If only we had a classy midfielder who could win a game on his own with a bit of magic
-
Changing the topic slightly but I see that Poplar Insulation is sponsoring one of their stands, bit of a strange one as the owners are massive City fans, I'll have to ask them what their game is when I see them next!

This nearly crept off the first page, can't have that, does anyone know why the UWE deal fell through? Our local media should be all over this, it seems to be the usual cloak of darkness when it comes to any thing to do with Rovers

Correct. Many of their "lads" at the time were card carrying NF members.
Too true LP, I remember being at an anti NF demo in the late 70's when the NF were having a meeting (in a local school believe it or not) they had to be escorted out by the police and who should be at the front of this motley mob? No other than the Tote End's main boy at the time (BD) we give him some stick

The abuse came from individual people, and was reported by Rovers fans. I think FA punishments are given for larger scale obscene chanting, which is reported by the referee, or another FA official at the game - not even sure they ever actually punished a club for racial chanting, they are an impotent authority at times.
There is no place for it on the terraces, or elsewhere, and I hope that the culprits are identified and suitably punished.
To be fair every club has it's share but in Rover's case this sort of stuff has been going on for as long as I can remember, going back to the 70's Rovers were known to having a large far right following

Love the one on there about the pasty hut being closed today because it has been condemned..
Please tell me you are joking about a "condemned pasty hut" oh the gift

Is there any chance they can build a stadium where they purchased the training ground?

The usual cloak and dagger stuff from the Rovers board, Wael out of the country, putting the news out at 11 O'Clock at night, not giving a definitive answer as to why it all fell through, they are so tin-pot it's untrue.

Rovers have worked with Thorntons for years. I love the draw for the shirt sponsor, what on earth is wrong with local businesses being involved with their local football team?

It really is a terribly sad case. I don't know her incredibly well, but she has been around the club for years and Rovers were a huge part of her- and her husbands- life. Obviously no one can condone what she has lost her home in paying it all back and I imagine that she will regret her actions every day for the rest of her life.
Well said Miah, I have a great deal of sympathy for her to be honest, gambling is a terrible addiction, she's paid the money back and lost everything, she's been punished enough, absolutely not in the public interest for her to go to prison

A voice of reason (Kingswood Polak) and then comes the put downs (Icegas and Harvey Specter); http://gaschat.co.uk/thread/10152/bigger-club-bristol-city?page=5 a thread about will they ever be bigger than City.
Regardless of who bankrolled, their infrastructure is a country mile ahead of ours. Their academy is already producing and their PR and media are so far ahead it would take us a number of years to just equal that. I've been going since 68 and, the 1982 debacle apart, they have always had bigger support and the sale of ST's alone puts us way in their looming shadow
Just the facts mamSorry, that's complete crap.I would happily stay in the shadow if it meant we didn't lose our identity and become a plastic club with a plastic fanbase and ownership as they have.To be honest Kingswood Polak usually talks a lot of sense and is one of the more sensible posters, maybe he is our very own "Miah"?

Hopefully she can now go and get herself a decent haircut

To be fair, that's a decent signing.
Not sure about that, played most of his football in the bottom division or conference and at 27 you'd have thought he would of been picked up by now if any good

Dunno- didn't read it! I struggle with his posts a bit!
Was it something about the ground? If it was, I rarely read stuff about what/maybe/shoulda/coulda happen. If we get a ground we do, if we don't we don't. It won't affect my support for the club.
You're getting a bit of stick Miah on your own forum, ignore 'em, were you up Hamden for the cup final, thought it was a cracking game

Any news on UWE? I've heard they've hit problems again

Wow. In all fairness why would he want to go there
He's from Tuam the one blot on the landscape of beautiful county Galway, it's the sort of place where Banjo Island meets Peasdown St. John

Definition of Tinpot, announcing to your supporters (who are waiting to hear about a shiny new ground) that you're getting the decorators in to smarten the place up a bit

I missed the 5-1, I had a ticket but for some bizarre reason I chose to got to Rovers v Millwall , I did go to Hampden though and I'm pleased to confirm that Rangers really are truly woeful at the moment
I have no idea about Higgs actually. I'm pleased he has gone though. Wael comes across really well and things have looked better than they have in a long while. Having said that things can change drastically in football over a relatively short period of time, so you won't find me making any rash predictions about our future!
Miah, unbelievable, why the hell did you miss the old firm game for that dross?

It did get all a bit 'North Korean' at our place for a bit. I'm not sure if John was banned, but he-along with several others- were treated pretty shabbily by some at the club. Lansdown has come in for some-in my opinion ridiculous- stick on here at times, you might do well to remember that at least he hasn't resorted to excercising his substantial financial muscle to keep people quiet.
Haven't heard much from you lately Miah, still celebrating those hammering over those woeful bluenoses? What has happened to Higgs? Does he still attend home matches?
