  1. Ha! I made reference to that in the Wigan match day thread, and one helpful poster provided a link to the incident. I didn’t have the heart to respond that I was well aware of it and was just making a sarcastic comment. From memory, DW was forever mentioning it when he was involved in that racist controversy.
  2. Wow! That is a new (to me) and surprising element and, presumably, one of the reasons the CPS are persevering with the case. I must say, cynic that I am, I had assumed that, after so many postponements/adjournments the case was going to die a quiet death.
  3. It was, indeed, sad, as he was an extremely talented young player, who I thought would go very far in the game. He used to have a big fan on here (big or fat Dave or something similar) but I don’t see him post now, unless he has changed his name.
  4. Many years ago, I read an article where one famous player - something in the back of my mind tells me it may even have been Bobby Charlton - suggested that, just before matches in near freezing weather, the players would all be given a glass of brandy!
  5. A very promising young player and, if he perseveres and heeds the advice of his manager(s) and fellow, senior professionals, he should go far. Re. the comparison to Vardy, I hope he receives some sound advice concerning his choice of personal partner.
  6. I have never heard that, but, Wow; haven’t things changed? When I was younger, and it looked as if an injured player might require a stretcher, we used to chant ‘Bring on a dustbin!’. This is an entirely new level.
  7. I thought that, according to you, this was already sorted. I may be mistaken, but, if I recall correctly, you 'revealed' a week or so ago that Semenyo was 'definitely off', his injury whilst playing for Ghana was faked, his alleged 'injury' was supported by a duplicitous Ghana team medical spokesman in cahoots with a fraudulent local journalist and he was merely being wrapped up in cotton 'wall' before leaving for a princely sum this transfer window. I guess we shall find out during the next few weeks whether your fanciful story was true....
  8. I was, but the site I looked at only went back to July 2020. https://www.football-lineups.com/referee/2312/ And the only reason you remember that game is because a certain Cauley Woodrow scored a last gasp equaliser for Barnsley ?.
  9. I've just looked it up, and it would seem he has reffed us three times, all three in the 2020/21 season. The away match was Birmingham (we won 3-0), and the two home matches were Norwich (1-3) and Cardiff (0-2). I suspect it was the Cardiff match in which he was poor, although it may well have been all three.
  10. He is an Australian, who came over here a few years ago in a blaze of publicity having featured in an Australian match in which he was fully miked up and the (television) audience were able to hear his conversations with his linesmen and players alike. I saw some highlights and, to be fair, he performed quite well and the programme itself was very interesting. Unfortunately, he reffed at Ashton Gate a few seasons ago, I forget against who, and he was quite poor.
  11. Or even Nicky, as one of SKY’s co-commentators insisted on calling him today.
  12. I am very much an infrequent and casual boxing fan, but I consider AJ well on top and predict him to win - probably on points, but I am hoping for a stoppage.
  13. I remember my first game at Ninian Park back in the early 70s, as a young schoolboy. We arrived at the station to be met by a huge, baying mob of Cardiff fans, screaming and throwing coins. The men and 'big boys' charged out, whilst we scrabbled about picking up all that loose change - kept me in sherbert for weeks.

  15. Apparently, Howard Webb is going to take charge. I never thought I would think/say this, but I am rooting for you Howard.
  16. Do you have any idea why Coventry appear to play in red shirts, rather than Coventry’s traditional blue?
  17. Absolutely. At least we only lost 2-0 to a team who were barely good enough to be described as abject in the championship last season. I shall have to come back to you with a description of our level when we lost 2-0 back in March.
  18. Luton, especially so; I thought they were absolutely awful on Tuesday night. I know City played extremely well - their speed of thought and movement, both up front and in midfield, was exceptional - and whilst I should like to believe this was entirely of City’s own doing, I can’t help but think they were helped by a woefully poor and ill-prepared Luton side. I suppose the next few fixtures will give us a better idea of what to expect this season, but I do fear for Luton.
  19. Heavy rain was forecast ‘imminently’, so I’m a bit surprised they didn’t adjust their bootlaces etc. in the hope that the rain might arrive before 10 overs were completed, thus producing a ‘No Result’ and our first point. I suppose realistically, however, the umpires would have made every effort (quite rightly) to ensure they at least got to 10 overs.
  20. Ha Ha. I was actually being sarcastic and trying to be amusing ?. I assumed you used to go watching DURING the late 70s/early 80s.
  21. That is pretty impressive to read that your grandmother was still attending powerboat racing at such an advanced age, although slightly disappointing that you were unable to remember her exact age.
  22. Since Preston away, last season?
  23. Excellent - even showed the 'gambol'.
  24. I see James Morton is still here. Wasn't he told be NP that he has no future at City and should find himself another club? Has he been unable to find a club, or has there been a change of heart?
