  1. ‘You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain’.
  2. Indeed, he was probably touted as some sort of saviour, believes in himself to the point failure is everyone else’s fault and has had a shock at what’s transpired. For all that though he doesn’t sound like a man under pressure to me.
  3. Best reply to a typo I’ve seen! It’s so frustrating we’ve gone from Gould and Nige to this.
  4. Tinnion loves Manning. In his mind he’s not going anywhere. Lose on Sunday and you’ll have the wraith of Ashton Gate.
  5. The other quote, apart from the obvious one, that got me was the one about “we’re all heading in the right direction”! What’s that Manning?! Down?!
  6. I don’t get any sense from that he’s a man under pressure or that a loss on Sunday will do anything for his job security. As expected and as feared they are sticking with this charlatan.
  7. That’s a good point Fevs. If they act now a rebuild isn’t really needed, maybe just a couple of key players. If Manning is given the summer and brings in his own players and fails next season then we really are starting all over again.
  8. Some great points there. This will certainly make the fan fare of season ticket sales for next season a tough one.
  9. For me it has to be someone with experience of getting a club into the Premier League, or similar abroad. Other clubs have snapped up some of the obvious candidates there, but I would think Cooper is probably the one who would be available. Personally I think Lansdown will hang on to Manning as long as possible and hope we miss relegation.
  10. More time to develop as a coach? Quite possibly but the way it’s going not at our expense! Sunday is last chance saloon for me. He needs a positive performance and a win. Lose again and Ashton Gate I would’ve thought will have seen enough.
  11. Still a 6 point gap then, but looks depressing doesn't it? 5pm Saturday going into the Swansea game could look even more interesting!
  12. And also said it was “something he has to manage”.
  13. Not heard the pod yet but sounds hilarious! To reiterate a point I made on another thread, I have it on impeccable authority that he had a hand in Nige’s sacking and Manning’s appointment.
  14. Ease the pressure? No, not really, if anything it’s worse as the losing run continues and Swansea becomes a huge game. Granted it was an improvement over the previous three games.
  15. If you take all the emotion and relationships out of it I find it amazing Lansdown can’t see what’s been common in the successful managers of the last 20 years. Still he thinks the way to progress is a young up coming manager who is, perceptually at least, a yes man.
  16. That last paragraph is worst case scenario for me. Give him the summer, spend some money only to then sack a few months later and we go into yet another rebuild. If we lose Sunday we may be better off replacing before the summer and starting again then.
  17. Other fans seem to perceive him as the English Pep in waiting. He may well be successful at some point; it just doesn’t feel like it will be with us.
  18. Is the Swansea game the turning point then? A positive performance and a healthy win and we don't look back? Or another loss at a whimper and an atmosphere more toxic than we've seen in years? It feels to me its going to come down to that. The following games are harder for sure and whilst there isn't really such a thing as a must win game, this feels like one.
  19. Post of the night for me, one for FBC @headhunter I think!
  20. It was certainly an improvement on Saturday and we played well at times, but lets not kid ourselves, the concentration and defending was woeful. We were out done second half by an in game management master class from McKenna, a coach of the like we can only dream of right now.
  21. I'm not sure I'd ever say this out loud but I have this season wondered if Mark Ashton wasn't actually the problem.
  22. I am as critical of Manning as anyone but that was an improvement on Saturday against clearly a better team and manager. Second half we played reasonably well at times, but defensively clearly was woeful. For all that though 4 losses on the bounce is dreadful. Lose Sunday and the Ashton Gate crowd will make the decision for Lansdown!
  23. Yep, another loss but they don’t see the issues.
