  1. I'd have left him on; at least looked to have some quality when he got the ball. That said; we've hardly had the ball this half, so he's not done much. I'd give Wilbs 20 mins; wouldn't hurt to actually try and get in and about their centre backs.
  2. Can't really argue with this; would probably do the same with Wilbs, if I didn't think/know he'll bust a gut today AND Tuesday if called on. Just be nice to at least get a goal; need to avoid confidence built up vanishing before Warnock comes to town... I know, right? Forget half the Hull team are Prem-level players and ex or current internationals; losing two bill means we must be crap. As @JoeAman08says; losing this match isn't the end of the world - Tuesday is a significantly more important. Nice to play a little better next half, mind you.
  3. Absolutely agree; he looks bamboozled by their attack. Thought he'd pulled off a wonder tackle earlier, but then realised it was Pack, and then realised Baker was miles out of position. Reorganise, refresh and go at them second half; early goal might turn this crowd, as if they are groaning at passes backward, lord knows what they'll be like if we score. Also; people slagging Kodjia - where the hell is his support? There is a reason he ends up over playing it; if his options stand behind opposition players, how on earth can he pass to them. Get Tomlin and PO to tuck in/central; Hull are are playing with forward thinking midfielders, so let's see how they handle a little like-for-like in there. Word for O'Donnell too; should be 4-0 - not at fault for those goals, and pulled off two cracking saves. Hope he gives reads the riot act in the dressing room.
  4. Funny; I thought it came from shit marking - at least Kodjia's involed; half the side have been anonymous. Tomlin and PO are too wide and being kept out of the thick of it by Hull. Their best players are Huddlestone and Snodgrass, yet we seem to give them all the time and space they want; no pressing, no pressure. If Smith is fit, get him on. Reid hasn't don't anything wrong as such, but hadn't effected the game much other than winning free kicks - Smith on, Bryan out left, PO tucked inside, and after 10/15 throw on Wilbs for Kodjia if we've got nothing. We've done well at switching things up at the break before; let's see if we can rise to this challenge.
  5. Yup. Very positive team. You could have forgiven LJ for being cautious with a defensive team, but instead that is clearly set up to score goals. Also think that it is smart to start Kodjia over Wilbs here. Yes; Wilbraham dominated Bolton last time out, and more than earned another start, but think he'll be better utilised from the start against Warnock's Rotherham on Tuesday, who I expect to be pretty 'street smart', so his guile will be needed to keep them on the back foot. Side note; Blackburn losing means that we can go level on points with them today with a win - would be a great achievement to finish above them this year, consisting our start.
  6. Interesting line up, and very strong bench. Also; as Hull fans have mentioned, no recognised striker in the Hull line up, so will be interesting to see how this goes. Fancy us for a score draw; 1-1 or 2-2 would be a good result. 3 points today and I'd wager we're in this league next year, which isn't saying I think we'll get that.
  7. This is always the thing that I find most hilarious; when we are punching at pretty much what could be seen as our level based on our support and current infrastructure (i.e. bottom half Championship club, which tallies with our attendances and spending compared to others in the league, and the rebuild will adjust that upwards still), they still crank on about how well they are doing, when at the very least they should be a level above where they are now (and certainly not recently non-league) when the same factors are consisted. Dicking pub teams last year, and now riding high in a league where Accie Stanley are true contenders and Northampton are looking to win it at a canter - seems a little like a pro boxer giving it the big un after turning up to an under-14 training night and knocking out some kids - hardly worth yelling about. The (tiny) handful of sensible gasheads I've ever encountered recognise this, and don't tend to crow about hammering the likes of Braintree or Morecambe, instead keeping their powder dry for when they might end up doing similar to the Sheffield Uniteds or even potentially Fulhams of this world again, and even with their current form they could still be facing the same sides next year again. Problem is that most of the loudest (and likely stupidest) amongst them don't realise how foolish they look trying to show off escaping the basement, when we're more concerned with winning games in the 4th best supported league in Europe, not overhauling the club with the lowest average attendance in the entire 92 (hi again, Accrington). I'll be impressed if they can go up and maintain this momentum, but part of me is pretty sure they'll go back to the days of Trollope, where midtable league one gives them a nose bleed, and they undermine themselves by sacking anyone who can't deliver better, leaving them floundering. And this car park nonsense; calling that a step forward after Sainsburys walked away with their legal bills paid is like calling breaking only one arm and one leg a 'victory' when you trip on the carpet walking to to the front door - you don't get to call it 'progress' if you don't actually go anywhere. I'll start listening to their rubbish on that front when they open the doors on a new ground; anything before that point they are liable to balls up.
  8. Fantastic result, and on the eve of a two week break it is pretty much the best 'full stop' we could have expected on what I suppose could be seen as LJ's honeymoon period. Plenty were attributing the early results to his simply using Pembo's changed team, but after last week's half-time tweaks, and the perfomace today (saw about 45 mins between the 40th and 90th min), there can be no question he is looking for them to build on what he found and play a certain way. Onwards and upwards now, and good to hear LJ speaking of impressing not just other players but the team we have now, in order to see if they want to jump on for the longer term; all the new additions look to add something, and if we got several on board we'd certainly be a different proposition next year. Looking to be at Hull next time out; have the possibility of some freebie tickets, but as they might be with Hull fans, think I'll be turning them down to get in the away end, as with the respective form of our sides, I might get in bother celebrating near them! Great, great day. COYR
  9. Just delighted we finally FINALLY started a game with goals! After fighting with my flipping internet going down, and missing all but the last minute of the half (did catch a nice bit of skill by Bobby), am hoping I can watch us rack up a goal or two more the second half - would really be a boost!
  10. We lose to Bolton and it is hard to see us staying up. All the superstitious 'signs' might point to an banana skin, but the reality is Bolton have been poor and are even weaker than they might be due to the players they don't have available. I'll be the first to admit we'll struggle if we lose today, but am unusually confident.
  11. You wish you were playing in a building site; would mean you'd have a refurbished or new ground just around the corner, which you don't, and we do - don't be too jealous or anything. Fact of it is the only new ground-related fees your mob of nomads are paying are Sainburys' legal fees after you got screwed by your "watertight" contract.
  12. I was going to pick up on that "poor season" comment until you corrected it! Think Kodjia's raw energy will be an asset against them late on regardless of the state of play, while the nous of Wilbs and Odemwingie, coupled with the speed of passing that midfield is capable of might help us keep Bolton from doing what other teams have down at the gate and keep us at arms length. I'm going to stick my neck out and say I think we'll get an early goal today; after watching the Fulham game, I think this line up will generate opportunities, and with the experience we've got up front today (and I also include Tomlin in this) I think we'll get our noses in front.
  13. Imagine he'll get a good 20+ mins in place of one of Wilbs or Odemwingie; whether we are winning, looking for a winner or trying to get back into it, Kodjia will be a useful threat to throw on to stretch them late on.
  14. One thing you have to say is that it's not a starting eleven that Bolton can have done too much homework on. Them being under new management might mean they are an unknown quantity, but so is that line-up, so all bets are off really. Looking forward to seeing Odemwingie having a go at Bolton's back line.
  15. 70+ years of experience up top today; no Kodjia but a couple of ol' codgers! Like that line up - COYR!
  16. One of the advantages of Rotherham's resurgence is that there are a number of sides who cannot rule out getting drawn in to a genuine scrap. We've pulled in Fulham, and Huddesfield are only 6 points away from Rotherham, with an in form Leeds next, then Sheff Weds, Boro, Hull, Blackburn, before a trip to Rotherham - by that game with the aides they have to play, they could either be free and clear, or have Rotherham nipping at the heels. This season is far from over; what we need to do is just head into each game like it is a must-win until we've dragged ourselves clear, starting at Bolton - I hope we take the energy from this last gasp win and channel it into putting Bolton close to 20 points behind us next week.
  17. It was bold, and also a sign we've slowly built enough squad depth to actually do something like that, certainly in terms of replacing Kodjia with another decent quality striker. Important win, and will put the the frighteners on Fulham too; for all their attacking power they are now a point off the drop - don't fancy them away to Brum next time out, while absolutely fancy Rotherham at Ipswich on the same day; could see the Cottagers staring League One in the face at the start of April.
  18. LJ's overseen 7 games now: 4 wins and 3 losses - wonder what odds we don't draw one under his stewardship before he reaches ten games? Also; 11 games since SC left and just one draw - unusual state of affairs!
  19. Considering the amount of times we've got sucker punched last min, nice to be on the other end of it for once! Vital win, and one that not only gains us ground but surely makes Fulham real relegation possibilities, especially with Rotherham looking like they might just have the nuts to get out of it. Combination of extatic and relieved; well down LJ and the boys - bold half time subs to bring us back into it. COYR!
  20. What on earth would we do without Flint? Man has come to our aid more times than is reasonable this season.
