  1. How many Championship clubs make a profit? It's almost impossible given the level of player wages with hardly any income from TV, you can't rely on gate receipts these days. If a club can keep it's debts within the FFP limits then it's doing OK, and we fall into that category. The only way to make large amounts of income is through player sales, we've done that and our best signings have now departed but not sure how else you can solve the puzzle?
  2. I haven't given up on this season yet. Before the last international break most on here we're content. Most of it relates to player availability - if we can get Williams fit, Baker and James back soon then things could pick up again. You only have to look at Villa, without Grealish they have turned into relegation candidates and Smith has been made the scapegoat
  3. You're right it looked like a good appointment yet apparently the board messed up by taking him on, they seem to be the whipping boys despite people on here agreeing with them at the time. Or is it just people on OTIB can't admit they were wrong and look for someone else to blame?
  4. We finished 17th that season, which is higher than where we are now.
  5. SL was in charge when Cotts became manager so must have appointed him. It wasn't all bad under LJ, he actually did as well as anyone at this club in the 2nd tier if you think about it, at least we were never in danger of relegation which hasn't been the case with virtually every other manager we've had (apart from his dad).
  6. Not much, most of it went on the stadium and I don't hear anyone complaining about that. The trouble is we don't get enough income to pay Championship wages, that's why SL has to subsidise the club every season.
  7. When you look at the stadium, training ground and all the transfers must be close to £100m
  8. That win against Huddersfield was our last home win before the Barnsley game. Let's hope for a convincing home win soon.
  9. I thought he did ok for a debut in difficult circumstances, put himself about and did one pass into the box that nearly came off, think people on here being a bit harsh.
  10. I don't understand what a) is? How is 'lost revenue' calculated and is it then taken off our annual loss as used for FFP?
  11. COVID has made things worse. Teams without parachute money rely on matchday income and this has been taken away (even this season crowds are down) so FFP has reduced the ability to sign players for clubs like ours because of last season's deficit.
  12. December will be crucial for NP. If we're on the way down and in the relegation mix SL generally chooses then to make a change before the January window, he couldn't contemplate going back to L1 however much he supports NP.
  13. All forwards miss sitters sometimes, Martin and Weimann had four apiece before today so on track for 15 at the end of the season. Main problem is the scarcity of goals from midfield and defence.
  14. Remember that when Holden first took over we were top of the league for a while, new manager "bounce" doesn't always equate to long term success.
  15. Cooper as well when we were stuck in Div 3! At the time there were some people unhappy with both those managers just as now, some things never change.
  16. Can't see us getting anything other than defeat but I expect a decent performance, perhaps in the game for a while and going down 3-1. The feeling was so bad after the Forest game it might just give us the impetus to win at home next time, we weren't that bad generally just for the last 10 minutes or so and the substitutions didn't help, I wouldn't have picked COD or Palmer to see out a pressure situation. It may be a similar point in the season to the game we had at the end of a terrible run of results when GJ first took over in L1. I remember we reached the lowest point when 0-4 down to Chesterfield at home at HT. In the 2nd half the crowd got behind the team and we scored 2 goals to finish 2-4 when it looked like it could have been 0-7 or 8 earlier. After that we started a long unbeaten run and then got promoted the season after, here's hoping for similar now.
  17. I still don't understand why he lost form after we got promoted to Div 2. At the time people thought maybe he was just a great Div 3 player and couldn't make the step up but he showed at WBA he was just as good at that level, we really missed out there somehow.
  18. That was my second favourite away match after the Arsenal game the same season
  19. That tackle did turn out good but I don't like defenders going to ground in the box unless it's a desperate situation, it could easily have ended differently. Agree he was our best attacking threat though.
  20. Was good going forward but not so good defensively, needs to learn how to tackle as he's a bit lightweight in that situation. I suppose if he was good everywhere he wouldn't be playing for us.
  21. We desperately need Wells or Semenyo fit for this one or the attack picks itself unless we just play one up top
  22. More like missing Massengo, Wells and Semenyo
  23. The Millwall game echoed the problems we had last season where without certain key players we struggled. Massengo is a big miss, and not having Wells or Semenyo as well limited our attacking options. Players like Bakinson wouldn't normally be starting, we may have to accept that we're going to slip down the table as injuries mount, it's not the fault of the coaching staff.
