6 fans dead after a stampede.
Horrible news
At least six people have died in a stampede outside a stadium hosting an African Cup of Nations soccer game in Cameroon, an official said Monday.
Naseri Paul Biya, governor of the central region of Cameroon, said there could be more casualties.
The stampede happened as crowds struggled to get access to Olembe Stadium in the Cameroon capital of Yaounde to watch the host country play Comoros in a last 16 knockout game in Africa’s top soccer tournament.
Officials at the nearby Messassi hospital said they had received at least 40 injured people from the stampede.
“Some of the injured are in desperate condition,” said Olinga Prudence, a nurse. “We will have to evacuate them to a specialized hospital.”
Soccer officials said around 50,000 people had tried to attend the match. The stadium has a capacity of 60,000 but it was not meant to be more than 80% full for the game due to restrictions on the size of the crowd because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Any info appreciated
From football ground guide.. I have been here before it's OK for a visit
'A good place to drink is the Beech Hill Conservative Club on Leagrave Road, which welcomes both home and away supporters. To find the club, with the away entrance in front of you turn left and walk down to the bottom of Oak Road. Proceed through the small arcade of shops opposite and you will see the sign for the club between two shops. It has a large car park (which costs £4) and offers reasonably priced beer. You will be charged to go in, but you make it up on the cheaper than pub beer'.

Fair play to Comoros, they've tried to play when they can despite the odds. If they can keep themselves in it, you never know.
I honestly had never heard of Comoros before this tournament began

Possibly, however we have two games yet to be played - the postponed away game against London City Lionesses, and the home game against Coventry United; which looks like can be played now that the team were saved. If we get six points out of those games, that would be a real boost
London City is a must win, but can't see enough teams taking points off Liverpool, which is a shame as was hoping the game at Ashton Gate was going to be a title decider

It was no worse than the trouble in the park with Swansea a few years ago as far as I can tell, that hasn't gone back to a bubble so I see no reason why this would.
My thoughts exactly, except a bit of posturing in the park, individual flash points weren't any worse than many other games

Don’t ask Cardiff to front the bill we all know they refuse to pay their debts..
I'm led to believe that supporters groups are sorting

Any player part of that double winning team should get a decent welcome at Ashton Gate IMHO.
Even during the game?

To me, recognise the ex player before the game, but during the game their job is to beat us, get on their backs like any opposition player

Not in any games that I attended at AG which must number in the hundreds. Must have been during the games I missed.
The road is frequently closed, but not letting supporters past is unusual

Was amazed pre game to see that so many of the police on duty around the ground were Welsh, wearing jackets with Heddlu on, WTF was that all about?
Bet when we were over there none of them were Avon & Somerset.
I would imagine Avon and Somerset were policing Temple Meads and the blue fewers visit to Swindle.

Either way I know my sky bet acc will have a zero balance at full time as usual lol

News today that Gwen Davies signed her first (professional) contract with the club, and remains until the end of the season, with an option of a year extension after that.
Didn't realise that when she first joined over the summer from the Welsh leagues, it was on a non-contract basis - this may explain why she wasn't initially announced at the time.Seems a bit odd to me, there's only 14 weeks left of the season

There was a problem earlier which Tom rectified

I think he’s on a two year deal and he was in video Jack Brooks posted from training but maybe someone else wants him.
He had some good moments in the T20, in the championship he seemed to improve the first few games but then became inconsistent.
I can’t see Siddle bowling loads in every game at his age so I guess they’ll probably keep both.
MDL is one of those players that no matter what they do I will always detest, his bowling last season was often so erratic and costly and the number of times I would shake my head at one of his deliveries lol
PS Yes he did sign a two year deal with us
