  1. I get the impression that the family gave Wael (the youngest son) Bristol Rovers as a toy to play with to keep him clear of their bank. Not sure the rest of the family have any interest in BRFC so the bank connection doesn't count for much.
  2. There has obviously been a big bust-up internally with Des Taylor following Pembo out on the same day, we'll probably never know what happened but it doesn't sound like it was a planned move. Pembo turned things around for us before LJ came in, during the 6 games he was in charge the defence suddenly became miserly, I'm sure he will be missed. Some on here say as defensive coach he must bear some responsibility for the defensive problems we've had this season but LJ picks who plays and the tactics so I think that's a bit unfair. I'm sure Pembo won't be out of work for long.
  3. At the game and would be 1-0 but for officials, sure we'll win this one
  4. It will be interesting to see the team selection today following LJ's comments about changes. With Bryan suspended Golbourne likely to come in (a better defender imo), I wonder if Engvall will play a part or even start, maybe as a wide player instead of Pattison? I also expect O'Dowda to figure somewhere, might he rest Tomlin to the bench to fire him up a bit?
  5. We've done a lot better than in the same fixture last season. However, done again on a set piece. Apart from Tomlin's free kicks around the box we don't score enough from them (eg 12 corners today) whereas other teams get most of their goals that way rather than from fantastic flowing football. We play lots of pretty football but still end up losing away from home, we need to learn how to grind out results in away games, we're currently a soft touch. Also need to score when we're on top, with Tammy having a bit of a lean patch someone else needs to step up to the plate.
  6. LJ said in press conference that Engvall not ready yet, should figure more from January
  7. Not a happy hunting ground for us. If we play well then 1-1 or 2-2 is possible, if not then a 2-0 defeat on the cards. We need to score first.
  8. My first ever game at AG was against Blackburn in 1970, we won 4-0 and Terry Bush got a hat-trick.
  9. We didn't win any of the first 3 games after the last international break, even though it was on Sky it's only one game and we can pick up points at QPR and home to Blackburn. Tammy has obviously been poorly so maybe he shouldn't have started, we haven't got many strikers to choose from currently though. However poor we were at least we won't have to watch rubbish games like that every week like Cardiff fans are going to.
  10. Anyone reckon he might give Tammy a rest and bring him off the bench for the last 20 minutes? Wilbs or Engvall could get a runout perhaps?
  11. I don't think so, think O'Donnell must be one and probably Flint the other. O'Neil made a rash challenge but he didn't crumble by any means.
  12. We played well up until the penalty. However O'Donnell has to be rested, Frankie's a safe pair of hands, he deserves his chance now.
  13. I'd be tempted to take Tomlin off and bring on Wilbs, we can't afford to go down to 10 men and Tammy might get more space to operate
  14. With our strength in depth no point in risking anybody with any kind of knock, he'll have Tammy on the bench, we'll need him more on Tuesday
  15. Burton beat Wednesday so makes our win there look a better result than maybe we thought
  16. I've got a fairly zippy Linux box and the Sky highlights work fine, I suspect they are in HD resolution which means a decent graphics card and a fast link required
  17. If Little's shoulder injury is sorted and he's got his pace back deserves his chance. Brownhill can't be judged on one appearance, Baker and Matthews were rubbish the first time they played last season.
  18. I'm sure he's looking to win the game by half time then one of them will go off and Wilbs on
  19. Apparently we have played at their stadium before in a friendly according to a Burton fan: There is only one previous occasion that I can recall that we have played Bristol City. In 1965 the Robins sold us their old floodlights, they became the first floodlights to be installed at Eton Park. Bristol City sent a team for a friendly to mark the switch-on. The score was 4-4. John Atyeo who is a Bristol City legend played that night.
