And there's the nub.
A World Cup without England, Germany, Italy, Holland, Sweden, US, Australia, Japan etc is a World Cup no one wants to sponsor and a tarnished one that will not pull in maximum broadcast rights revenue.
Fifa runs on money. Just the threat should be enough.
it does extremely well .....for a registered charity
-
No it wouldn't.
Europe are only 54 confederations out of 209.
The world cup would go ahead without Europe - and the vast majority of viewers are not from Europe...
It may go ahead ,but who would want to watch it and more importantly who would want to sponsor it..?
-
But that's enough to keep the dodgy bastard in the hot seat!
I agree, if Uefa boycot the world cup it would be the end of him ,but it's not gonna happen is it .far to much money involed
-
How would he achieve that, baring in mind that Blatter has just basically had a vote of confidence
In fairness not from uefa, Africa & Asia yes

Can't sleep!! I would wait to judge fellas at least until UEFA have their meeting tomorrow. We always knew Spain would vote with Splatter... They have some secrets that need to be kept quiet. Quite how these troughers expect that with the FBI now involved i do not know.
Exactly, just wish the it would move on a bit quicker The tension is crippling
-
Agreed.
All mouth Platini - but he does represent some backstabbers as well.
UEFA needs a proper and firm leader to take on FIFA.
Its business as normal, those that have been arrested will get their punishments and Blatter will claim the moral high ground saying he instigated the investigations to get them out, whilst lavishing money on third world countries to keep him in power.
The world cup will go on in Qatar and Russia and we'll all watch and therefore be part of the farce.
No change ladies and gents, business as normal.
Yep, Teflon Sepp lives to fight another day .....

And now the fun starts! Let's see how big Platini's conkers actually are

BBC Breaking News:
Fifa presidential election
Posted at18:15Prince Ali bin al-Hussein withdraws from Fifa presidential election.
Nothing to see here, as you were, move along please....
pass me that rather large brown envelope....

I don't think Splatter needs help with a Gin Palace.
Cringeworthy words from the arse i must say; the guy reaches new depths of depravity almost every new press conference.
According to the stattos this morning Bin Ali has a minimum of around 100 votes probably secured so with Europe being about 50% of that he has garnered decent support elsewhere.. He needs about 130 to win if its purely on a 1 country 1 vote basis. Or is it a 2/3 majority he needs?
Still cannot see him winning; too many nostrils in the trough.
he needs 105 according to sky & is likely to get them,

Personally I'm rather enjoying watching the death throws of this house of cards.
Hopefully this will be the end of this odious little man.
Got to be fairly short odds on him doing a Maxwell
decent shout

The man needs help.......

Time to draw a line in the sand & pull out of the world cup unless he goes, **** what everybody else is gonna do
Stand up & do the right thing.
-
If noise starts coming from political circles about the 2018 World Cup switching, it'll be clear this is more about geo politics than the American authorities being wholly altruistic in their motives.
Agreed
-
It still could be, apparently those who are found guilty of corruption will obviously have their vote thrown out. Then they will do a 're-count' from the remaining 'legit' members. If the initial legit members majority of votes were for Russia then it will stay in Russia. Likewise Qatar, which is far more likely as they won the vote by an absolute landslide.
Good point, but just think the USA will want to give the Russians a serious bloody nose & if common sense is part of the investigation Qatar will be scrapped.
but only my opinion
-
Is that definite ?
I've read that UEFA have said they'll consider a boycott if it goes ahead, but decide on Thursday.
A stark warning i think, who will blink first.
-
I can't see Russia having that for one minute. From what I understand they can't do a re-vote or just hand the World cup to someone else though?
If proven that the vote was rigged then how could it be held in Russia
-
I'm backing the bid - I still have my flag
I'd quite like 2022 to be in Oz
me too,.....oz a good shout but the Yanks are gonna want something out of this, be nice to know that the winners will be able to tax any money paid to Fifa
as this was one of the stipulations of previous bids and the reason the Dutch puled out.
-
Really? That's very big indeed.
Surely Blatter can't ride this out??
Day 1 of a massive investigation...he's gone imo...England 2018 & USA 2022 being muted on Sky news
-
Just announced that they will boycott the congress if the election goes ahead
Great news, beginning of the end i hope.
-
If the vote on Friday goes the way of Blatter I would like to see a mass boycott or even better an alternative World Cup put in place for 2018 & 2022. If Europe and S America all did the same FIFA would implode regardless of who is 'in charge'.
UEFA have a big decision to make.

Ffs
Could you post a link ,i feel the need to comment

I missed the start of the conference: is this a hope, or a response to one of the facts presented?
Hope, but i can't see him riding this out
