  1. So have Swindon Town! Bournemouth. Brentford. Bloody Luton. Come on, mate!
  2. Yeah but that's all it is with Preston - history. Tom Finney etc. So yeah, Preston were (past tense) a bigger club. History is all it is with us too, mind. 1970s and 1900s. So you forget the past and compare the here and now = we're bigger than Preston. Huddersfield were massively successful in the 30s... who'd consider them a big club?? etc etc
  3. I can't tell if you're being really optimistic or really pessimistic!
  4. Yes. It's not a co-incidence that our first 2 signings will be players who can fill multiple positions.
  5. Biggest Whooooooooooooooooooooosh of all time, mate. Congratulations.
  6. I hope you're right. At least he can console himself with the fact he doesn't play for a pub team anymore.
  7. Tells you everything you need to know about why we are where we are and why we are who we are. It's been this way forever - consistently poor decision-making by the suits since, I dunno, about 1909 actually. As alluded to in this thread already by @oldstandrobin - there's just something about our DNA...
  8. A penny for Harry Cornick's thoughts this morning.
  9. Which makes him an even bigger waste of skin than if he was serious.
  10. In that article, the Blackburn DoF talks about a "proposal from the Football Association to change the GBE points total. If that happens, we don't know if it will, that would give us a free hand to sign players from anywhere in the world which would be huge for a club like Blackburn Rovers" Anyone got more detail about that? The Blackburn fella also says "All teams in the Championship are reliant on Premier League loans" Wrong!
  11. Agreed. I'm trying to think if there's another club with a billionaire owner that continues to under achieve quite like we do. In 1982 as the club went bust, if someone had said that 40 years later we'd be owned by a billionaire but still hadn't returned to the top flight, you'd have laughed out loud. And yet here we are. Frustrating, indeed.
  12. Both those teams massively reliant on loans from Prem teams. Players they no longer have and may not be able to replace. Both have had great seasons and have played some excellent football but let's wait and see if they can do so again.
  13. Yes, I just have a gut feeling he'll get more out of their squad than this season, irrespective of any recruitment, limited or otherwise, that they do in the summer. As Neil has just put it, they need to do more with less and Jones might be just the man for that. Hopefully not, obviously. Hopefully the useful loans they've had this season can't be replaced, Robinson continues to be injured, Sawyers continues to be not what he was, O'Dowda continues to be O'Dowda, and the whole sorry shower collapses like a pack of cards into relegation, never to be seen again. We can but dream - it's what the off season is for!
  14. Yes. Unfortunately. Can see him improving them.
  15. Gary O'Neil done brilliantly there. Shame it's at a such a tinpot club but there we are. Fair play to him.
  16. If Coventry go up via the playoffs, they'll more than likely struggle. Club's often do daft things in their desperation to stay up and I could see Coventry doing just that and sacking Robins as they fight to avoid relegation. Leaving Steve Lansdown's favourite manager unemployed just as Nige comes to the end of his contract....
  17. Was it a deflection off Bakinson's arse, i.e. Tyreeq "I really can't be arsed" Bakinson?? No? Oh well. Peterborough next year - yes please.
  18. Why fret about when it's announced - we already know our retained list, surely?
  19. Let's see who comes and goes first. Ask again in August. Oh alright, top 10.
  20. No but look at the standard of player he was competing against. No disgrace in that. We'd be signing a proven, top end Championship player if he returns. How many of those have we got? Pearson has said repeatedly he's only interested in signing players who improve us. I'd say this signing would do just that. Certainly not a stockpiling for the sake of it/clubs in the bag type of signing.
  21. Why did we need an immediate, mid-season, solution?
