  1. In your opinion. Having read it the OP’s point is, along with the comments on selection process; but that’s my opinion.
  2. I know what you mean, I’m not sure I really want to watch this given his role in things over the last couple of weeks.
  3. Never happen mate, I’ve still not got over Pulis!
  4. I’ve just listened and for the first part I wondered where it was going as it all seemed a bit too positive for me and had no balance. Once the other contributors kicked in and the challenges and “what ifs” were posed it got really, really good and became a really interesting listen with excellent balance. My only criticism would be that due to the format it lost the usual OSIB humour and tangent embracing nonsense, but it was still good in a different way.
  5. I’m not a huge fan of LJ and I agree you can’t really compare them, and I can’t believe I am standing up for him here, but some of the comments about his career are a little harsh. Over 400 appearances as a professional player, including a promotion with us, isn’t bad at all (yes I get the playing for his Dad point), and success with Yeovil and Kilmarnock (again, yes I know). And obviously as a manager he got us to the league cup semi final (yes, I know!) and won the league trophy with Sunderland. I would suggest he’s achieved more as a player and as a manger in terms of the stats, but I also get the context of how all that was achieved, compared to Manning. Ultimately @Davefevs is right, we can’t and shouldn’t compare them (yes, I know I just did!).
  6. Disagreed on a few bits JP but good well made points.
  7. I think you are right, although my perception is different in that the people I know outside of OTIB are firstly far more vociferous about the Lansdowns and secondly pretty dismissive of Manning. I do agree with your point though, OTIB is a very small representation of our fan base, as indeed is any social media platform.
  8. I was about to say something very similar, good summary. I find 3 Peaps a difficult listen, they are too close to the club and it shows with virtually no criticism and as such has no balance. Their Robins Reunited interviews are excellent though. Spot on with OSIB although I’d add it’s also very funny, @petehinton and @Olé are brilliant on it. I used to hate FBC, mainly due to the audio issues and Ian Gay. But now they’ve sorted the audio and matured into it it’s now probably my favourite one (mainly due to OSIBs lack of content). It has good balance on every episode and doesn’t shy away from tough questions and analysis. I don’t agree with anything Ian Gay says, but he’s important to have on there for the different views he brings. It also makes for an entertaining show.
  9. I don’t disagree with you mate, and I’ve agreed with a lot of your posts on the last week. What I am saying is it will take a few games to establish if Nige’s players are playing for him. Whatever happens Saturday it won’t be down to Manning.
  10. Whether we win or lose Saturday I’m don’t think we can say it’s down to Manning. Give it a few games and we’ll see whether they are playing for him.
  11. Surely someone would’ve told him what he’s walking into?
  12. Thanks lads an entertaining listen but Chris Honor aside it sounded like you’ve changed your thoughts and views since last weeks episode on Pearson’s sacking and now back this replacement.
  13. I had process, philosophy and collaboration ticked off!
  14. @petehinton, Liam says he’s not tried Gold or Haze. How about a cheeky coup for the podcast and getting the first interview? Quite literally a Cider with?
  15. Having watched the press conference I thought LM did OK after his rabbit in headlights interview earlier. Looked nervous still, and didn’t give me much in the way of confidence but what he actually said was reasonable. He says “you know” more than Christian Roberts though and I had LJ vibes when he used “philosophy”. Quite liked Lansdown’s face when he said he liked our players and how we’ve played in some of our games. Lansdown on the other hand was a bumbling charlatan. Yes, we know he’s not great at interviewing but even by his standards he was appalling. His answers were poor but then the questions weren’t great either. Good luck Liam.
  16. Not a surprise but undoes his own argument for sacking Pearson. Not watched the live press conference yet but pleasing to hear he faired better there as he looked scared shitless in the club interview.
  17. Will this be available as a podcast Pete?
  18. Decent response JP and good to have another debate.
  19. You make some pretty good points there and I’d agree, he’s got no honeymoon period, a few losses on the bounce and it could get toxic.
  20. GJ and SC weren’t fan fares I will give you that, but both took over from managers who had to go and had promotion experience on their CVs.
  21. A reasonable question amongst the noise. As one of those people, if I put the “I didn’t want Pearson to be sacked” point to one side and that decision, however ridiculous, was made: For me it had to be someone who is better than what we had. So someone with proven experience at this level and of getting into the Premier League, but considering the current ownership someone who could collaborate with them.
  22. He’s already been here longer than I wish the Lansdown’s were!
  23. So there we have it then, its confirmed. One of the most underwhelming management appointments in Lansdown’s tenure. Not quite the ridiculousness of Dean Holden, but still taken a job many didn’t want to see vacant in the first place. He’s got a hell of a job getting a lot of fans on side who didn’t want Pearson sacked, along with gaining promotion with having no previous experience of doing so. I’m sure he’s a decent bloke though and will have been briefed on what he’s walking into, good luck Liam, in any event.
  24. One of the best assistants we’ve had in my view. Leaves with a lot of credibility and respect I would suggest. Thank you Curtis.
