  1. Personally I feel totally indifferent to it all, seems strange that Higgs, Bradshaw and Jelf have gone completely, a lot years involvement between the three of them, also find it strange that there are much bigger clubs in the lower divisions they could of pumped money into rather than a North Bristol/South Glos' footballing backwater

Not surprised it was more, don't know where I got 96 from, just popped into my head. I remember we were up the open end that game for some reason.

145 rings a bell to me, a record at a football match at the time, not surprising really as a particular song from the EE was shameful though for many (myself included) sung it happily without having a clue what it was about

Yes it happened, and I've never denied it, but it's made out to be as if it was the only thing going on at the football when it was a sideshow at best.

The fact that people enjoyed it really doesn't make it acceptable, and it amazes me that people are so proud of having been involved rather than realising now what fools they were and being quite embarrassed about it.

Can't remember any fools to be honest just a good bunch of lads enjoying the football experience of the 70's, it's a completely different experience these days which for my kids sake I am grateful for, but I'll never forget the different buzz that the football experience gave you in those days and wouldn't of changed it for the world, I feel it's a shame that you should feel the need to mock and criticise

Definitely one Tuesday night and, now you mention it,  Pompey as well - also, by coincidence, on a Tuesday night, all kicking off by the Mercedes garage and on Winterstoke Road.

Pompey and Brum are the only 2 teams that I can recall that were unable to be shifted from the middle of the East End. Remember a very young Trevor Francis scoring the only goal of the game for Brum

I am not sure about 'taking' the East End, but I remember back in the 1970s both Leicester one Tuesday evening and Birmingham having very large numbers present throughout the match - also Liverpool, of course, during the FA Cup game.

I also remember one Saturday afternoon when Sheffield UTD 'invaded' the East End in large numbers: they were finally chased out, but not before 'allegedly' hitting one City fan with an axe would you believe.

Certainly remember Birmingham and Pompey in large numbers on the East End but absolutely no recollection of Leicester

No, it's the truth, they came on the East End and gave a good show, old bill saved their ases, only to be murdered and humiliated once the hounds of hell had a free run after the game, same old same old

I remember it well myself but unless I'm reading it wrong he's over-estimating their performance that day!!

  7. I don't read their non league rag, but I seem to remember a certain Polak creating numerous accounts on here when we got relegated a few years ago.

Anyway he can't be that sensible if he rather have Higgs as a chairman than the Lansdowns.

He is very anti Higgs, he also puts that dopey "Henbury gas" poster in his place, definitely one of their better posters but that's not saying much, never read such a bitter and jealous bunch
  8. Can someone tell Kingswoodpolak the correct way to use a f*cking comma? What, a complete, moron.

Anyway I'm sure our stupid friends up north are gutted they're not moving to South Glos.

To be fair to Kingswood Polak he is usually one of the most sensible posters on that forum
  9. I am sure the bloke formerly called ivan will find some way to criticise JET just to contribute to hounding the guy out the door at seasons end.

On a positive note that was a seminal win bearing in mind the next two games.. and the confidence will do us no end of good. Clean sheet on tuesday night?.. lets get our first of the season on the road (or there about's) at probably the hardest place to get it.

Cannot believe the Jet haters, only the Peterborough striker has got more goals than Jet's 19 in this division & only 6 teams have have scored more goals than us, the problem is & always have been with our woeful defence, luckily we have 2 players with 37 goals between them, the best pairing in the division

  10. And JET has ? He is an absolute disgrace to his profession.

If ever a player has shown a total lack of interest and effort for a game...then he is your man.

Don't think Barnett is the answer though and seeing as there is no other strikers at the club i would keep our 18 goal top scorer in the line-up

  11. That wasn't good to hear the cheering as he left the pitch. On saturday in a flat back four he looked far more assured with flint.

A pity Thomas wasn't subbed, who would have deserved sarcastic cheers for yet another aimless lazy pathetic performance.

Sorry , but the sooner i see the back of him the better.

Bryan like Reid, another of our great academy products who looks totally out of his depth and lacking any fight....for a local lad.

Barnett and burns not starting was the biggest cock up of many tonight, he should have swallowed his pride and bit the bullet with 352.

Why should Barnett have started? shown absolutely nothing yet to warrant starting.

  12. I think it's frustrating when you see SB miss chances. But I think most intelligent fans can See what a good little player he is. Remember this forum is not representative of your average fan. And there are a lot of attention seekers on here. If we can tighten up the defence, and if Jet and SB can keep scoring at the rate they have been. There is no reason we can't finish mid table.

Quite right, defence have been shocking for far to long now, Jet & Baldock must have more goals between them than any other pairing in the division (with the possible exception of the Coventry strikers) and still plenty of moaners on here complaining

  13. It's a sad state of affairs when the only things fans of BOTH clubs can gloat about at the moment are the misfortunes of the other.

Everywhere else in the country seems to be trying to be progressive.  The mentality in Bristol is always negative.  Such a shame.

I'm sure we'll end up with a nice expensive white elephant Arena in the wrong part of town, costing the taxpayers millions, but neither of the moderm new football stadia funded from private equity.  Glad I moved away to be honest.

You did the right thing to move away, i'm fed up of "Backwater Bristol" if i was 30 years younger i would be out of this country like a shot, in saying that I would be quite pleased if the Memorial Ground remained as a sports venue in memory of the many Bristolians who died in WW1 as was intended, something not quite right about demolishing it for a supermarket
