and the situation was and I hope no one forgets it. They’ve jumped the shark for me now though and all that togetherness we had under Nige, even when it wasn’t great, has all gone.

I think it will take a change of ownership and leadership to get it back for many fans now.

I didn’t like LJ at all, but if you gave him this squad tonight he would have got a better tune, Manning is so one dimensional, it’s a worry. Where is the new manager bounce?

Nigel Pearson was doing a good job under circumstance. What he needed was support from above.

Agreed and we had a togetherness and an ability to grind out a result. I see none of that with Manning. It’s his possession, behavioural, principle led football that is proving really tough to watch a lot of the time.

  13. I can’t stand either of these clubs but what a game last night especially the second half.

Wolves 1 - 3 down until the 85th minute grab a second, score a sublime goal in the 95th to get the draw only for a Man Utd teenager to grab a winner in the 97th!

Whoever you support you live for games like that.

  15. Just now, The Coach said:

Wonder if Pearson is laughing or quite peed off.

Had money to spend after alll….

Knowing Nige like we do laughing I would think as he knew exactly what was going on and what would happen; as did we to be fair.

It’s all a bit jarring but Max Bird is a good player so no denying that I think.

The deal is another interesting one. Is loaning back to the clubs our new strategy of getting deals done? Not sure where all this leaves the academy now, maybe it’s complimentary. The going back on loan approach is clearly a risk but there is less chance of him getting injured with them than us!

    This is my concern too.

When we brought Manning in it was framed as he's an excellent on the grass coach who will improve players and that he has plenty of experience in coaching youth players. I think lots was said about the pathway.

I am concerned that the the signing of Twine and Mebude is blocking that pathway. Although they both appear to be very good players. But the likes of Sam Bell and Yeboah and not going to become very good players unless they have that first team exposure.

Why is a loan signing and potential future transfer being authorised when it goes against what our stated strategy is? Our strategy appears to be all over the place. Especially with what you mentioned about it not fitting with how weve played recently.

Completely agree. As exciting as this may well where does it leave players like Yeboah?
