Sykes having been absent for just over a month you’d think would be back up to speed pretty quick.

Atkinson has been out for a year, so understandable if it’s a bit longer & provided Zak & Rob Dickie stay fit, there’s no rush.

I am really pleased for Rob, it will have been 8 days shy of a year out. I know he had that 45 minutes in November, but I am sure he would have expected to have been back before now. He has been in full training since 28th Jan, so he's probably more prepared than you might think.

He's been through a lot away from football too, (sorry to be so mysterious) so I am sure he is itching to get back tomorrow.

For multiple reasons I think this will be positive.

Sin bins already work well in numerous other team sports, including very high-paced sports like ice hockey, and other field sports such as hockey and rugby.

It's not a rule change, it's a new tool for referees to enforce the rules that already exist.

It should also bring new attacking tactics as well as potentially defensive ones. @Port Said Red have you seen that in the games you've watched?

The laws of the game have never stood still. From the outlawing of hacking in the 1800s, to the adaptations of offside, to the removal of the backpass in the 90s. There is not single point in time when the laws were perfect, and if anyone likes back through rose-tinted glasses and says there is...they're kidding themselves.

I can't see it being anything more than a positive change.

Did you mean to tag me here? I haven't followed any of those sports. I am new to basketball and they don't really have a sin bin as such. A player can be "sent off" for 5 personal fouls, but it doesn't reduce the team numbers, just the options for making changes.

Coaches seem to use there own sin bin approach though and will take a player out if they are 3 or 4 fouls, and reintroduce them in the final minutes, reducing the risk of losing them completely.

I still think the Sport is on a decline, and I have done for about 4-5 years now. The changing in rules, VAR, the changes being made to the World Cup's, Tournaments being played in corrupt nations, money being spent that is unsustainable.

Every Sport has its peak and I think Football had its peak between 1990 - 2019 ish.

Too many rules being introduced, too many players being coached the same way too and too much exposure is leading to the Sport being a pretty bland spectacle on the whole.

I also think attendances are on the up as the game has become more family friendly, not because the Sport has improved in any way.

I don't know how you can say that the game is on the decline because it's attracting more fans from a different demographic than before. That's a good thing isn't it? Of course the game may be losing some people (e.g. single males over 45) I don't know, but they/we aren't the future of the game.

If your personal interest, or the interest levels of your friends is declining, I don't think that's indicative of the sport as a whole.

  4. I listened to the 5Live Sports extra broadcast which was actually Radio Nottingham's commentary and it was very good.

Apart from the odd mention of "we" the commentary was really fair and they weren't one-eyed at all. The commentator had really done his homework and knew a lot about individual players, and he called us "City" throughout. Steve Sutton was the summariser and he was a little more biased, but really impressed with Max, he did call us "Bristol" a lot though he did correct himself at times.

At @Davefevs is right, it was a bit like the old days. I even had the lights off, so it felt like the days of the "3 day week". 🤣

I thought Bak might start, but for those who have suggested that recent signings mean that the Academy isn't all that, I have seen almost all those players playing and looking good for the U21's and several have already made the 1st team bench at least. That's pretty impressive for an U18s side.

  6. I am around at my father in law's setting up his laptop for him. Knowing that he is a Gashead I thought I would set up their official site for him.

I noticed that on top of the airbrushing of Jamie MacAllister, they also seem to have selective match reporting, you wouldn't even know they played Fleetwood last night, let alone the ignominious defeat.

I was responding to the suggestion - posted as if it was fact - that Yeboah has a bad attitude, had thrown his toys out the pram, might be a bad egg and has been slapped down as a result.

All based on "only pub talk but apparently..."

But thanks for the link as this suggests it's more likely a grown up conversation was had and him spending more time in the U18s than the first team since Manning arrived may not have anything to do with his attitude.

It’s perfectly obvious to anyone with a half a brain who’s seen Yeboah play that he’s incredibly raw. And to anyone with half a brain, it's also perfectly obvious this is likely to be the reason he’s back with the U18s.

Yet some are unable to come to that reasonable, logical conclusion and prefer to go with:

“He’s been demoted right back down to the u18s I’m hearing he has a big attitude problem”.

And then when asked to back that up

     – “That would be a shame, who did you hear that from” – “Where did you hear this? I can’t imagine that being the case, he seems a very well mannered young lad and doesn’t strike me as the type” – I watched him play in the u18s and didn’t seem to be an issue with his attitude on the pitch” – “I don’t know where the story of Yeboah having an attitude problem comes from, it’s the opposite from what I have been told” – “Just came from an attention seeker” (BINGO!)

the reply begins “Only pub talk but apparently…”

I mean, it’s laughable. How thick can some people actually be? To either believe it or want to post it on the internet. Should be used to it by now but it gets my goat, I'm afraid.

I think it's worse these days with social media. Someone picks up on that post here and posts it on one or two of the other outlets, that gets picked up again and recycled back on here and all of a sudden it's a "fact" that he has a "bad attitude". It then becomes difficult for him to prove that wrong.

Ok, so Ive figured it out.

Their highest lowest gate is irrelevant because we’ve had a season with a higher lowest gate which beats all of their highest lowest gates including the highest lowest gate from 70 years ago.

Their lowest highest gate is lower than ours as is their lowest lowest gate.

Our highest highest gate is higher than theirs.

    Hope this helps.

I have never heard of them, so you can rule me out of your list.

You might not know them by name, but A Punk was probably the most used promo music around for ages, on TV and radio.

Very "percussive" band, I have always liked how every instrument and even the vocals at times seem to have a beat to them.

Bit surprised Dire did not get a run out

I think the venue may be the issue. They will want to let the lad get settled in Bristol and a 600 mile round trip with lads he mostly doesn't know wouldn't help that.

I don't know where the story of Yeboah having an attitude problem comes from, it's the opposite from what I have been told. He is only playing for U18'S Wednesday because they want to have their best chances of progressing in the youth cup.

    Wonderful.

No doubt lost on many here, but very amusing nonetheless.
