  1. Strange as it may seem to readers of his wife's recent and well-justified media appearances, back in the 1970s there were most certainly loud and quite violent protests against the late Harry Dolman OBE.
  2. An extremely interesting characterisation: I must confess, I have never thought of the many Rovers fans I know in this light
  3. If the rumours are true, they may have their wish in just a few months time.
  4. To be fair, Gregor MacGregor tries hard; seems a genuine supporter and the quality of his articles/journalism appears to be improving.
  5. A very sad story. I knew the woman and her children when I was younger; lovely people and obviously staunch Rovers supporters. The woman was a volunteer worker and suffered from an addiction, as I am sure do many on this forum, and she has arranged to reimburse the Supporters Club for the financial loss suffered by selling her family home. Without wishing in any way to excuse or condone her actions, perhaps a bit of sympathy, even empathy, might be in order.
  6. But, seriously. LJ, manager/head coach of a team on the up; support from his board and, latterly, the fans, third in the Championship, with an outside chance of promotion and a realistic chance of a play-off position, not to mention the fact they are in the League Cup semi finals, thinking of throwing it all in to manage a team with whom he has no history, Tammy notwithstanding (for the last few months of his loan), looking doomed to relegation. Who truly believes he is in talks with Swansea?
  7. From their site earlier. Talking to a taff yesterday and he said swans been in talks with lickle lee and meeting up with him today,I said don’t bother he’s on a lucky streak and will soon fade I mean, why do they bother?
  8. Neither do I, quite the contrary. I am merely questioning whether the whole text of the offensive posts needs to be shown/quoted
  9. Most likely they do, but I see no reason to expose further on this forum the Tammy comment, nor the EH comment. Hearing it is not the point, nor is denying that some people actually say and believe these things: I just feel there is no need to give them extra exposure.
  10. For clarity, when I said: 'I think we have all grasped the point now, and perhaps the entire post itself could now be deleted' I was referrring to @Vincent Vega's post and not yours .
  11. And that would make the statement OK? What about 'you black ****'? Is that better? I think we have all grasped the point now, and perhaps the entire post itself could now be deleted or prehaps replaced with a paraphrased description. Seriously, I believe the Christmas school holidays have now started, and I would hate to think of some younger forum members reading this particular post.
  12. I hope to reply in a day or so, 'in BIG BOLD TEXT', that @1960maaan's post was factually correct, albeit premature (due to his premonition). Then again, I might just not reply....
  13. This is probably best explained by 1960's opening sentence.... 'Would be interesting to see the comparisons between us , since '82'
  14. Although, to be fair, some of their little Christmas ditties were quite amusing.... We Al Qadis of Orient are, Bearing gifts we travelled afar, Debts are mounting? We did the accounting, It's not looking good so far. Oh Bristol Rovers, money is tight, But Wael and Hani will see you right, Plan A misleading, Plan B proceeding, Guide us to thy perfect light. And, whilst not sharing their sentiment, to follow: Brain-dead City fans looked out Across the pitch at Trashton As the snake did demonstrate What they'd wasted cash on Nothing did he do that night 'Cept be a useless too-oo-ool But Lansdown thought him worth the brass What a bloody foo-oo-ool
  15. Well, hardly alas, because we won 11-0!
  16. It would seem your humorous post, just like sparrows and the late Chris Crowe, has flown over the heads of some on here.
  17. Don't worry. In just a few months, when you get your driving licence, you'll show them even the kids are red!
  18. @Leveller. Was this you , advising on the Memorial rebuild? You could build the new East End over the car park, leaving the existing stands intact, over the course of the season whilst finishing our home games early on. Demolish the East End and shift/rotate the pitch in the off season. Then you have plenty of flexibility over the reconstruction of the other stands, with the option for improved tents in certain areas and/or expansion westwards. You'd probably replace the west stand last as you could feasibly turn this into an all seater with little work and perhaps not even improve this area in the short term.
  19. Or perhaps, given their current financial problems, he was just hoping to catch up on the latest score on teletext by looking through the Rediffusion shop window - a bit dated methinks, but I well recall doing the same back in the day....
  20. A slightly esoteric subject, so I won't dwell on it, but now you mention eram, eras erat etc, I can't help but also recall amo, amas, amat etc.... Celeritur! Back to the football.
